Dr. Umeda is amazing. I went to him as a last resort when my regular doctor couldn't give me answers to what was going on with my health. I wish I came to him sooner. He listens to your issues and concern, does a full health history and then explains what he thinks is going on and works his magic! I have seen him twice and I already feel better, the best in over a year! He has given me hope again! i highly recommend! read more

I am so grateful that I met Dr. Johnny Umeda! I had chronic back pain from 10 years. I had tried PT for 3 times, epidural steroid injections for 3 times, other Chiropractors as well. I have recommended him to lots of friends and they have also benefitted from his treatment. He is the best!! Thank you Dr. Umeda! read more

I told my friend I had intestinal issues and didn't want to go the medical route and take medication. She referred me to the Dr. Umeda. I called and we chatted on the phone and he said he could help me, so I went to see him. One has to be open to a more spiritual way of healing We spoke for about 30-40 minutes then he gave me a treatment, but not your expected chiropractic adjustments. Is there a problem that Dr Umeda can't solve? I came to Dr Umeda with a swollen and painful knee. My naturopath recommended him. This knee had been bothering me on and off for several years and I wasn't able to pinpoint a specific cause, as I hadn't injured it. I left my first appointment with no knee pain and more insight into what had been going on in my body for my entire life. Dr Umeda asks questions, because he wants to get to the root cause and what he told me blew my mind and has helped me understand myself and my body at a deeper level. That was almost a year ago and today, although I still have more healing to do, I am feeling more comfortable in a body that I used to want to escape. He truly cares about his patients. Dr Umeda has helped me with more than that. I am also getting my upper range of my singing voice back, as he has been helping loosen my stubborn tight neck. He is patient, so kind and incredibly knowledgeable. I have and will continue to recommend him. Thank you, Dr Umeda. I am forever grateful. read more

I had been dealing with a frozen shoulder issue and my naturopath recommended Dr. Umeda as someone who is good with helping cases where progress has slowed or plateaued. I don't typically seek out doctors for pain-related issues, but I am so glad I started seeing Dr. Umeda!! He is one of the kindest and most caring medical practitioners of any kind that I have come across to date. He genuinely listens to your concerns, and before and after each session he takes the time to do a physical assessment so you can both see the changes that have occurred from the treatment. He is a holistic doctor, so he looks at how the whole body is connected, and how a weakness in one area might translate to issues in one or more other areas. He also makes suggestions regarding diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes based on his years of experience, which have definitely helped me with my condition. One thing to be aware of is that he is more of a non-traditional chiropractor, but if you keep an open mind, you will definitely see results. Before starting to see Dr. Umeda I had eight sessions of physical therapy where I was making slow but steady progress. Then I saw Dr. Umeda for five weeks while simultaneously doing physical therapy. After each session with Dr. Umeda, I noticed my pain decreased while my range of motion increased. After that, I decided to end physical therapy and continued to see Dr. Umeda for five more sessions, and I was making clear and significant improvement after each session. After our last session, I had no significant issues with my normal everyday activities, and would consider my condition to be around 95% healed. Since completing our sessions a couple of weeks ago, I continue to do exercises on my own and expect everything to be completely back to normal soon. Beyond helping me with my frozen shoulder, Dr. Umeda was able to detect that I had a hip issue and urged me to see an orthopedist. I was not having any particular hip pain so I was a little surprised, but I decided to to get it checked out just in case. Well, after doing an x-ray and MRI, they discovered that I had severe osteoarthritis of that hip and that there was a small tear in the tissue of the hip socket, and that I should not be doing any weight-bearing activities. That is not something I would have ever discovered until maybe years later when the condition had significantly worsened. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Umeda for his knowledge, experience, and approach to healing. read more

Dr. Umeda is a miracle worker. I have had chronic lower back pain since having my second child 12 years ago. I also has pain up and down my legs and the bottom of my feet. When it started to affect my upper back and neck, I knew I had to do something. In just a few sessions Dr. Umeda improved my mobility, significantly reduced my pain level and I started being able to walk barefoot in the house again. In the following sessions over the course of this last year, he has helped me with diet, exercise regiments, supplements, and we've focused on my overall health and well being holistically. I can't speak highly enough of his effectiveness. I feel like a new person after all the years of chronic pain. He's also a lovely person and so easy to talk to. His office is spacious, clean and there is plenty of parking. read more

Dr Umeda is magic!!! He has pulled me out of some horrendous health disasters more than once! He is my A Team.

Arthritis? Anyone suffering from this ailment? I was diagnose with arthritis in my rt. hip 10 years ago and figured there wasn't much more I could do other then exercise, stretch, and watch my weight (advice from my orthopedic doctor) I went through the Dr.'s physical therapy program and afterwards started the stretching and exercise program, but I still had persistent pain in the hip area. I just went to Dr Umeda for the first time and to be honest wasn't expecting much....but, Wow! Unbelievable! After one session there was a significant improvement in flexibility and pain! I don't understand how it works or why, but I can honestly say it really works! After the 1st session, that 1st night sleeping was the first time in 10-years it was pain free! And deeper stretches in my hip area are easier and less painful...I feel like running again!! A big to Johnny for giving my hip back to me. read more

I have been seeing dr umeda for 7-8 months now. I first went to him because of the back pain I was having. He is not a traditional chiropractor. He is a healer. He knows what he is doing. I highly recommend. But the key is to be consistent by seeing him and listen to his advice! read more

Wonderful unconventional chiropractor healer. He helped me heal myself unlike any other person has through body work and supplements. He has superb insight and intuition, and has amazed all that I have referred to him. Thanks Umeda! read more

This biggest difference between Dr. Umeda and other practitioners is that he is INTERESTED in finding the root problem(s) that have led to the ailment. He has an immense desire to help people, and he does this in a non-traditional, yet extremely effective way. If you have tried to get out of pain for years, but keep ending up back at the chiropractor/acupuncturist with the same pain, I cannot recommend Dr. Umeda enough. He basically got me out of foot pain in the first visit. My neck pain (which was chronic and excruciating for years) has been greatly reduced. I drive an hour an a half to see him. If you are open to a different approach and are ready to feel better, this is your doctor. read more

Hey fellow Yelpers, I'm done with my treatment now and wanted to give an update. My health in my initial problem areas has improved dramatically and as a big bonus, other parts are may health have improved as well. I have not had allergy symptoms in the last two months which was amazing because some months out here in Thousands Oaks, there were weeks when I'd walk out to my car and there would be a fresh layer of yellow pollen waiting for me...totally don't affect me know. Also, my acne has dramatically improved and I've cut down on topical acne medication use in half. I really feel blessed to have been introduced to Dr. Umeda from a co-worker because now for the rest of my life, I will know how to treat my body the right way and hopefully avoid any life threatening diseases. read more

I've had decades of experience with chiropractors. Mostly good experiences. Dr.Umeda's unique approach to my problems got results immediately. I'm a professional composer/musician. I have always had issues with my guitar technique. My control and speed were hindered by some physical issues in my right arm and wrist. It never made any difference how much I practiced. After my first treatment with Dr. Umeda my speed and accuracy increased stably 5%. After several month I'm at a 20% improvement with no increase in my practicing habits. And I'm still improving. Totally due to my visits to Dr. Umeda. That's major and not the only benefit. Other areas of my body have become more flexible. And certain aches and pains are gone. I had given up on ever improving my musicianship. Dr. Umeda changed all that. read more

I recently started seeing Dr. Umeda. He was referred to me by a long time friend of mine. I knew he was a chiropractor and a healer. I have had chronic headaches for years which I wanted to get help for. Dr. Umeda spoke softly and delved into many areas of my life and we covered a lot of ground very quickly. The physical work he did on me allowed me to let go of lots of energy that was stuck. My headaches have almost completely disappeared and I am beyond grateful. I have experienced so much transformation in just over a month. I am so blessed to have met this very special person who continues to heal, help and enlighten me . Thank you !! I highly recommend him to anyone. He is gifted beyond words and he has a heart to heal anyone. read more

Dr. Umeda is an awesome clinician. He is thorough, patient, and makes sure both he and the patient are doing all that is possible to help in the healing process. From the 2 hour initial appoint to the short but very effective therapy sessions, he is worth every penny of his very reasonable fees. I've treated with other chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists and physiatrists, but nothing compares to immediacy and effects of Dr. Umeda's treatments and the fact that the treatments also help my body heal itself...its relief and the total health that I've benefitted from and that I totally appreciate. I've enthusiastically recommended friends, neighbors, co-workers and family members, even my husband and everyone is amazed at Dr. Umeda's grasp of physiology and his ability to hone in on the physical and dietary habits that contribute to our own dis-ease process. He educates and addresses both the physical and the dietary and as a result we all (me and those of us who are blessed by his care) have better control of our pain and disease issues and are much happier because we experience better health and 90-100% less pain. Who can beat that!! No matter what your condition, chronic, acute, arthritis, or even the impact of aging (however the aging process expresses itself), whether its knee or back, ankle or shoulder....you need to get an appointment and experience a more natural and wholistic form of health. Dr. Umeda is awesome!!! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Umeda for 3 years. I was referred to him by two friends from completely different social circles. When I heard his name referred to me the second time I thought, I should probably give him a call. I had chronic lower back pain & weakness to the point where I would be crawling at times. I also had IBS and other minor health issues. I finally was so fed up with my back pain and weakness that I booked a consultation with him. The first time I met him I knew he was different than any other Dr. I had ever seen. He patiently learned about my whole health history from a physical, mental and psychological stand point. I left the first appointment with very little back pain and I was able to stand straight again, move at all angles and pick up my daughter with CONFIDENCE! He also suggested ways for me to change my diet by going gluten and diary free. All my IBS symptoms went away within a couple of months. I have referred Dr. Umeda to many friends and they all have received success due to Dr. Umeda's care and treatments. read more

It has been three weeks since I started seeing Dr. Umeda. He was referred to my by one of my good friends. I suffered a ruptured disc six months ago, and I had been dealing with back pain since then. The first time I met him I told him that he is my last resort and he can't help me, I am planning to do back surgery. We discussed my health for 15 to 20 mins, and he calmly said: "I think I can help you." It has only been three weeks, but I can't believe how much my back pain and quality of life has been improved. He is truly a healer and genuinely a good person, and I highly recommend for anybody to see him. read more

Dr Umeda, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for helping improve my overall living! I've been seeing Dr Umeda for the last 2 months, and in those 2 months my health has definitely changed for the better. Before Dr Umeda I was always tired and felt like i had no energy. Dr Umeda showed me the way to eating healthy and improving my physical strength. I went to Dr Umeda for my asthma, ringing in my ears and just feeling like something was't right. My 1st visit with Dr Umeda, I was there for 3hrs, yes 3 HOURS. He wrote down everything from my childhood to now (30). That day I left his office feeling like a new person. He explained things none of my physicians could explain. Explained what types of food are good for me, Gluten free, no dairy, no sodas, no candy, no fast food. I didn't know if I would be able to make such dramatic changes to my diet but I'm here to tell you its not that difficult and there are so many other delicious, tasty food you can eat. I am so happy with my new healthy diet that not eating those foods makes it all worth it! He has given me the confidence and strength to want to live a long happy and healthy life. read more
