I have been contributing to The Montrose Center through United Way for many years. But I never…read morereally set foot at this place. My initial impression about this facility was very pleasant. I love the parking lot, the most valuable asset. It serves in multiple functions, from community health, support groups, mental health counselling to meeting room rentals. I gave myself a tour and went to different floors to explore this wonderful facility. I met with a helpful receptionist and friendly client. There are support groups for all ages - one for seniors called SPRY (Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years) and a youth support group called Hatch. It's nice to see other groups are conveniently located under one roof. The marquee shows the activities schedule and room location on each floor. I had an amazing experience with many volunteering opportunities at The Montrose Center. And, I will continue my efforts giving back to the community.

These classes are available in the morning, afternoon, at night and on the weekends at multiple locations throughout Houston. We MUST get the word out!!! Whether you are a beginner and speak nor understand English or your know a little, there's a welcoming class available for you. Instructors are friendly, polite and patient. Students are all ages and from all over the world. Please tell people about these classes. Also, consider volunteering! They will teach you to teach English. ¡Aprender inglés es posible! So, who's doing anything about this? LAH is! They are a non-profit organization whose mission is "to teach adults to read, write, and communicate in English so they can achieve their full potential as parents, workers, citizens, and community members." Using strictly volunteer tutors, classes are offered for free at schools, community centers, churches, corporations, and small businesses throughout the Greater Houston area. There is one wheel, but wheel throwing classes are not available. Additionally, people tend to leave the tools in the sink all the time.... or leave things out...... The community is fine. Wouldn't say there's as much expertise sharing as in other communities; this is a great mostly beginner/intermediate level community. For hand building being the main thing this place has to offer I believe it needs more items that compliment hand building such as, more foam in different shapes, Weight scales, sand paper to level the bottom of an item, drimmels, etc. a lot of items that compliment hand building are missing here...

Instead of doing month-by-month subscription, you pay for number of sessions upfront. We started our kid with a a single session to see how he liked it and then he bought more sessions in bulk (we initially bought for 10 sessions but our kid loved it so much we bought 16 more! The single session payment went towards the payment of the initial 10 sessions as well). We had a day where we weren't able to make it to our session and when we called Kids Robotic Academy they rescheduled us no problem for later that week! They get your child to build and program lego projects that they've set up. When it comes time for the end of the session, our kid will describe his project and talk about how his program works. I think not only the building and programming aspect is important learning for child at a young age but the communication skills as well! I can't recommend Kids Robotic Academy enough to others.
