I attended an informational college event at this High School. Luckily I came in on the correct side of the school parking lot area for this. I was greeted by the presenter at the front set of doors nearby and directed to the classroom we were going to be in. The room accommodated a very good crowd as it was definitely packed. As an ex student here (2023-2024) this school appears amazing on the outside but the staff is a hit or miss every time. Not worth what they're charging by any means. If you're not christian? Good luck! They have no other plan for you and you have to sit for hours at a time for mass and much more. If you appear to be disabled, some staff were extremely rude and genuinely lied about students behavior to get them in trouble for no reason and/or picked on them. One math teacher I had screamed at me and other students constantly and taught with fear rather then patience, I used to cry because she would pick on me over and over again in class because I have a sleeping disorder and mental illness so I wasn't preforming well. Do you like being discriminated against based on how you act and dress? Fear not this place will do that to you! If you wear a non normal fashion they will target you and follow you around in the mornings to make sure you don't have anything thats not allowed in dress code. The rules are made up. by the teachers half the time It says so in the student handbook. Most teachers were great but the disciplinary department is so awful. If you want your kids to cry every night because they don't think they're good enough then send them here. Send them to BL or any other school but this one, I will never forget a lot of the trauma I experienced here and I'm disgusted by this school because I paid for it. read more

This is such a beautiful high school. The faculty and staff that I have come into contact with have always been so friendly and professional. They are very accommodating to visitors. Each time I've come, I've spent most of my time in the gym area. They have two large gyms for athletics and class activities. The gyms are well lit and the lights are set to auto sensors so if you dont use one side of the gym, the lights on that side go out. This seems to be a really great school. If you have to come for an athletic event you're definitely coming to one of the better schools facility wise. read more

Don't waste your money. The school is very clean and presentable, however, don't be fooled by appearances. The teaching methods are outdated. They excuse substandard teaching practices by saying the curriculum is vigorous. Some of the teachers are excellent, but others are poorly trained and abusive to students. Don't trust your precious child to this school. It is a discredit to the Catholic Church. read more

We had one son graduate in 2020 and our daughter is finishing her sophomore year in 2021. We are leaving because the school's theology is not Catholic but "woke" social justice nonsense. We were pretty involved parents, Our daughter plays sports and is a straight A student, our son was captain of the CC team and very active in clubs at the school. Some of the teachers are quite good, the theology department is uniformly awful. The school is presenting a shallow version of Catholicism/Christianity so if you want your kids inoculated against a relationship with God then this is the place to send them. I don't think a single one of my son's JPII friends still attend church. read more

Having been in the Prosper schools k-8 we are enormously happy that our daughter attends JP2. Yes, the tuition is expensive. Yes, it's a bit further from our home. However the attention our daughter gets is completely worth it. Pay now or pay later! It's the old public vs private scenario. JP2 is not for every student. But if you are spending money on tutors and your child is being left in the dust of public schools then this might be the spot for you. The teachers and administrators know every student by name and require basic standards of their students like being polite, looking at a person when speaking, being respectful of others, doing your homework and learning not only to be a good student but how to be a good person too!! ....the kind of stuff you do NOT get at public schools. Education and etiquette ....grooming the students for college and communicating like a human. Good stuff and we think it's worth every dime. Even if your daughter doesn't go to college she will have an excellent education to begin her adulthood with!! read more

JPII is an exceptional high school. Teachers and administration are attentive, care about their students and want them to succeed. Whether they are regular or AP classes, there are lots of choices offered. We are extremely happy with this school, love the camaraderie amongst the students and appreciate the continued outreach to the community. Below average school. Sports are eh, academics are ok, but the student body feels like a public school. Lots of druggies, little enforcement. If you want to go to a catholic school, I'd look to Jesuit or Cistercian before JP2, depending on your desired academic rigor. BL is not as good but better. Girls should look to Ursuline or BL, but the boys at BL are undesirable. read more

This is a fantastic high school. I have 2 sons that attend JPII and are doing great and being challenged. They are so advanced in comparison to their friends who attend other schools. We are searching for colleges at this point and JPII faculty is amazing. Mr. Solama is such a resource and has so much to offer these kids. When we visit colleges they are so impressed with the curricullm at JPII. I would highly recommend this High School! read more

Our daughter transferred to JP11 from Ursuline after her freshman year and has thrived at JP11. She had a 4.0 at Ursuline but she literally hated everyday she was there. She is self motivated and pushes herself almost to a fault. She would become very discouraged when the teachers at Ursuline wouldn't respond to her emails when she had questions or needed help. When it came time to register for her Sophomore year, we told her that we were going to transfer her to JP11. She was very sad to leave her friends and was even angry with us. That was three years ago. and our daughter couldn't be happier now. She has thanked her father and I on many occasions for making her transfer to JP11. She gets support from all of her teachers and she has thrived in and out of the classroom. We would strongly recommend JP11 and feel it has prepared our daughter for college and well into her future! read more

I transferred to this school from outside of the DFW area, so I had no idea what the school was like aside from what I learned online and in my campus visit. Well, it turned out to be a complete waste of time and money, as the curriculum is sub-par, the teachers are unimpressive, and the student body is made up of incompetent, superficial slackers. The culture one will find at the so-called "college preparatory" school is one in which excellence and hard work is discouraged and mediocrity is applauded. Additionally, the staff places much more of an emphasis on Catholicism than on academics, which, while acceptable in K-8 religious schools, is unthinkable in any true college-prep environment. I realized JPII wouldn't be quite as challenging as my previous school, which is a competitive and well-respected academy, but I was convinced that it would be fine because I would be able to more easily reach the top of my class and take more advanced classes to amp up my transcript for college applications, while still earning higher marks than I would have at a more competitive school. The classes turned out to be way worse than I expected; if I EVER had homework, it was only busywork, which was a complete waste of my time and contributed in no way to my education. Also, I felt that it would be easier to make friends as a new student in the seemingly friendly community at JPII, as opposed to one at, say, Ursuline Academy, where the girls have a reputation for being catty and clique-ish. Let me tell you- I was wrong! Everyone in the school is fake and self-consumed, and students simply do NOT speak to anyone outside of their cliques. And even though I earned much higher grades this year (for MUCH less effort) and in supposedly harder classes than before, they were nowhere near worth the sacrifice I made in being immersed in such an unimpressive and "slacker" culture. Take my advice- either save your money for college (which, by the way, JPII does nothing to prepare you for or even help you get a leg up on admissions into- the majority of graduates go on to the University of Arkansas) and take AP classes in public schools, or make the investment in a school with a better reputation among colleges and a truly rigorous curriculum, such as Ursuline or Jesuit, and actually get something out of your four years in high school. You should also know that if you plan on attending JPII and transferring to one of these other options if you don't like it, you will NOT get any refund on your tuition at all, even if you decide to transfer before the school year even starts. This is because the administration has noticed how many students transfer out, and they will make no money if students could leave with any of their money back. Oh, and one more thing: I realize another important factor in choosing a high school for most families is location, and being in Plano gives JPII a huge advantage for many people in this respect. Personally, I live 5 minutes away, which ended up being the deciding factor between the school and Ursuline, which is 30 minutes away not counting rush-hour traffic. But parents, the time you save in commuting time is nowhere near worth the sacrifices you will make in choosing this school. If you truly care about your child's education, do NOT send them to this waste of a school. read more

Not a good school. The teachers are inexperienced and the administration will say anything to get you to pay the full tuition in advance. This school has been around long enough to improve on so many levels and they haven't. Shame. I would have liked all of my kids to attend but after my oldest went there we knew this would not happen. read more

My two children graduated from JPII High School and had a wonderful experience. They were very well prepared for college both intellectually and emotionally. They have now graduated from college, they are gainfully employed and are still very connected to their friends from JPII. read more

Transferring in from out of state I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. I can happily say that I have made many new friends and the teachers have been wonderful in helping me become acclimated to such a rigorous academic environment. If you are thinking of sending your kids here, I would dig really deep and make sure you are prepared to let your kids go to a school that's sub par. There are so many other schools that are better. The exterior of the school and the cafeteria are fantastic and almost have to be because once you get to what's going inside the classrooms, you will be horrified. The curriculum is below the level of the Plano ISD curriculum (which is free). The teachers are inexperienced (many are first year educators) who do not have that certain level of expertise needed to teach teenagers (parents with teens know what I mean), let alone have the professionalism to teach in a classroom environment with all of the challenges required of a religious college prep school. So, what is happening is they have lowered the bar. I found that the teachers were not really accessible for me as a parent and my two kids were having a hard time trying to meet with their teachers before and after school for questions, tutoring, etc. It's like it is an average (but overly-expensive) school pretending to be a college prep school. If you just want to pretend to go to a college prep school and your child's education really doesn't matter, then this might be the place. For parents like me who wanted my kids to have the great, religious education, I recommend looking to the schools that have built solid reputations and maintained them. JPII is not ready for prime-time and needs to fix a lot of issues and grow some more. I just don't want them to experiment with these changes with my kids and on my dime. read more
