If you got money to throw out the window. And getting your eyes poked out. You found the right place. They tell you what's wrong. And say they fixed it. Then u take it back and say it's doing the same thing. They look at it then tell you that something else is wrong. So now you paying more money. FUCK this place. I was on vacation with my family and our vehicle started to over heat and leak water. I called Johns Transmission and they told me to come In and they would take a look at my vehicle. Right away Gordon knew what was wrong, and told me it looked like the water pump. Within a couple of hours my vehicle was fixed and we were back on the road! Can't thank these guys enough for the honest and reliable service. read more

Had car towed to Aransas Pass after hearing this was a reliable business. Replaced a starter on 2015 Subaru ($400 for a $150 starter) probably took 30 min to 1hr tops, labor was $400. Must be nice. That's as much as a surgeon makes. read more

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN HONEST MECHANIC LOOK NO FURTHER. It's hard to find good people that will shoot you straight nowadays. I had my car towed to John's when it stopped running all of a sudden. Being that I was from out of town I was pretty sure I was going to get hosed. But what I found was John (Veteran by the way) who was quick, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. He knew I was in a hurry to get it fixed and easily could of used the problem I had, out of gas because gas gauge was off, to hose me for $800-$1000. Instead what does he do... Tells me what the actually problem is how I can get by until I want to shell out the $600 for the part and how to change it myself to save me some money. FOLKS THIS IS WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD LOOK LIKE. Now that my company has opened an office on Corpus I will be going to John for anything I need the guy is the best. read more

My experience at Johns was excellent! Despite my first impressions of the shop itself the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Instead of trying to sell me on a complete transmission rebuild they actually opened it up and found the problem and charged me accordingly. The prices were fair and the manager Brent was honest and up front. read more

John is a knowledgeable, experienced, and, most importantly of all, fair mechanic. He repaired the transmission on truck without rebuilding it, which several other mechanics have told me was the only solution to my problem. John himself is a nice guy. In my experience he's honest and responsible and dependable. He does excellent work. Aransas Pass is lucky to have a guy with as much skill who is also so even in his dealings. My truck started having trouble on the way back to Austin from seeing my parents in Portland. I could still get the truck to move on lower gears, so I drove it back to Portland and looked online for transmission service. John's shop had good reviews and wasn't too far, or over the bridge, so I decided to call and leave a message on his machine, since it was Sunday afternoon. To my surprise John answered the phone and after a short conversation about my truck, he was able to give me a pretty insightful explanation about what was going on with my truck's computer and why it wouldn't go into a higher gear. He told me to bring it in the next morning. At the shop he explained the how the diagnosis would be carried out and told us he'd have an estimate by the end of the day. He kept his word and recommended a repair to my transmission that was much less pricey than the total rebuild other mechanics had been telling me I needed for the last 6 or so months. The repairs were done in a reasonable amount of time, and the truck runs better than it has in years. If you live in San Patricio County and you have a transmission problem, I'd recommend at least taking it past John's shop and let him take a look at it. He really knows his trade well, and in my opinion he's very honest. read more

What can I say? John and his guys are the best! We came limping into town on a vacation. The car wouldn't shift into 4th gear. We'd been planning this vacation for a long time and the kids started crying when they thought we might have to turn around and go home. But we kept going and Monday morning I was in Port A on the phone with John. The first thing he did was reassure me that it was something electrical and it shouldn't mean a transmission rebuild. He could have taken me to the cleaners. I was sure we would need a new one. While my wife stayed behind with the kids I took the ferry over and pulled into the shop feeling desperate. Again, he could have told me anything. What did I know? But he didn't. They took it out for a long test drive and figured it out. Long story short, I rented a car but was back the next morning. It was fixed!!! And with enough time to return th rental and not have to pay for more than one day. John and his guys were kind and honest. And John is great to talk to. I wish we had them in Austin! read more
