I had two crowns placed last year to the tune of $1600. They are both loose now, and Dr. Zaffer won't acknowledge that. Additionally, he wants to charge me $1080 dollars to fill three small cavities, even though I have insurance. He wants to take three hours to fill these cavities. This is typical of how much time he takes to get things done. In the meantime, you are left in the front office as your Novocain wears off before he ready to get it done. This dentist should not even be in business! If you are reading the reviews You will see there is not one good review for this dentist!! He has proven to be a complete jack ass! He charged me $800 for an onlay , I did not know exactly What that was at the time. It is a fancy word for a very expensive filling. However, here I am four years down the road and it cracked! Now I have to have a crown put on it which he should've done in the first place. It will cost me another $800 and It takes about two hours for the procedure. The silver lining is I was reading his reviews and it looks like he did a crown on somebody and it came loose within a year! This dentist needs to go back to school and learn something! Not to mention his bedside banner is really bad. He is very rude has no manners whatsoever. A word to the wise look for a good dentist! Look at all the reviews ask friends where you should go! A year ago, I went in for a routine checkup and cleaning, which Dr. Zaffer did in a very quick and perfunctory way, I thought. But Dr. Z insisted he replace a old crown (which had given me no trouble) with a new one. Against my better judgment I got the new crown and it gave me nothing but trouble. It was too high and kept jarring against my upper teeth. I went in to get it adjusted, but Dr. Z took one quick pass and didn't fix the problem. I just went through a very painful abcess on this tooth and root canal surgery for more than $1000 out of my own pocket (from another dentist, of course). And all this for a crown that I was never convinced needed replacing. read more

I'll begin by saying that Dr. Zaffer has always been a nice man and his staff was very good in my nearly 11 years as a patient of his. Unfortunately, I have recently had increasing concerns about Dr. Zaffer's abilities and judgment as a dentist. I have moved on to another dental facility and I have two family members who have left Dr. Zaffer after nearly three years with him. The main point of contention is simple: Dr. Zaffer does not stand behind his bridge and crown work. To elaborate, we've all had bridges made by Dr. Zaffer and all have failed within 3 years - in one case, less than a year. In all cases, decay and/or cavities developed on the underlying teeth which rendered the bridges unusable and necessitated, according to Dr. Zaffer, that new bridges be made. And at full or near full price... again. We've also had crowns that came loose in as little as 8 months. And a couple of times, instead of just replacing the crown, Dr. Zaffer opted for a much more expensive three tooth bridge - which necessitated the grinding down of two good teeth. It just didn't make sense, at least in my lay opinion. And since I'm not a dentist, I asked one about it. It is the opinion of my new dentist that the teeth involved in my failed bridge were not properly prepared for the bridge in the first place, resulting in unavoidable failure. Either some decay was missed on the underlying teeth before the bridge was put on, or there was a gap somewhere between the tooth/teeth and the bridge - or both. As for crowns falling out, it's a similar reason. The underlying tooth was not properly prepared to hold the cement to keep the crown affixed. I am beyond diligent in keeping my teeth clean and the fact that this happened to all three of us is a bit much to dismiss as coincidence or patient neglect. I know people who have bridges and crowns in their mouths that are 20-30 years old that are still just fine. I find Dr. Zaffer's claim that a bridge would need to be replaced after only a couple of years (or a crown coming uncemented after only 8 months) to be dubious. Ultimately, my advice would be - if possible, insist on a written guarantee from Dr. Zaffer for expensive dental work. Otherwise, you very likely will be charged twice for the same procedure, even if its failure is not your fault. Obviously, things like trauma or an individual patient's poor dental hygiene are out of Dr. Zaffer's control, but neither of those situations apply here. Additionally, Dr. Zaffer owns equipment that not only manufactures crowns, but up to three-tooth bridges as well. He should be lowering his prices since he no longer has to pay a lab for crowns and bridges. That should be another topic that prospective patients bring up with him before agreeing to an expensive procedure. read more

Worst experience ever. No bedside manner. Crying in pain throughout dental work which then fell out a few days later. Made an appointment to go back for repair and he tried to charge me again and come back another day. I attempted to leave and he then agreed to fix his shoddy work for free. It fell out again a couple hours later eating soup. read more

I never write reviews but this time I felt compelled to save others from this man. Worst dentist ever. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. We made an appointment for an extraction - the assistant took 3 sets of x-rays, and then he determined he wasn't going to extract her teeth but wanted to take a look anyway. Walked in and didn't even introduce himself and started cleaning my daughters teeth (which took less than 5 minutes and made her bleed) - didn't even ask if that is what we wanted. On top of everything else they made me wait a half hour past my appointment time and he wasn't even with a patient, when i finally explained that I was annoyed, the receptionist stated she needed to verify my insurance before the dentist would see us. Worst practice ever, this guy shouldn't be in business. Save your money and your time. I'm calling my insurance company in the morning. read more

If you want to have the experience of going to a dentist in the 1950s, this is the place for you. He spends very little time on cleaning, oftentimes treating your mouth very roughly. On top of that, he recommended that I replace my filling with a crown. The crown has been attached three times and has fallen off all three times. Each time, he says it will be fixed. I had to drive back to his office (3 hours from where I was) for him to attach it the third time, and that was after two weeks with a hole in my tooth. Still, it fell out again, only a month and a half after it was put on. He offered to fix the problem for the fourth time, but I have gotten sick of it. Even more so, I have come to him referencing problems, including the crown fiasco, and nothing has been done. He often plays it off as if these issues will fix themselves. I honestly am not sure how a person with so much experience and a doctorate can be this incompetent and indifferent. Will not be returning and I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. My mother recently went here due to her insurance recommending her to the location. She was nervous due to not really enjoying dentist appointments. The staff at the front end were amazing and polite. The dentist was extremely rude and didn't give her the time of day. He wouldn't explain to her what was wrong and did not offer any assistance on next steps. Dentists are suppose to be compassionate and helpful. This one was not. read more

Worst dentist I have ever seen...exams for my kids and myself took all of 15 minutes each.

This dentist is more concerned with making money than dental health. He purposely and surreptitiously added services not covered by my insurance to an ordinary cleaning. During the two times I saw him, he pressured me to purchase an electric toothbrush directly from him that was generally available at many retail outlets at lower cost. When I balked at paying the extra costs without them being submitted to my insurance, I was never contacted again for the necessary followups to some serious problems. Unlike healthcare professionals with integrity, his primary concern is maximizing income. read more
