They have amazing displays of all the pavers they sell so you know exactly what color each is and how it looks all put together. Justin was incredibly patient tending to lots of customers and answering my questions. I went home armed with a catalog that showed all the pavers and suggested patterns. A few days later, I went back with the measurements of my wooden frames. Justin sat down with his calculator and calculated the number of pavers and various types of sand and base material I needed. After I finished putting it all together, I was amazed to have less than 5 pavers and one bag of sand left! If you are willing to do the work, these folks can head you in the right direction so things turn out nicely. Sometimes construction folks are annoyed to have women ask for help, but everyone there was friendly and patient with my questions. Very good humored group of guys.

4 years ago: I got estimates from Mark and Co and 2 other suppliers. I hired Mark and Co because…read morethey were the lowest bid. Then they told me that they "forgot" to include one of the windows. They could not do the job for the quoted price, but they would do it for the price on the next lowest bid. So was this an honest mistake or a scheme to get the job at the best possible price? Incompetent or dishonest? I would be interested to know if anyone else had the same experience. Installers were dirty, poorly dressed, did not appear to know what they were doing. Left black fingerprints all over all of the interior walls. A year later I had to recaulk most of the windows. Co-owner Dave told me that I had a glass-breakage warranty. Present day: I had a broken window. The only reason I called Mark and Co is because they had promised me a glass breakage warranty. On 12/20 co-owner Kelly came and measured, and told me that I do have a glass breakage warranty. I informed Kelly that I am selling the house, that closing date is 1/13 and I need the repair done before then. Kelly said this would not be a problem. Mark and Co filed a warranty claim with Milgard on 12/20. I called Milgard on 1/4, they said Mark and Co had given them the wrong order number. After much back and forth with Mark and Co, they finally admitted that I do not have a glass breakage warranty. On 1/4 Kelly told me that "today" he would order glass to install in the existing frame, the glass would arrive 1/9, and he would install 1/10 or 1/11. On 1/9 I called to confirm this appointment. Dave told me the glass had not been ordered because Kelly "called in sick." 4 days to closing and the glass has not been ordered!!! Dave promised me that he would order the glass "today," and scheduled an appointment to install on 1/12 at 3pm. He did not show up for this appointment. At this point I cancelled my contract with Mark and Co and called another supplier. Kelly responded by leaving a rude, unprofessional, and threatening voice mail. Good riddance.

While the end result looks fine, the process was a long, drawn-out nightmare spanning three painful MONTHS. The project went on so long I even had a homeless camper sleeping on my porch, thinking the house was abandoned (though I was actually living there the whole time). I'd come home to find the workers wandering around smoking cigarettes and talking on their cell phones, complaining about how hard the work was. (As my neighbor pointed out, they never had to lift more than ten pounds max.) Someone had scrawled "Megan" in giant letters with permanent marker on the side of the house, and after weeks of coming home to this I inquired; apparently it was a hairdresser recommendation. Things were broken: the irrigation system, the fence, even the brand new sidewalk (chipped in two places by a drill), and the repairs ended up looking worse than the original damage. By the time they were wrapping up, they'd forgotten which cables to cut, and instead of asking, they just nailed them all back up on the brand new siding. One guy they brought in for a day stuffed his cigarette butts in the wall, so my bedroom smelled like an ashtray for ages. Bleck! That was seriously disgusting. Four years later, there is still an occasional toxic smell from whatever noxious adhesive that guy used. Jasen and Gary were knowledgeable, polite and professional, but they over-promised and under-delivered. In the end, their profuse apologies and even the small discount they agreed to didn't make up for the inconvenience of having a porta-potty, dumpster and loads of supplies/equipment on my small property for all that time, not to mention missed work days and Airbnb opportunities. They obviously have many a satisfied customer; I just wouldn't take that as a guarantee that you will have as positive an experience. I certainly would not consider using them again.
