We needed to rent formal wear for a wedding and the woman that assisted us was very knowledgeable and efficient. As a newbie, I had to rent quite a few things: jacket, sporran, sgian dubh, footwear and a belt. Then I had to purchase a proper shirt and the required kilt socks. Which is good because who wants to rent socks. Despite the fact that McCalls was extremely busy, they assembled the kilts for our group in an hour and sent us on our way. This helped the group out and saved us the trouble of coming back to Aberdeen (a 1 hour drive) to pick up our kilts. All in all, quite happy with the experience and the kilt itself.

Wallpaper was £10 per roll cheaper than in John Lewis and service was great. Shop is in a great location by the harbour so well worth a visit - giftware is really nice too if you are looking for items for the home or as a gift.

Not only did we get what we were looking for, but the shoes were fitted with a smile by the staff and they really couldn't have been more helpful. This is situated just up from the main shopping centre but until someone told us to try there i had never heard about it. The outside of the shop is painted black and i must say it's not really noticable. They do seem to sell a variety of shoes though but i can't say i paid that much attention. Word of mouth should definately get this one going.

They are open later than any other pharmacy that i know of in the area and from what i've experienced, they will always help you. They do tend you try and palm you off with the tesco products rather than brand but i've also found these to be just as good, just a quarter of the price. There are a number of decent Victorian paintings and a good clutch of French Impressionists including work by Bonnard, Renoir and Tolouse-Lautrec. There is a good collection of drawings on display too, and some exquisite glassware. The building is beautiful and offers access to the handsome Cowdray Hall, and war memorial.
