When Mom passed unexpectedly, I called Justin Zabor and he immediately put me at ease & took away an immense amount of my stress and anxiety. From that first call, through the burial, Justin & Zabor employees were respectful, extremely professional and truly caring. I now know why my mother was so adamant as to who would handle her final requests. Mr. (Tom) Zabor, Dan, and especially Justin -- thank you so much! Your professionalism, knowledge, talent and support was so greatly appreciated during an incredibly difficult time.

The driver said that everybody wants to be back at the funeral home by 1:15 PM. Instead of 1:15 PM, the driver decided to takeoff at 1 PM. This left several people out in the cold as they would not be able to follow him. I don't feel that the staff worked at their best I felt compassion was lacking, and it seemed to me that it wasn't that important to them. I would never recommend this funeral parlor to anybody!

They pay great attention to detail: the lounge area has comfortable furniture and hot coffee, the restrooms have fragrant candles lit at the sink, and the visitation rooms themselves have comforting ambiance created by background music and furnishings. I didn't make the arrangements myself, so I can't speak to the price. The only notable disappointment from my point of view was when our family held a service at the funeral home, rather than at a local church, and the celebrant not only mispronounced the last name of the deceased, but also gave slightly incorrect details of his life (years slightly off, family stories condensed beyond recognition). Overall, though, I've had good experiences with the Busch Funeral Home, and would recommend their services.

Like his father Peter had done previously with my grandma (Baba) and my Uncle's service; Adam, with the utmost professionalism, took care of every detail with the arrangements of my father's passing and did so in such a kind, personable and family oriented manner. Adam's guided support through every step in the entire process provided my family the comfort and stability that was needed during this emotionally difficult time. Adam was always responsive and followed through with everything we asked for and orchestrated a heartfelt, beautiful and dignified funeral service. Adam always showed awareness of the budget and never pushed anything and did everything we asked. Above all, he provided a ceremonial funeral in honor of my father and with the awareness of customs, routines & sacraments in a dignified and traditional way. Adam also without question, brought in multiple caskets as my mom was a bit indecisive and very choosy about which casket she finally chose. Adam was unwavering in his assistance and provided whatever we asked and went well above and beyond what can be expected. My father also looked healthier for the viewing than he was at the time of passing, as his cheeks had to be filled in and the end result was much more of how we remember him. I would highly recommend Holowchak Funeral Home, especially if you're Ukrainian or Eastern European, as my father was born in Slovakia. The Holowchak's truly adhere to and understand the heritage, customs, rituals and practices of the Byzantine-Slav tradition and provide a very caring, understanding, compassionate, professional & family oriented funeral service.

So I called my back up option and boy am I glad I did. They quickly came and offered their condolences. They were very sensitive to us. They even told us to let them know when we were ready to close the bag. Upon leaving they gave us a card and told us to call to set up a time to come in. The following day my brother and myself went to the Steinbauer funeral home in Solon to meet them and pay for our direct cremation (unbeatable price btw). They were professional, helpful and informative throughout the whole process. The guy that lives on the premises (tim maybe) even offered to get a lock of hair for me. Something so small and intimate yet I was to bewildered to think of it but I am so glad I have it. They walked us through the process and gave a us a loose timeline on what happens next. I already had an urn and cremation jewelry (they did not mind putting ashes in the extra pieces) to leave with them. The day of the memorial I went to pick up the urn but there was some confusion and it wasn't quite ready. I was able to take the urn with me to the memorial but would need to return for the paperwork. The guy that lived on the premises (Tim maybe) said we could stop by after the memorial regardless of the time and he would take care of us. We showed up at about 1030pm or so and he was so gracious. Gaines refused to allow the paying caretaker survivor, who was also legally appointed by decedent, to fully honor the memory of the decedent. Senior extended family members who knew the decedent have expressed sadness and disappointment that Gaines would engage in "shady" practices. Only one person was satisfied; that one who colluded with Gaines, creating a contract that omitted the paying survivor, and then walked away with the overpayment in his pocket. He who signs the agreement should be the one who pays! Bottom line: any value was destroyed by Gaines blatant participation in messy behavior and refusing to consider the desires of the payer who is an equal survivor and the only person legally authorized by decedent to disburse funds on behalf of the decedent.
