Someone also brought their dog in (super well behaved service dog so this is not a knock). No outdoor seating. Food 5/5 I didn't test the seafood but Uncle Bob did! He was originally going to get this cod special covered in lobster sauce but opted for something lighter.. or at least he thought! When I got the Most Interesting Reuben in the world (which was a Cuban Reuben, corned beef plus tender pork and ham), he opted to get a LOBSTER Rueben. The lobster was falling out of this thing - think it was a full ass lobster. 5/5 The most interesting Rueben was quite good. To give it a 4 would be dishonest. Side salad with vinegarette was good too. 5/5 I don't want to like this place but the food was excellent, as was our welcome. Can't give anything other than 5 stars for that. Totally unrelated but we saw a river otter crossing the road in Stonington after our visit. It jumped into the ocean and caught an eel!

There are many dishes served and I certainly didn't leave hungry but I wasn't thrilled with a lot of the preparations. Starter featured local kelp and seaweeds- not my thing. Lobster and crab dishes were outstanding. A course of just carrots was good but maybe not as a dinner course. Service was "a presentation" of each course and the overall evening became slow because of it. Dinner started out well timed but there were long waits in the middle. I would go back but would only go when the à la carte menu was available. Oh yah, you have to be on time for the seating so that means being early as it is fairly remote. Aragosta doesn't serve from the bar until the restaurant opens so no pre-dinner cocktails overlooking their great ocean view. We saw people in their cars having cocktails before dinner. Smart!

Also, they have a lunch board with a limited number of choices; recently we chose between Roast Pork, Smoked Haddock, or Salmon served with various accoutrements between the slices of fresh bread. Low and behold the Roast Pork sold out ten minutes after opening! The smoked Haddock and Salmon sandwiches worth the wait.

The whole atmosphere felt rushed, tense, and honestly rude at times. We had a reservation for 4, but were seated at two separate tables with a support pole between us, making it hard to even talk to each other. A few minutes after we sat down, three actual 4-top tables opened up, so we politely asked if we could move before we had even ordered. That simple request was met with way more hostility than it should have been. They did move us, but I then overheard an older woman on staff complaining to her coworkers about the fact that we had asked. Meanwhile, over an hour later, there were still open 4-top tables, so the attitude over such a reasonable request made even less sense. What made it especially disappointing is that this was my son's birthday dinner, and the vibe was so uncomfortable that I honestly felt like I couldn't even mention it or ask them to celebrate him because we already felt like a burden just for asking to sit together as a family. The service was also painfully slow. It took about 25 minutes for someone to even take our drink order, another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive, and after being there for an hour we still had no food. Our waters were never refilled either. Basic things like checking in on the table or refilling water shouldn't be a stretch, especially when customers are already waiting that long. When the food finally came, my wife ordered the mushroom ravioli and it just wasn't very good. I mentioned it, and there was no apology, no concern, and no offer to take it off the bill or make it right. It was just met with indifference, which pretty much summed up the whole experience. To make things worse, we could repeatedly hear staff talking badly about other customers. That alone creates a terrible atmosphere, because if they're comfortable doing that within earshot of diners, you can't help but assume they're doing the same thing about you. The frustrating part is that the food looked promising, and we came in wanting to have a nice family dinner. Instead, we spent the night feeling uncomfortable, ignored, and like we were inconveniencing the staff just by being there. For what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner, it was a huge letdown.

They were so incredible I came back the next day for zesty Italian mussels and bbq mussels. All three were incredible but the bbq mussels were the star for me. They had the perfect amount of sweetness to balance out the smoke and mussel flavor. We also got some fresh scallops that I cooked for dinner. They were maybe the best quality scallops I've ever had. Highly recommend this place. They know the good stuff.

We've been here on a Isle a couple of times and Coldwater Seafood has been a source each time. On our recent trip to the Isle we saw a young couple carrying a couple of crates and bags of lobster and other "Clam Bake" items for a large family event. This is when the volume discount was "Lurned". Sadly we were shopping for two and just couldn't girth the same volume. Despite four 1.5 pounders, clams, and some smoked haddock was just peachy for us "Come-To's."

We were fortunate to be one of the first groups to enjoy the work of a new resident chef from Brooklyn, NY, Susan Kim. I did not ask where the The golden spaghetti with lobster and fish roe was solid. The halibut was stellar. The duck confit was probably the best dish at the table. We shared much of the items. Christine was our server and she was absolutely lovely. We were seated in the extended room (left of where you enter) and enjoyed the vibe. The air inside is fresh with the windows/doors open (with screens) on nice days. Most of them are in August! I've never sat in the old room by the fireplace but we also usually have a larger party. We came with 8 this time. Everyone agreed- best meal of the week!
