I came here 6 years ago and I still talk about this place…read more Fresh fish n chips and a pint doesn't get any more authentic than a place like this. Seeking refuge from the cold and wanting not frozen but fresh fish n chips and this place checked all the boxes. I walked in and the smell of fresh burning wood washed over me and I knew I was in the right place. Adorned with quotes and driftwood/branches, I took a gander around and sat up at the bar and was greeted with a smile from a super knowledgeable tender of the bar. He let me know what type of fish it was (do I remember? no, but it wasn't the average "white fish" answer I was used to getting) and that it was just caught the day before. Not much more I can say than this is the place to eat for an authentic Irish cuisine, pint and overall feeling than this is the place in Sligo area to go to. Thank you for the memorable experience, I hope to one day return here!

We were there on the Saturday night and they had a band on which was actually pretty cool - major set up and they played some nice tunes - really enjoyable. But enough about that. What we're really here to talk about is the pizza. The pizza. It is as good as it gets folks. Stone baked with a lovely thin crust, and the toppings. Ah the toppings. There are so many to chose from. But. Just get the Black Rock. Don't worry bout the rest. We're talking loads of lovely Irish rashers, with more lovely black pudding, with loads of goat's cheese, and to bring it all together, carmelised red onion on top of that. So. so. good. And, they're all only 9.95. Winner! Can't wait to go back!

Then roll over to the Reel Inn (it's just at corner near the bridge) where they have live music every night of the week and usually a good crowd. As a local (or ex-local) going in here for the 1st time I felt like I'd walked into Deliverance (google it), some odd folk from the bogs, townies, rockers, and maybe a few fellas barred from all the other pubs in town, and then mixed in is usually a load of English tourists, and surprisingly it works! Everyone's having the craic, these bog critters are friendly and are trying to wind me up, we'll all supping our drinks and enjoying the music, the tourists are dancing away, and usually it's a great night, and everyone's good and drunk by the end of the night and I mean drunk. Sometimes the music is hit-or-miss, sometimes it's a bit of jam session, other times it's quite good. On quite nights there may not be many musicians there and the owner get's up and play. And both him and the missus are decent friendly folk. I just wish they poured a better Guinness or had a nice Heff-Weisse. ;)
