After twelve years with my former dentist, I was looking for a more professional atmosphere and office with higher quality treatment. As soon as I entered the office, I felt a calming presence. Candles lit, healthy refreshments offered, a beautiful decor., and a staff that is absolutely fabulous! It reminded me of walking in to a nice Sense Spa. Dennis at the front desk is a gem. Very professional and genuine, highly qualified in all areas of office management, insurance, and an excellent communicator who is pursuing a dental career himself! Linda, the dental hygienist was super. After only one minute in the chair for my first cleaning, I felt like I had known her for years. Jose, the dental assistant has a very handsome and calm demeanor and is very professional. I appreciated not only the aesthetics of the office, but the extra special touches that this office provides: keeping your lips moist during the procedure :-) and a 'warm face towel' :-) as a final touch!! Now, Dr. VanCamp...Whoa! I've been going to the dentist since I was a child, and this was "by far" the best experience in a dental office that I've ever had. I'm talking leading edge technology (which I love). All forms, documents-paperless! easy- to-use computer technology. State-of-the-art equipment~same day crown replacement, and most importantly for me, friendly, professional, and a sense of calm compassion and respect from Dr. VanCamp. He has a great team, and they all work very well together. I am an elementary school teacher and one thing that I practice and model with my students is teamwork and respect. During my procedure today, I noticed Dr. VanCamp's communication with his staff and assistant Jose. He was very complimentary to his assistant; always thanking him for every bit of assistance that was given. I was kept well informed throughout the process and experienced no pain! After never having a cavity or any sort of dental procedure, I broke my back left molar really bad and didn't know if it could be saved because I was missing about 1/4 of the tooth. Dennis at Dr. Van Camp's office immediately made me feel welcome and reassured me that I didn't need to be petrified of having dental work done. I had done my research and upon meeting Dr. Van Camp, I immediately knew I made the right choice. His passionate tone when he told me that he would do whatever it will take to save my tooth made me feel so much more relaxed and confident about having the procedure done. He gave me all options and talked me through what he suggested as the best and alternative routes we could take. I didn't realise that they could do everything there on the spot and was pleasantly surprised that I was going to have my tooth fixed right then and there. When I had a slight freak out after they put the device in my mouth that helps you breathe during the procedure, Dr. Van Camp was very patient and reassuring with me that all was going to be ok. I was able to make it through the rest of the treatment with flying colours! I went back for a follow up two days later and everything is healing amazingly. Just in case, Dr. Van Camp gave me his mobile number and told me to call him if I experience any problems whatsoever. I can't even say how grateful I am that I still have my tooth and I would highly recommend his practice to anyone seeking the highest of dental care professionals. I have been a patient of Dr. John VanCamp for over 10 years. He helped me regain my confident smile. I had a partial denture that I was never happy with and Dr. VanCamp was able to replace it with porcelain implants. They are much healthier and function like my regular teeth. I couldn't be any happier with them. His holistic approach to dentistry is what made me follow him throughout all these years. He also replaced all of my mercury fillings safely. He uses the CEREC technique so that he is able to make your porcelain crowns and onlays while you wait. He even does a custom staining and glazing so they match your teeth perfectly. So convenient! In addition, his staff makes sure you always have a relaxed and comfortable appointment. They even provide lavender shoulder wraps and warm towels. I also had Invisalign treatment to correct my bite. Dr. Van Camp has been my dentist since he opened his offices close to Union Square in SF. I just had another successful appointment on Thursday and feel compelled to share about it. Dr. Van Camp did an implant 3 month ago and this was the time to fit the crown. I am terrified of any kind of dental work, but the calm office and amazing Staff help a lot. Dr. van Camp was his usual competent and assuring professional and even took care of filling that seemed to have fallen out on the way. I probably was clutching my teeth to tight. ;-). The visit was longish but only uncomfortable a few times and I reappeared from the 14th floor of the Post Street building with a much more confident smile, no pain whatsoever. I have never had even a good experience with a dentist. I never had a dentist or staff try to get to know me or care who I am until I walked into Dr Van Camps office. From the minute I called(spoke to Dennis) and explained that I was losing my insurance they treated me like I had been a patient for years. The entire staff made me feel super comfortable and I never felt like they were pushing to upsell me. The office space is very impressive with a spa like feel and the work area is filled with high tech computer equipment(no paper needed!!). Dr Van Camp explains everything while he is working on you. They are all dog lovers(super important in this city)!!! I have been in 3 times in the last 2 weeks and go back in 2 weeks for my free teeth whitening. I'm new to SF and also had not been to a dentist for a number of years. So not surprising that I needed a fair amount of dental treatment. I initially went to another dentist who's service was disappointing and recommended some significant treatment (surgery). I decided to get another opinion and went to Dr. Van Camp. What a great move on my part! Not only are the "regular" services delivered by a great friendly and accomodating staff (cleanings, etc.), John has recommended some alternative treatment protocols which could mitigate the need for surgery. I also appreciate the attention John gives to his patients, even for visits that are just routine cleanings. While I do not think I will ever enjoy a trip to the dentist, the thorough, friendly and quality service that John and his staff deliver makes it all somewhat less "painful". read more

I went for my first visit to Dr. VanCamp for an infection in one of my wisdom teeth. Usually I get very anxious when going to the dentist but this time was different. Since I got there I felt relaxed. Not only the office feels like a realm of peace, but also Dr. VanCamp has something that makes you feel that everything is going to be alright. Also, Dr. VanCamp is surrounded by an excellent team that makes you feel comfortable all the time. BTW, thanks Dennis for being so attentive in my first appointment! Dr. VanCamp checked my wisdom tooth. He saw clearly that was an infection and gave me what I need it. He also gave me further indications to keep my wisdom teeth in shape until their extraction. Dr. Van Camp has been my dentist since he opened his practice by Union Square. It's been many years and I could not be better taken care of. He has seen me through implants, a broken front tooth and much more, and he always treated my afflictions in the least intrusive and most affordable way possible. Dr. Van Camp and his staff could not be more friendly, personable and supportive. Mind you, that I am terrified of anything having to do with my teeth and that my pain tolerance is non-existent. Additionally, Dr. Van Camp is trained and continues to get trained on new and specialized procedures, resulting in him being able to address presenting problems in his office that others would refer out to specialists. I've been going to this dental office for about a year now and love it! Dr. VanCamp removed all of my mercury fillings and replaced them with biocompatible porcelain... Hands down the best dentist in SF. If you are looking for a dental team who incorporates the latest in technology and materials in a comfortable, relax environment then look no further. The entire team is professional, personable and even cool - very refreshing! I hadn't been to the dentist for a couple years and knew I needed some hidden dental work - which they easily detected. They took the time and walked me through each procedure I need to have done. The DA sat down with me and he helped me strategize on the treatments I need as soon as I can do them and things that I can hold off doing - there was no pressure having anything done. Like many others out there, I have had my share of dentist horror stories to the point that I was pretty afraid of all of them. Dr. Van Camp changed that. He and his staff are compassionate and thoughtful, and made sure I was comfortable with everything every step of the way. I have been in for an initial consult, cleaning, and free teeth whitening (thank you Fernando and Greg at Energy 92.7!), and then my follow-on appointment to replace two aging and disintegrating fillings was today. One of the best dental experiences I've ever had! John VanCamp and his team at Respect your Mouth create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere when it is needed most. My teeth are very sensitive, so I was concerned that I would be "white knuckling" the chair when she cleaned my teeth. I felt nothing! Dr. Van Camp is the best dentist I've ever seen, bar none. I have very bad/week teeth and bad dentists in my younger years. He's managed to make corrections, replace old silver/lead fillings, correct prior dentists' errors, and keep them healthy and looking much younger than their age. my experience with vancamp dentistry was awsome,they accomidated my payment plan and worked with me all the way through. the dental work was beautifull and still looks just like I walked out of the office. they have drinks and fresh fruit for you while you wait and a lovely view.
