I am so happy I found Huntington Beach Prosthodontics. Dr. Janelle Cheong did my cleaning, and she was incredibly thorough, kind, and gentle. She carefully examined every tooth, identified any problem areas, and took the time to explain everything to me. She never made me feel rushed, and I truly appreciated how genuine and caring she was. You can tell she really cares about her patients. I also saw Dr. Favian Cheong to repair a cracked filling, and I think that's the real test of a dental office. He was exceptionally gentle. I honestly didn't even feel the numbing injection. Throughout the procedure, he checked on me constantly, made sure I was comfortable, and gave me small breaks when I needed them. I also had a white spot on one of my teeth that I didn't think could be fixed. Dr. Cheong explained that it was actually a small surface cavity and was able to treat it quickly without any numbing. He explained everything he was doing and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. I've always struggled with going to the dentist because of a traumatic childhood experience. On top of that, I've recently been dealing with health issues affecting my ears, so dental visits have been especially difficult. This is the first office in a long time where I truly felt at peace. Another thing I really appreciated was the front office staff. They carefully reviewed all of my treatment costs before any work was done, so there were no surprises or confusing billing afterward. One thing that really sets this practice apart is that the dentists perform the cleanings themselves, with assistance from their dental assistants. That level of involvement makes a noticeable difference. It was one of the most thorough cleanings I've ever had. Dr. Janelle Cheong and Dr. Favian Cheong recently took over this practice, and it shows how much they care about providing exceptional dentistry. They are warm, genuine people who treat patients with kindness, respect, and compassion. My concern is that I repeatedly stated that I only wanted services covered by my insurance, yet I was still presented with charges for services I had specifically declined. That issue was not addressed in the response. The response also mentions transparency, but that was not my experience. I had to repeatedly ask which services were actually covered, which were optional, and which I would be paying for out of pocket. A friend of mine had a similar experience at this office. He came in for a routine cleaning and left with a large treatment plan, but never actually received the cleaning he originally scheduled. There is a difference between recommending necessary treatment and aggressively upselling optional services. Unfortunately, the line felt very blurred here, which is why I chose to seek care elsewhere.

I was quoted approximately $2,500 for a crown with the necessary foundation work, which seems well above the typical rates in the Huntington Beach area. In my experience, comparable treatment can be found at a lower cost in nearby Newport Beach. Additionally, the office is on the smaller side, and parking is limited, which can make visits a bit less convenient. Sorry, Dr. Khan--your expertise is priceless... unfortunately, my wallet strongly disagrees. LOL
