My visit to Slater's Menswear Aberdeen to buy a suit was very disappointing compared to many previous experiences of shopping there. Firstly it is my perception that the manager thinks he's too important to be helpful (been served on previous occasions by this gentleman and he could not have been more helpful). He said, "I will get one of my assistants to help you"... a couple of minutes later an assistant came over and said "try this on for size"... and it was so tight I could not get it off... he did not provide any assistance for me to take the jacket off and I had to "shake" until it slipped down off my shoulders. The next jacket he asked me to try on and he said "that fits perfectly" and I said, "are you sure, I can't move my arms?" I could not have been more polite and decided to leave the suit as I could not cope with the lack of service. I was ready to spend a substantial amount of money but decided to take my custom elsewhere. I did purchase trousers that were £60 and the cashier had a face like thunder and "threw" the trousers in a bag like an old rag. I will not be going back there.

They do clothing for most sizes and have sections for tall and petite, along with a maternity section and shoes. I must say though the clothing is rather expensive for what you get, you'd expect it for a better brand. I've found the jeans can be funny sizes so try it on is a must before you leave, which means squeezing into the rather small changing rooms. The shop is definately too small and not my type.

In particular they are good in ear cuffs and embellished/sequin dresses but one must remember, MS is a compromise between price and quality and such stuff doesn't last long, this kind of dresses are made mainly to wear once/to look at or one has to be very careful once wearing them. I think this is a good shop when you want something decent/different looking for OK price. You can find some steals there, but you also have to watch out because some items can have the quality at the level of Primark. There is also second MS within Outlet close to Union Square, where you can find a little different range of products. Or you can buy online and have it delivered to the store, which I use quite often. There are sometimes slaw vouchers online, but then again sometimes you will find even better deals in store }:)

Her prices are fair and she has so much knowledge about the clothes and is also always there for a chat. She remembers her customers and what they like and even though I'm a student, I have bought a lot of things from her as its all amazing quality and there's something special there for everyone.

And let me be the first to say it: if being in the closet was this good, you'd never be able to get me out of it!! Not only does this place look amazing inside, it's totally stuffed to the gunwales with all kinds of vintage treasures. There's a great range of 50s - 80s shirts, skirts, lingerie and dresses as well as a great selection of jewellery, accessories, shoes, bags, hats and small suitcases to boot. I love that there's lots of lovely home wear sprinkled around the shop - literally everything you see is available for sale which is incredible because often you'll find a lot of amazing stuff in these kinds of shops which are for display purposes only. I know this for fact because I bought a vintage hat box from here which I've been after for the past year but it's been impossible to talk anyone into selling before because they look so great on show! The shop is independent and run by a really lovely woman who sources all the pieces herself, meaning there's no bulk-bought junk to wade through and it's all hand steamed and in great condition. At the moment she's just updated the stock to summer wear and she's got a cheeky little sale rail for those looking to bag a bargain. It's mid priced, but there is defo some beautiful items to invest in. Failing that there's a few wonderful pieces available to rent for occasions so every girl gets the chance to be Cinderella for just one night, which is perfect for those who feel like taking the plunge into the world of vintage will leave then looking like a pumpkin after midnight ;)
