Thank you Elvin for taking such a good care of my boots!!!…read more Short review: I am very "picky" ... maybe I just like things to be done professionally, and Elvin EXCEEDED my EXPECTATIONS. You won't be disappointed!! Elvin nailed it ... I LOVE HOW MY BOOTS LOOK! They look like brand new. He is a professional, he knows how to take care of boots. On top of that, Elvin and his wife, Mary, are very nice people. It has been a pleasure visiting with them, while taking or picking up my shoes. Long review: We recently moved to Ada. Moving to a new place, is hard to know where to go for things that you need. For me, it is even harder to know where to get my boots polished ... when you experience a "bad polish" you learn that you really need to find a professional. Based on my research, I decided to try Southerland Boots. When I pulled into his driveway, I wasn't sure if it was the right place. You've heard the phrase: "don't judge a book by its cover!" I'm glad I didn't. While talking with Elvin and Mary, I learned that working out of his house is temporary. I'm glad I followed my intuition. When you pull into his driveway, you may think is not the right place, but let me tell you ... if you want a professional to take care of your boot's needs, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!! You'll like "visiting" Alvyn every time you take or pick up your shoes. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

My husband left his work boots off and was supposed to take maybe a couple of weeks at the most…read more We live 2 hours away and husband called a few times & talked with Bobby to see if he was done. Just needed stitched around the tips on both. Kept getting excuses. He called 3 or 4 more times & no response back. Our daughter stopped by after 2 months and was going to pick them up, done or not. He couldn't find them & we'd been given a ticket voucher, he said that would do him no good. We went by the next day. He knew why we were there when walked in & they happened to be done. Only charged $20 for them and looked decent. Hope they last a long time. If you're not in a hurry, I guess he'd be okay but I just wouldn't recommend. He's very disorganized and likes to give tons of excuses.

Over two years ago, I left some family leather heirlooms with the "Leather Shop", in Guthrie, OK,…read morefor repair and restoration. I went ahead and paid cash in full at that time ($325) as a show of good faith. During the next couple of years, I made several calls and a couple of visits, to find out how things were progressing. Time and again I was told that they were extremely busy, taking on new work (which pushed mine to the back even though full payment had already been made), relocating, and the need to hire someone to help out. This past month I called once again, and was given the same run around. At that point, I decided to go get my items back, as I had no indication that they were ever going to work on my items, at least not in the very near future. The encounter that took place when I went to pick up my items was beyond anything that either myself or my wife had ever experienced from a business owner. When I asked for my items and reimbursement of my payment, I was accused of coming into the store with attitude. I was then informed that they did not offer refunds. I asked where that was written, and was told that it had been done verbally and that it was my word against his. At this point, the business owner went into what I can only describe as a rage. His demeanor, language and tone, were extremely concerning. So much so, that I was afraid that the police were going to have to be called in to calm him down, so that I could at least get my items back without them being damaged. After his ranting, he said that I could either leave the items for him to work on, or take them and lose what money I had already paid him. I told him that I would be speaking with my lawyer about the money, but wanted my items returned now as I could not trust that my items would even exist any longer if left in his care. With that, he grabbed the boots and slammed them on his workbench exclaiming "here's your sh&*". I then slammed them down as well, and turned and left the shop with my property. I cannot attest to how good of a job he does, as nothing of mine was worked on except having applied some oil to my Grandfather's leather pistol case. I can, however, state that this is the most unprofessional business owner that I have ever dealt with, and warn others to be extremely selective if you intend to have anything worked on by him. Get everything in writing, and insure that you do not pay in full as I mistakenly did. By doing so, there is no incentive for him to meet his obligation in supplying service in a timely manner. BUYER BEWARE!
