In short, they are the agent/broker for 300+ local fishermen...selling the freshest catch hauled in daily to the public. They always have a healthy inventory of different seafood and are open all year, which is exceptionally great for off-season travelers like me. Staff are exceptionally friendly and prices are fair. Their sales can also get you product for really cheap (for example, crab is currently 10 lbs / $20 yesterday). Another cool fact is that rare lobsters do end up here once in a while. They are obviously not for sale and will be sent to a lobster "sanctuary" that does not involve a warm bath. There was a blue lobster (1 in 2 million) and two Calico lobsters (1 in 30 million) in one of the holding tanks yesterday. This is something you won't have the opportunity to see at most (if not all) seafood markets.

We had the seafood chowder, fried clams, and haddock bites. The chowder was okay; I prefer it to be a little thicker, but the taste was delicious. The haddock bites were lightly breaded, and this was good. I'm not a huge fan of breaded fish, but this was a game changer; moist, flaky, seasoned well, and lightly fried. And you can never go wrong with whole belly clams. The lady serving us was really friendly. And BTW, this place has the cleanest restroom I've ever seen in a restaurant.
