We received outstanding service this morning from Johnathon Brown Electric and their technician Daniel. When the outlet behind my coffee maker started making alarming noises, we shut off the breaker and called our regular electrician. After two hours with no response, we tried another. Still no reply. Meanwhile, the refrigerator was off too, and we were not about to lose all our food. We turned to Yelp. The reviews looked solid, so we called. They answered right away. A few minutes later, we got a text saying Daniel was on his way and would arrive in 16 minutes. And he did. We described the issue, he inspected the outlet, and removed the cover. The receptacle was cracked in five places, with melted and burned plastic. It was a dangerous mess that could have turned into a serious problem. Daniel replaced it, flipped the breaker, and everything came back to life. No more crackling. Coffee maker working. Fridge humming again. We are very happy with the service and have added Johnathon Brown Electric to our go-to list. If we have another electrical issue, they will be our first call. This fan was originally supposed to be installed by the contractors from Lowe's. Due to a LOT of miscommunication and taking over 6 weeks for a refund on Lowe's service fees, I started looking elsewhere for installation services. Definitely recommend (they charged less than Lowe's and did an amazing job)! I asked about a garage lighting project and they are currently working on the estimate for a this proposed lighting upgrade (from basically nonexistent) in our garage. read more

I hired Brown Electric to double check the installation of my attic exhaust fan. I couldn't hear it running. 2 polite gentlemen showed up to take a look, and confirmed that it was indeed installed correctly and was running properly. Because they really didn't do any actual work, I was not charged. I wanted to write a review anyway because I wanted to praise their fair business practices. My basement was wired and finished by the original owner of the house. Ever since the back to back snow storms in Jan/Feb 2026, my basement GFI had been tripping out. I had a lot of loads on one circuit, but unplugging various items didn't fix it - plus, it had never given us issues before the storms. I replaced the GFI, which didn't fix it, and I replaced the breaker - which also wasn't the culprit. I hired JBE to troubleshoot the system. There was a confluence of issues. Turns out the only problem was the breaker had tripped on our septic pump (long story), and neither myself nor the two service companies that came out to look at it had bothered to check it. Went above and beyond to diagnose and repair the problem - working outside in the POURING rain on the breaker box and correctly (to code) rewiring the bathroom and kitchen circuits that had been on the same circuit as well as some wiring that was obviously going bad. New homeowner, 20YO home, lots of little things breaking/wearing out/not working as they should. Previously hired a different electrician to deal with a problem when I first moved in but I thought they were quite expensive so gave JBE a try this time. I hired them for two tasks: 1) removing old bathroom lighting and replacing with new and 2) figuring out why none of the bathrooms in the home had power to any of the outlets. Arrived on time and task #1 was taken care of no problem, new lighting looks great, big improvement and at a very reasonable price. The second task turned out to be complicated, and it was like fixing one thing turned up another problem somewhere else - but Jerry persisted despite having to stand outside in the POURING cold rain working on the circuit breaker box for literally hours. In the end he diagnosed & fixed the original problem and diagnosed & fixed an even bigger/fire hazard problem with the breaker box = all the time keeping me informed and showing me the steps he was taking as he diligently worked to track down the ultimate source of all the problems. He never tried to upsell me, I never felt like he was trying to get one over on me or take advantage of me or overcharge me. If anything they undercharged me for the number of hours he ended up working. I'm happy with the new lighting and very happy he put in the extra time and effort to fix what could have turned into a MAJOR problem with the breaker wiring. The contractor we hired that never finished the job left us in a bind and did a lousy job with what they did do. Joshua from Johnathon Brown Electric came in and fixed nearly everything as it should be on the electrical side. There were only a couple things he pointed out that we agreed that he wasn't going to fix because it would have to be completely replaced first due to the negligence of the previous contractor. The fact that we were told when someone would arrive and what it would cost to fix were both accurate. The only thing that wasn't accurate was the timeframe to finish, which he finished EARLIER than expected. The opposite of most contractors we've dealt with. I doubt that we will ever call any other electrician for our house. read more

I had an issue with several outlets not working. I reset the breakers, but still wasn't working. Called Johnathon Brown Electric because of the good reviews. Ethan came out same day. He was very polite and professional. He looked everything over and then said it would be $249 for diagnostic. I even asked him on the side, that it's not some stupid simple fix and he said he didn't see anything. After working on it for a few minutes, he let me know everything is working. Basically, the GFCI switch was in the upstairs bathroom. While he did replace it, it was not really necessary. Super bummed that I paid $249 for such a simple fix. read more

The outlets in my master bath weren't working so I gave them a call. Steve and his co-worker, Ethan, came out this morning to check things out. They were extremely polite and friendly and were very thorough in trying to determine what the problem was. After looking at just about every outlet in the house, they found that a GFI outlet in the spare bath was malfunctioning so they replaced it. When that didn't solve the problem, they pulled the other outlet in that bathroom and it was MELTED under the cover plate!! It could have caused a fire and they found it before something terrible could have and most likely would have happened at some point. I'm so grateful for their thoroughness!! I have wanted recessed lights in my home for sometime now. I asked around and Johnathan Brown Electric was recommended to me. I called and set up an appointment for one of their electricians to come out and take a look. The receptionist that answered the phone was polite and friendly! The day before my in-home estimate they emailed to remind me of the appointment. Good communication on their part! Matthew arrived well within the 2 hour window they had given me. He was also very friendly, professional and polite. After our walkthrough and his recommendations I decided to move forward with the Price he Quoted and he was able to do the installation right then and their! I was very pleased with this and it absolutely met my expectations! I will mention that because of an old light fixture that was originally placed above my Kitchen sink at the time my home was built there is still a little bit of patch up work to be done on my part to make the necessary repairs. However the work that Matthew did was excellent, he installed 2 ultra thin recessed lights, 1 of which was replacing the old fixture I mentioned and the other one in a spot above the oven where there was no fixture before! he also upgraded 1 of my dimmable light switches in my guest bathroom. I am so pleased that I have actually already made an additional appointment for him to come and add a recessed light above my newly renovated shower!
