I am so happy that I found this dental office. I have never felt like I had complete transparency on cost when seeing a dentist, but that changed today. Not only was I informed on all options and price points before any costly work was performed, but I was also able to sit down with admin and she explained every aspect of my bill, explained my options given my insurance, answered all my questions with a smile and ensured that I was making the correct financial decision given my dental needs. I left my appointment with knowledge about dentistry and dental insurance that I had never heard before. Not Recommend!! They lied to us. My insurance for Crown Copay is supposed to be $350-400. They added up a lot of nonsense charges to $1200, and they said the insurance does not pay them. That doesn't make sense. I found out they got $600 from the insurance. Which means just 1 crown for $1800. That's crazy. read more

My first time to visit the office wanted to use my HMO instead of my PPO to see how things went, and the difference in costs to me. On March 3rd. I forgot to ask for Dr. Manoli and spoke said to her young associate who indicated that I may need a bridge replacement and I had a cavity one or two cavities, one on the opposite side of my mouth as I recall, I'm close to another bridge. Ideally, selecting a new doctor develops into a relationship in the best sense of the word. I requested the price and notes from the doctor on the recommended treatment.. I did this three times I left a message I sent an email. I left another message . Nada. Today is march 17 , still no information as to their plan of care nor my price with an HMO! The first time I called, the doctor was not in the second time I called to request copies of my dental x-rays and plan of action I was told the lady that prices procedures wouldn't be in until the following week. The third time I called I requested copies of my dental exam x-rays and was told they couldn't give me the color ones but could send the black and white, via email. They did (Thank you) I never indicated I wasn't interested in working with them nor did I ask them not to provide me with a plan of action and estimated costs, which I believe could be higher with an HMO on items not covered on a PPO. I still have my PPO and for the moment plan to continue with my present dentist who will only take the PPO. And gives me estimated costs before I walk out the door. Too bad because the office was certainly very warm lots of smiles I like the radio station. Plus several of my neighbors go there and they have stellar reviews. I absolutely love this place. The staff is very friendly and makes me feel very comfortable. The receptionist, Chante is amazing at what she does. She always has a smile on her face when she talks to the patients. Valerie, is very helpful with any questions regarding your treatment plan and the insurance side of things. My boyfriend went in for a tooth extraction. The receptionist, Valerie, noticed he was oddly having trouble speaking. She was concerned so she took his blood pressure....it was extremely high. Valerie and Dr. Manali realized something was wrong with my boyfriend so they did not do the procedure and insisted he go to ER. They proceeded to call an ambulance but my bf insisted on driving to the hospital close to his home. Long story short, my bf was diagnosed with a dangerously high calcium level and a tumor was detected on his right kidney. Needless to say, had they proceeded with the tooth extraction, it is very likely my bf would have gone into cardiac arrest. They saved his life! In addition, to detecting something was wrong and sending him to ER, Valerie and Chante made sure to continue to call my bf to make certain he was at the hospital. They also continued to make sure he was okay. Above and beyond is stating it mildly! Genuine care and concern is almost nonexistent with businesses these days but definitely alive and well at Harbor Smiles in Huntington Beach! My teenage daughter thought the dentist was friendly. However, the treatment plans put together by the office manager didn't correctly apply my benefit plan. I've reviewed and compared and the insurance wasn't applied correctly. As an example: the treatment plan indicates a code that shows the patient cost as $150.00 with no discount, but my benefit plan shows a co-pay of $15.00. In the short time my daughter was there it happened with different codes, on different appointments. I don't know if this is intentionally done to get more money, or carelessness, but either way, it's concerning. Also, the facility said my daughter needed a root canal and scheduled her with an out-of-network endo - which would have cost a lot more $$. I declined the out-of-network endo, and found one that was in-network. Once my daughter went to the appointment, that in-network endo examined her and said she DIDN'T need the root canal. From the treatments suggested to the treatment plan costs, it was hard to trust this place. read more

Office experience is a joke, can't manage to keep track of payments or estimates. Asked me to sign off on Invisalign payment schedule after more than a year of payments made. The final document was $1k over what I had originally signed off, but they aren't able to locate that one. Listed charges on an estimate, that should have been covered by insurance. After they corrected it, and my boyfriend paid the amount ; they attempted to charge him more after the fact. He went in for a cleaning and a filling, they "forgot" to do his filling and he had to come back. So done with this office. read more

The experience all around really amazing both front & back office very pleasant. Doctor Manali, impressed me with her knowledge, kindness and sensitivity discussing all issues. Due to insurance change our options are now very limited and our family had to jump over a couple of terrible experiences until finally we found a clinic that is worth trusting with one of my deepest fears and sensitive triggers. I scheduled for a regular teeth cleaning a month in advance. On the day of the appointment, I came in and they sat me down to do my X-ray and scanning. After an hour, they then told me to schedule to come back the next time because the hygienist is not there and the doctor is overbooked. This is such an unprofessional, poor practice. I've been going to Harbor Smiles since about 2017. I've had good experiences there and people are friendly. The hygienist Trang, is awesome. She always gets me to laugh and says I have a unique laugh. Dr. Patel explains the problems and procedures and helps me understand what has happened with my teeth. I have to have a tooth removed and I received a great explanation from Christina, of why things cost what they do and how to go about making the financial part work for me. This review is long overdue! My initial visit was for a crowned tooth that was truly painful and becoming loose. I expected the worst and it was true- the tooth needed to be extracted. In my head, I was panicking. Let me tell you... all that panick subsided rather quickly. The Harbor Smiles team are some of the most friendly and positive folks I've encountered. In my experience, my communication with them has been exceptional and responsive. They follow up and checked up after my extractions (removed 2 wisdom teeth later on). Frank, Alicia, Trevor, and the others have a wonderful synergy together. My hygienist, Trang, was informative about cleaning my teeth while putting me at ease. Both dentist have been helpful as well. I'm not going to front, I still have PTSD from past dental experiences. But, having Harbor Smile as my dental office helps a bit. read more

We weren't happy with our existing dentist so the search began for a new one. Looked thru alot of offices and reviews eventually decided to give Harbor Smiles a try. Couldn't have been happier with our decision. Everyone is very friendly and compassionate for everyone's different dental situation and needs. The quality of care and professionalism is top notch. I don't feel like their prices are unreasonable and never get the feeling that they are trying to recommend unnecessary work just to make more money. Sadly waited 40 minutes past my appointment time without any reason or update. Got X-rays done and had exam and then was told by the dentist she would be right back to see if I could get my teeth cleaned (I had called prior to see if I could do first appointment and cleaning at same time since I had a babysitter) The dentist never came back into the office and I'm pretty sure they forgot I was in there as I waited for 30 minutes in the chair before just leaving. Office seemed nice overall but not the newest equipment. I didn't feel like they valued me or my time. They did reach out to apologize, but I won't be heading back I also felt like they were trying to upsell me on more treatments and made comments like "oh you are here because of pain on your left side right" when clearly I was coming in for a new visit and never mentioned any pain. Instead they should just ask me if I was experiencing pain. The dentist also said I have four cavities and needed to schedule two deep cleaning visits.
