Nice tidy shop where you can get a good range of clothes for your better half. Prices are very reasonable and staff are friendly and helpful, which is great if you need advice if trying to choose a gift for a teenager or older gentleman. read more

My visit to Slater's Menswear Aberdeen to buy a suit was very disappointing compared to many previous experiences of shopping there. Firstly it is my perception that the manager thinks he's too important to be helpful (been served on previous occasions by this gentleman and he could not have been more helpful). He said, "I will get one of my assistants to help you"... a couple of minutes later an assistant came over and said "try this on for size"... and it was so tight I could not get it off... he did not provide any assistance for me to take the jacket off and I had to "shake" until it slipped down off my shoulders. The next jacket he asked me to try on and he said "that fits perfectly" and I said, "are you sure, I can't move my arms?" I could not have been more polite and decided to leave the suit as I could not cope with the lack of service. I was ready to spend a substantial amount of money but decided to take my custom elsewhere. I did purchase trousers that were £60 and the cashier had a face like thunder and "threw" the trousers in a bag like an old rag. I will not be going back there.

The owner is picking quite interesting stuff you can't find on high street shops with usually good fit. And what doesn't fit, it can usually be fixed there as well My boyfriend just gave up going anywhere else and he is always happy with the service and the quality of clothes he gets there. But be prepared to pay for that! From my girly perspective, I would say, be aware though that the people there do want to sell - so have a critical eye a bit so you don't find yourself with overly tight jeans .. Although... I'm sure you could return them invade you would find your later it's not really you

We needed to rent formal wear for a wedding and the woman that assisted us was very knowledgeable and efficient. As a newbie, I had to rent quite a few things: jacket, sporran, sgian dubh, footwear and a belt. Then I had to purchase a proper shirt and the required kilt socks. Which is good because who wants to rent socks. Despite the fact that McCalls was extremely busy, they assembled the kilts for our group in an hour and sent us on our way. This helped the group out and saved us the trouble of coming back to Aberdeen (a 1 hour drive) to pick up our kilts. All in all, quite happy with the experience and the kilt itself.
