The second time in April 2024, Kenny quoted us for tree removal and stump grinding. They worked with us on scheduling around rain and had great communication for tree removal part of the job. But the day before tree removal Kenny said their stump grinder was broken and they couldn't do stump grinding. After removing the tree, he asked if I was comfortable paying for the tree removal part of the job they completed, which I agreed. Kenny said they would follow-up with stump grinding "tomorrow," but it was no-call/no-show. Then it was "next week," then again it was "we're busy with storm damage, first thing next week." I was pushed off for "next week" until after many weeks Kenny no longer responded via text. Glorioso Tree Service completed the work I paid them for, but I was led on for weeks on stump grinding that never happened. I had to hire another contractor to finish the job.

When nobody showed on Saturday, I had the limb taken care of by someone else. I wasn't too bothered until the owner called the following Tuesday and asked about rescheduling and I told her I was not happy about not being contacted at all. Her excuse was that she was out of town. Sorry lady, my time is just as valuable as yours. If you're running a business and know you won't be available, have someone else keep customers updated so they feel like they mean more to you than just dollars.

Kathryn, these are growing up through the mat you put under the rocks. You said that wouldn't happen. Her reply yesterday the 17th. Hi Lori, I had discussed with you that the bagged rock was full of dirt which is causing this issue. I blew off as much as I could the day of however there was still way too much. This is typical from bagged rock. My best recommendation now would be to remove the rock and throughly rinse the area of all dirt and debris or remove the rock (you can use elsewhere if you'd like), throughly clear all dirt and debris then lay new rock from my vendor. I want to point out that the weeds are coming from above the weedmat from the dirt that came with the rocks. If you move the nearby rocks to the weeds, you'll see that the start of the roots are on top then they're penetrating the mat allowing them to keep growing. I will be happy to come out again. Let me know which option you'd like to go with and I'll send you the estimate. My reply yesterday. No, I have pulled the rocks back, and they are through the mat in several places. Why didn't you rinse it when you put it down there if you knew that was an issue? There was a hose right there. So the mat is not stopping anything and you knew this would happen. So I paid you 2K for nothing other than making it a smaller area with the same issues. That is unacceptable, that I have to come after your work to remove and rinse what you knew to be a problem, and did not take care of. By the way, she said with the industrial mat nothing would come through, that's why she uses it. She only used two bags of new rock, the rest were the original rocks, she did not mention they needed to be rinsed along with all of the existing rock and she didn't do it. From the amount of dirt between the rock and mat it looks like she didn't rinse near enough or at all. Here is her reply. I did rinse it once it was laid and I blew off at high velocity. However it didn't remove all of it. I did let you know the day of about the issue with the dirt in the rocks. The roots are penetrating the mat from above not below. She said I rinsed it once AFTER it was laid, not before. So, the mat and the rocks were not rinsed before she put them back. Thus leaving the dirt in all of the rock she put back. So I still have grass and weeds growing in my new landscaping.

The trees appeared -to not have been pruned or shaped for a good number of years and were quite overgrown. The crew's training and knowledge as arborists was clear - both trees looked wonderful when they were done. The crew worked safe, they were careful to not damage things in the area, they were responsive to our input and questions, and they did an excellent job of cleanup. They didn't try to sell us any additional services; we were charged what they had quoted for the job. They had done work at our last place and our experience then was also very positive. These guys just do great work.

I figured I would take the first company who got there, and contact the other one not to come. I did not know Van Booven had arrived and was already working because they did not contact me or ring my door bell. I looked out my window and no one was there in front of my house. So when the other company called, I told them to come out. Turns out after the other company called and I told them to come out, I heard some machinery so I went outside and saw Van Booven's truck parked 2 houses north of mine - I have no idea why so far away. Then I saw a couple of men on my driveway working on downed tree limbs. The other company arrived shortly and I had to turn Van Booven away. I would have used Van Booven if they had let me know they were there. When I told them I was using the other company, the man said they would send me a bill. Honestly, if you were a house painter and a homeowner asked you to paint their house, would you paint it any color you wanted, or would you first consult with the owners? This was a similar situation. Van Booven sent me a bill for $325 just for coming out. Given the above information, I do not recommend Van Booven as I do not feel they are honest and I feel they did not care what I wanted because they did not consult with me before they began working.

Not That Guy with the F-150 Pickup Truck and a Chain Saw!…read more The mature trees in your yard are as much of a long term investment as the house itself, or even more so than the cars in your driveway. Always keep that in mind as you maintain your landscaping. Living an a 30 year old subdivision, our trees are definitely mature and prominent when viewing our house. Along with shading the house during the hot summer, they also provide some level of protection from high winds and ice storms. They can also increase the resale value of the property by adding stand out curb appeal. The majestic oak dominating the front yard, and the fragile Bradford pear near the curb, are like welcoming old friends as we enter the driveway. All the more reason to take care of them. When we first moved in over 12 years ago I called a guy whose business card was posted on the bulletin board at a local supermarket. His price seemed affordable, and he showed up pretty much on time. But when he left the tree looked like a bad barber college haircut! We also noticed the leaves dropping in groups and taking longer than other oaks in the neighborhood. We also experienced more broken limbs in the yard through out the winter. After a bit of research, I found that most tree trimmers were not certified Arborists (full trained professionals), and even fewer had the proper equipment to do the job safely and properly. The cost was bout the same as the guy with the F-150 pickup truck and chainsaw, but the analysis was more detailed and comforting. So the deal was struck! They showed up on time, with the proper equipment, and once again took me through all the proposed work for approval before starting. Needless to say, over the past few years (and many times I have called them back), we have been more than satisfied with continued attractiveness of our landscape and still consider it a true long term investment. Recommended? Without question! NEXT DAY UPDATE Opening up Facebook this morning I was overwhelmed by the number of photos of downed trees and fences. Since we had our mature trees trimmed yesterday, I wanted to see how they stood up to the 60 mph winds last night! To my amazement there wahs not a single broken limb in the yard! Even our 30 year old Bradford Pear tree near the driveway was standing proudly intact. Others in the neighborhood were not so fortunate, so I guess we have been doing something right! So yes, quality maintenance by true professionals can be critical to protecting your investment in landscaping. Kudo's to the folks at Arbor Mastes!
