I was in Alexandria waiting for a guided tour at the Apothecary Museum and we decided to pop in here in the meantime. I didn't have a lot of time and wasn't expecting to find anything but I quickly saw a pair of black nubuck sandals that caught my eye. The salesman was quite efficient and helpful. He took a scan of my feet and told me a few things about them. He grabbed the shoes and I tried them on and then I asked him if these fit or not. Sometimes at other stores you will get a shoes salesman and he will just say "if you feel comfortable," which is not helpful. He noticed that my left foot didn't fit the shoe as well and he offered to go across the street to the other store and grab a half size smaller. I didn't wait long for him to come back and I am sure glad I tried on the half size smaller and it fit perfectly and my feet immediately felt comfortable in this pair. I actually tested out these sandals the next day while walking through Luray Caverns (about a mile and a quarter walk) and they were super comfortable. I am tempted to call them to see if they can find me another pair (if you have difficulty finding shoes, buying 2 pairs of the same shoe before they stop making them is a godsend). I was in and out of the store in about 15 minutes-- fastest shoe sale of my life! Also, there were a lot of people in the store, so I feel with the combination of good styles and excellent customer service, I am not surprised why this place does well. I totally wish I was closer to this store because I would definitely like to come back again.

I went into Comfort One in Old Town with my cousin looking for a pair of On Cloud shoes. An…read moreemployee, Frank, came up and asked if I needed help, so I told him I was looking for a women's size 8. He said he would grab them from the other store, which was only a short distance away, and brought them over for me to try. I tried the shoes on and looked at them in the mirror, but the comfort felt very different compared to what I'm used to with my HOKAs. I mentioned that to Frank, and his response was, "Well yeah, you're used to all that cushion." The way he said it came across as dismissive, rather than trying to understand what I was looking for in a shoe. After that, he took the right shoe off me and put it back in the box. When I took off the other shoe, he did the same thing without asking if I wanted to try a different pair, suggesting another option, or even asking if I had any other questions. I understand that not every shoe is going to feel right for everyone, but I expected more customer service when shopping for something as personal as footwear. I left feeling like my business wasn't wanted. I hope management sees this and speaks with their employees about making customers feel welcomed and actually helping them find the right shoe. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning to Comfort One.

The package was opened as I had tried one on, but I never wore them. They told me I could not return them as the package had been opened, so after I left I checked their policy online, and you can in fact return open packages of socks, as long as they do not show signs of wear and you have the original opened packaging. So I went right back in and returned them.

It doesn't say what time you left!! I drove to far to come back here. I hope management didn't approve this. This is so bad. At least 10 people have tried to open the door without reading the sign. Wow, a good manager would never do this! Please think about the customers that came just for your store, like me. Do I sit and wait? I'm not driving all the way here again Well, she came back, and told the people to wait outside while she did whatever! This is a crazy way to run a business. I'm sure Cole Haan cooperate would not be happy with how their store is being run. The door is still locked and people are continuing to wait outside. Compensation for my time having to wait over and hour would be good customer service!!!

Upon entering the store, we were warmly greeted by 2 store attendants. They also informed us of their current sale--buy one get one half off. One of the attendants happily pointed us to the the kids section, which also has a lot of discounted shoes. There were a good amount of shoes in various sizes but not a distinct boys & girls area. All the kids shoes seem to be consolidated and organized by general sizes. In the end, we wound up getting new pairs of shoes for our 4 kiddos because the discounted shoes on top of the store's sale was a deal we couldn't pass up. The attendants were also very sweet and offered our kids some free stickers. Our shopping experience was very pleasant and left us thinking that maybe the hubby and I should get new kicks ourselves next time.

I recently visited two Encore Shoe Store locations--Springfield Mall and Potomac Mills--while…read moresearching for two specific Sketcher models I had found online. Sketcher makes durable, comfortable sport and casual shoes with wide fit, and I wanted to try on two styles in different sizes. Online sources indicated that the largest Sketcher selections in Northern Virginia were at Potomac Mills and Springfield Mall, but none mentioned that both stores were operated by Encore, which I discovered only after walking the malls. **Springfield Mall - Positive Experience** The Encore store at Springfield Mall was well managed and provided excellent customer service. A young salesman approached me promptly when I needed assistance. He was knowledgeable about sizing, accurate in measuring my foot, and helpful in evaluating the fit of different widths. He offered guidance without any sales pressure. Although the specific style I wanted was not in stock, the professionalism and competence of the staff made the visit worthwhile. **Potomac Mills - Disappointing Experience** My experience at the Encore store in Potomac Mills was very different. Three employees were on the sales floor, but none acknowledged me or offered assistance. They appeared to be engaged in personal conversation, though I cannot say for certain. When I approached them and asked for help, I was directed to a new employee who openly stated she did not know how to measure feet or advise on fit. I then asked the two employees at the register--there were no other customers in the store at the time--for assistance. One handed me a measuring device as if I should measure my own foot. When I explained that I needed a salesperson to help, she accompanied me but stated she was not good at measuring or fitting shoes. I asked if someone with more experience could assist, and we eventually worked through the process, but it was clear that the staff's primary skills were limited to taking money and operating the register. I also shared that I was accustomed to shoe stores where employees are trained to help customers determine proper fit. I did not sense much interest from the staff in learning or improving in this area. **Conclusion** Based on my experience, I would recommend the Encore store at Springfield Mall for anyone looking for Sketchers or other shoes, due to the knowledgeable and attentive service. I would not return to the Encore location at Potomac Mills, as the staff there did not demonstrate the training or customer‑service skills needed to assist with proper shoe fitting.
