My only sadness is that it turns out Dr. Sinclair is not in my insurance network so I won't be able to afford coming there in the immediate future, but I am happy to pay the out of pocket cost for the exam I received from this office recently. The dentist and staff were friendly, well educated, and thorough. Having moved around a lot, I have become very skeptical of most dentists. I have been screwed around by a lot of dentists who see me as a new patient, see the fillings I've had since childhood and think they can take advantage of me and my insurance from the get-go. From being told at a prior dental office that I have 9 cavities, 3 of which are "critical" to take care of right away (and then at the next office being told I have no cavities at all), to being told that a crown that was placed less than a year prior needed to be replaced (!!!out of pocket again, I think not!!!), I have lost trust in most dental offices. Red flags I've noticed in other dental facility reviews include "the office has the most up to date equipment and the staff explain financing options in a very friendly way", in nearly every single review, that suggests to me that it is rare for someone to go in for a cleaning and leave without an appointment for some expensive work to be done that surely pays for their 'most up to date equipment'. That all being said, I was initially drawn to Dr. Sinclair by having many lifetime patients noted in the reviews and no evidence for upselling his patients. My visit to this office was the only time in my adult life when I've actually been told I am taking great care of my teeth! Thank you Dr. Sinclair. Both my 85 year old father and I are patients of Dr. Sinclair. He is an amazing dentist. He is also kind, considerate and responsive. My father has a lot of problems and these include emergency situations , especially for him. Dr. Sinclair listens to him. He cares a lot about people. He makes us all feel important. He respects his patients. I have no love for dental work. But, he has taken a lot of my fear away, too. I highly recommend his practice. read more

Dr Sinclair and his whole staff deserve 5 stars! Everyone is friendly and makes you feel comfortable. I had to have a tooth pulled. Ugh! I was very nervous and Dr. Sinclair is great at putting you at ease and making you feel very confident that all will be well. He's the best when it comes to giving injections. I didn't even feel them!!! My tooth was out so fast I didn't have time to think about it. I highly recommend Dr. Sinclair for any dental work you may need. He also always tries to make the procedure needed at the lowest cost instead of like a lot of dentists you feel like you have to refinance your home or sell one of your kids. This is my second yelp review for Dr. Sinclair. I first reviewed him last year when I had a very thorough check up and got the bad news that I needed some extensive dental work. I had the first of those appointments yesterday, which was two hours and not fun! Yet somehow, he and his staff made it-- if not exactly fun-- not horrible either, which is how I had expected to feel. Dr. Sinclair does everything he can to make his patients feel comfortable, minimize or eliminate any pain and even while he and his staff are very professional, they will even make you laugh. Or at least smile. After he worked on me for a good two hours he made sure I was feeling OK before going onto his next patient. I don't know how he does it but I'm very glad he does. I wouldn't want to go to any other dentist at this point. I'm not exactly looking forward to my upcoming dental work with Dr. Sinclair but I sure am glad I found him to do the work I need to have done. I have confidence in him and the 3 times I have been there, he always runs on time too, which is a big plus. An absolutely stellar dentist with an excellent staff! read more

I'm so greatful for there kind considerate nature and most of all the best bedside matter I've had the privilege of experiencing after years of horrible dentistry. RECOMMENDS UNNECESSARY PROCEDURES! When I moved to Petaluma, I gave John Sinclair a try. He used some hokey apparatus hooked up to a small TV monitor to look into my mouth, after which he said I needed NINE FILLINGS -- WITHOUT ANY X-RAYS BEING DONE. I had never needed fillings before and had been getting regular check-ups and cleanings my whole life, so I was both alarmed and skeptical. I opted for a second opinion from another DDS in Petaluma and I am very glad I did. The other DDS dismissed John Sinclair's recommendation as unnecessary!!! I was a new mother at the time and terribly sleep deprived, so I didn't have the energy to report John Sinclair to the BBB at the time. Years later, I am still moved to write this negative review of John Sinclair. Now, I finally have done it. I hope it will save someone from having to have unnecessary dental work done. I still haven't needed one filling in the six years since I saw him! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Sinclair's for over 15 years. The care I receive from him and his staff is excellent. Not to mention, they are a friendly and upbeat bunch, which is a good thing at a dental office! Dr. Sinclair is very knowledgeable and thorough when explaining various options, and has a very gentle approach (especially when I've had to get a dreaded shot, he is very calming and reassuring and it never ends up being as bad as I fear). I foolishly dropped my partial denture in the sink and broke off a tooth. I called Dr. John's office and Cindi scheduled me to see Dr. John and send it off to the lab the first thing the next morning. I've been going to Dr.Sinclair since is was 5. Dr. Sinclair went WAAAYYYYY out of his way to help me out. This past week I got a hold of Dr.Sinclairs office because of a terrible tooth pain I was having. This pain had been going on for months but it finally got to a point where I couldn't stand it anymore. When Dr.Sinclair took a look at the X-ray and at my tooth I had no doubt that he really knew exactly what he was doing. My family and I have been going to him for over 20yrs and he has been there for us during non office hours in various dental emergencies. I also enjoy the fun and upbeat staff. They manage your expectations by walking you through all processes, meeting commitments, and helping you understand your options. They go way, way above and beyond what I've ever experienced with any dental office when it comes to emergencies including several staff coming in a few times when office was closed (I can't promise that for other patients of course). When I had dental emergencies while traveling, Dr Sinclair was there for me by phone to consult. He partners with his patients rather than having a holier-than-thou attitude. I drive all the way to Petaluma from San Francisco to go to this dentist because Dr. Sinclair listens and gives me choices. I could not find this type of consideration in San Francisco after contacting several dentists and asking questions. So far I have gotten one crown and some minor repairs on some chipped teeth. I couldn't ask for a better atmosphere or more professional work. I have had no problems with what has been done. I do not feel I am having procedures I don't really need pushed on me for the financial benefit of someone else. Also the staff is very cheerful and helpful. A very positive atmosphere. Kathy usually cleans my teeth and it doesn't feel like such a chore getting it done because she makes it more like fun. read more

I've been going to Dr Sinclair for a long time now. Both Dr Sinclair and Kathy the dental hygienist are wonderful. I've tried a lot of dentists in my life and Dr Sinclair is the most honest and caring one of all, great for people who are afraid of dentists. And Kathy is always so cheerful. I moved to the South Bay a couple years ago which means I have to drive an hour and a half to get to Dr Sinclair's office, but it's totally worth it. I have extreme fear of dental work. By the time I got to Dr. Sinclair I was in very bad shape. A co-worker told me about him who also had fear of dental work. I gave him a try and because of him and his staff (the BEST) I have continued my care with him and am rounding the corner to a healthy mouth! I had used all of my insurance going from emergency to emergency with my teeth. He is the first and ONLY dentist to let me make payments. He knew I needed help and that the condition of my teeth were dire. I was chronically ill and had sinus infections every 3 months. He cared enough for me to take the payments I could make. Trust me when I say...nobody does that anymore. His care has made me trust again, a really big deal for me. The entire office is kind, supportive, and I actually look forward to going now.
