My wonderful wife and I were on a staycation and checked out of the hotel. On the drive to our next destination she suddenly noticed and exclaimed, my diamond is missing! We discussed the myriad of possible places it could have been lost like coffee shops, parking lots, parks, the hotel, etc. We discussed how we might go back to the original shop in NYC from 35 years ago and buy another one! On a whim, I called the hotel. They looked for it and let us know, hours later they couldn't find it. Hey, stuff happens. We are still happily married! The next day, the phone rang! Their maintenance man had found the stone! Long story short, we got it back, I slipped him some cash and wrote a sincere thank you letter to corporate. Off to Johnston Jewelers we went! Joyce was wonderful, explained the process, we met with a jeweler, agreed on the plan, got our aged rings resized and resurfaced, and had a stronger diamond mounting installed! Woohoo! I took it into Johnston Jewelers and met with Tish. She evaluated my bag of jewelry and let me know what was real and what was not. The majority of it was of little to no value, but at no point, did Tish cause me to feel as though I was wasting her time or that I shouldn't have been there. She was kind, she was thorough, she made suggestions but never tried to sell me anything I didn't need. Came in with diamond bracelet and buyer to get diamonds evaluated. Was told they were moissante by the owner in a thirty second evaluation. Now I lost the buyer and I came back a few days later with the same piece and today they assure me it's all diamond. They cost me a sale which is a shame seeing as my mother spent $500 this month alone there, but it also shows their integrity and faith changes daily. I believe she didn't put the effort in to check it that day because they didn't like me having a buyer with me for the piece. Today since It's my mother whom buys jewelry from them they used the tester and magnification and it showed as diamond. So I lost a customer and disputed the charge on their word telling me it's moissante. Today I find out by then it's all diamond. Now I have to close down the dispute I opened and the customer I had is in the wind. Wish you could of taken longer then thirty seconds the first time or tell me you don't have time rather than tell me diamonds are moissante. It's caused a lot of hassle and a customer. Recently went with my son to have an engagement ring made. He had some family jewelry he wanted to use to make the ring. First we went to Capello's on Park. They did not understand the sentimental value of using his gf's dad's ring who had passed away to make her ring. We were also using her grandma's diamond. They acted like we could get a few dollars toward the new ring for the gold. Nope, not what we were looking for! Also, they send everything out to be made. Nope again!! Next stop Johnston Jewelers. We had planned to go to 4 places. Once we explained to the lady there what we wanted, she totally understood the sentimental value of melting down her dad's ring to make the new ring! She was so helpful and really spent time to make sure he got what he wanted. After talking to her, my son said he wanted to get the ring made there and not go anywhere else! They send out for the 3d printing but the ring was cast in house. When we went to pick up the final product, we were blown away! It was exactly as imagined and totally gorgeous! it was nice to be listened to and understood! Needless to say, she said yes and was stunned over the gorgeous ring and what went into it! I went to them for a repair for the third time to reattach numbers back on my Ret. LEO Shield. Each time the solder or weld didnt hold but even with a guarantee on their workmanship I still had to pay for each repair. So even after last repair last month numbers fell off again ok so last week i spoke to a young man and he explained to me exactly what and why it was happening and that odds are it might happen again but he will repair it jnder warranty at no charge due to it still being within time and we agreed that if it broke again i would go to place he recommend for new one or repairs ok I agreed to that. So today i go to pick up item and they try to charge me $15.00 so I was ready to question the charge when the female sales clerks cut me off and went to get jeweler. Well he stormed out of back and then proceeded in front of 3 other customers to tell and scream at me quote " So dont bother to pay just take your stuff and leave and never step foot in store ever again. And i was totally stunned and apaulled The jeweler totally disrespected belittled and humiliated and embarrased me as uf i did something wrong or tried to get something for free. He didnt even try to explain or better yet listen to me at all. To me in my opinion it seemed more. Like a racist rant due to me being an hispanic man i guees he feels that I was not worthy of professional respestful courteous treatment. I had to remind him 1st I am a customer and 2 he should explain to me what was all his anger and hatred towards me about. I am not a jeweler, metal worker or black smith i have no knowledge of jewelry repair. So I gave no idea of what he was screaming or ranting about. All I know us that his verbal outburst and extreme physically angry demeanor and the disrespectful way he spoke to me. In front of other patrons was unjust unfaur unwarranted unappreciated and inexcusable. And i dont recommend this place to any Ret. LEO. Or anybody at all. Cause if he can mistreat me without any provocation at all imagine to me its was pure anger hatred over what $15.00 which ibstill offered to pay it seems like they needed that money more than I did. Me and my family have been shopping there since the 80s. Had many things made fixed never a problem always professional. This time not so much I had an article made which was so horrible so ridiculous I was shocked that it came from there .when I asked who gave permission to do extra work. They said it thought it would be better and a lot of customers like that. Not what I wanted not what I paid for. I talked to Grant he said anything to make the customer happy. He is on vacation. I wound up having the item fixed from them. Expecting cash in return since it was apples and oranges what I had and what I received. I don't like being lied to I don't like being cheated out of cash. I will never return And I will tell everybody I've known since 1972 in seminole. What a rip off and liars they are. It's not about the amount of money it's the principle. read more
