The only downside I have notice with some products, the quality went a bit down for the price it costs. You would expect a table for almost £1000 to be at least stable and from a good solid material.. Otherwise, I still love going there time to time even just to have a look and their catalogs are full of inspiration :) Regarding the staff, they are always helpful, polite and not pushy - and that's one of the reasons why I prefer to go there rather than other department stores where you can meet unnecessarily too many employees trying to engage conversation with you. Wallpaper was £10 per roll cheaper than in John Lewis and service was great. Shop is in a great location by the harbour so well worth a visit - giftware is really nice too if you are looking for items for the home or as a gift.

We needed to rent formal wear for a wedding and the woman that assisted us was very knowledgeable and efficient. As a newbie, I had to rent quite a few things: jacket, sporran, sgian dubh, footwear and a belt. Then I had to purchase a proper shirt and the required kilt socks. Which is good because who wants to rent socks. Despite the fact that McCalls was extremely busy, they assembled the kilts for our group in an hour and sent us on our way. This helped the group out and saved us the trouble of coming back to Aberdeen (a 1 hour drive) to pick up our kilts. All in all, quite happy with the experience and the kilt itself.
