My wife did that given this is our first child. The doctor got her PDF and replied back that she is no longer a "good match." No phone calls, no explanations, just unprofessionalism. Highly don't recommend. Now the stress this is creating is ridiculous. All because of this doctor.

The 1st time I went to the office, I was already given very short responses on when my next appt was and keep in mind they make appt without asking the patient they are scheduling for. Only to get you in the books and to have you leave because they couldn't care less about the patients schedule. Everyone has to work and can't just take off anytime to do doctors appts and without asking first is already unprofessional. Next not only did they mess up my name completely on my paper work to the labs, EVEN THOUGH I GAVE THEM MY ID TO SCAN IN WITH MY INS CARD. LIKE HOW? When I called to correct their mistake, they weren't even apologetic about it and as if it's my job to make sure they can do their jobs right. Today, my appt was only suppose to be checking on 1 thing, but they merged my next appt with this appt without even letting me know in advance. Not only did they not communicate anything, but they couldn't care less that I was in a rush since I didn't know in advance. Then going to make the my procedure appt was even worse. I walked to to SUMMER, greeting her, she then without a greeting said, "you can have a seat." No explanation as to why and just kept tapping away and calling the surgery center for me without even asking me when I can TAKE OFF to do a procedure. When I OVERHEARD my name on the phone is when I realized she was scheduling my procedure without even asking me. So I politely waited til she was off the phone to let her know since she couldn't even address me in the beginning. When I told her I couldn't make it, she then LOUDLY sighed and started slamming stuff around and clacking buttons as if it's my fault to INCONVENIENCE her, even though she literally just could've done her fucking job and just asked me. She then pulled down her mask to talk to me about how it's just how it is to schedule and when I wanted to schedule then.I told her I wanted to schedule later due to my work schedule and she was like "when then did you want to schedule" RUDELY. When I told her June, before I could tell her when in June, she went and scheduled and gave me a card to have me leave. When I looked at the card it was for an appt on Wednesday when my scheduled procedure was Friday. I then went inside to let them know I can't make Wednesday due to work and they said well that's how it works for pre-op. Wouldn't it have been nice to be told these things from the person scheduling me? It would definitely be since I DONT WORK THERE NOR KNOW THEIR PROCEDURES. I have been to several doctors offices growing up here, but never have I ever been to a more unprofessional and rude office staff. I have never left a doctors office in tears from being given such a rude and unprofessional attitude. It's an OBGYN OFFICE, shouldn't we feel safe and taken cared of instead of just another "cash cow " for this office to use and schedule whenever they like without consideration for any patients work and life schedules? I would NEVER recommend this office to anybody if they like to be happy. I would rather fly to another island than to get care from them again. I don't think anyone should ever be treated like that and if SUMMER continues to work there, then it shows what their office is really about. I was a repeat mother, with both severe orthopedic and cardiac issues so I was high-high risk. I chose him after interviewing 4 other OBs on the island (in Kona, Waimea and Hilo) because he demonstrated pure, raw skill. His skill comes from experience, not from hubris. His appointments are quick, to-the-point, and he wastes no time. He often took me in early. His bedside manner is straightforward and direct, his advice and instructions are no-nonsense. I get it that some folks won't appreciate that. But I did. Every time I had a question, he would take as much time as needed to answer it fully. We would sit in his office as long as it would take. I had a cesarian. He listened to my concerns carefully and we made the decision on how early to do the procedure together. It was just right, not too early, and not too late. The baby was 8' 10oz. The procedure itself, despite my complications, and my worry, went smoothly. From the time they wheeled me in to wheeling me out was 45 minutes. The baby came out quickly, and was screaming from the very first breath. Dr. Nitta is fast and efficient. Really, I could not have asked for better. Sure there are folks who prefer to go to Honolulu and be treated in the big medical centers, but I didn't want that. I wanted to be home, with my family, and I needed someone skilled enough to manage my case. Dr. Nitta is in my view, the best, most confident, and experienced OB on the island. If you want skill - he's your man. If you want warm hugs and a sunny disposition, try the women's center in Kona.

The other thing that helped during my pregnancy was how during one of my appointments I had an issue with high blood pressure and htye got me a couple bottles of water and some fruit to help me feel better.

She found the root cause of the numerous physical issues that I had been battling for over 12 years. One of the many things that sets her apart from most medical doctors is her compassion. She takes her time and listens. She doesn't just reach for the prescription pad after spending less than 5 minutes with you. I called Dr. Lee's office yesterday (9/27/2017) afternoon, after receiving my referral to set-up an appointment and spoke to Cheryl. She, rather condescendingly, stated that the referral should be faxed to her by my doctor rather than calling myself. I accepted this explanation and put a call in to my PCP this morning and they confirmed that a referral was faxed over to Dr. Lee's office yesterday morning (by approximately 9:15 am), I then asked if she could call and verify that they (Dr. Lee's office) had received the fax, etc. she stated she would do so. This afternoon at approximately 2:49 pm, I called my PCP to find out if she was able to reach Dr. Lee's office and she stated that no one answered the phone but she left a message AND faxed over another copy of the referral form. I immediately called Dr. Lee's office and Cheryl answered the phone, I explained that I called yesterday to try and set-up an appointment to see Dr. Lee and needed my PCP to fax over a referral and Cheryl stated, "Oh, yes, I remember talking to you yesterday." I then stated that my PCP did fax over a copy of the referral yesterday morning AND that she faxed over another copy today AND that she called and left a message today. Cheryl's condescending reply was, "oh, she did, did she? Well, let me check. Hold." It was obvious that Cheryl DID NOT check her messages NOR did she check her fax machine since the previous day! Whe. She returned to the phone, she then placed me on hold again. When she returned to the phone, she then asked me to verify my information and advised me that the first availability they had was November 1st at 2pm. I asked her if there were other appointment times available as I prefer morning appointments because I am driving all the way from Waimea and she replied in a condescending manner with, "well, we have patients that come from Ocean View, Pahala, etc." And, finally being fed up with her negative attitude, I abruptly replied back with "I don't care about your other patients, I care only about ME!" Cut me off and in a rude and rather abrupt condescending manner stated, "let's see . . . you are coming to see Dr. Lee about varicose veins, you know you have a choice to see another doctor!" I then stated that my PCP is recommending Dr. Lee and Cheryl repeated what she said earlier, "you have a choice to see another doctor, you do not have to come here to Dr. Lee's," as if she did not want me as a patient of Dr. Lee! I am absolutely stunned and appalled at Cheryl's rude, condescending tone and her overall unprofessional demeanor! If Dr. Lee losses me as a potential patient, Cheryl with whom I would hold responsible!

She does have a stoic demeanor that may come off as rude, but I don't believe she does this intentionally. And I also believe this is the reason why she may rub people the wrong way. If you prefer the kind of physician who is mushy and holds your hand with everything, Dr. Collins is not for you. Physicians are people too, and their personalities may reflect in their work. In my experiences with Dr. Collins, she was professional and did her job effectively. Ultimately, that's what I look for in a physician: someone who knows what they're doing. Each person has different needs, and some physicians just aren't a good fit. For me, Dr. Collins was a good fit. I should note that I do have a career in medicine, and so when I visit Dr. Collins I know what to ask and what to expect. I ask specific questions and I often don't need explanation on medical treatments or lab work. We have an understanding of each other and I think that's why she is a good fit for me. In the 5+ years that I've known her, she has been friendly and accommodating. She guided me through a healthy pregnancy and successfully delivered my healthy baby boy. The office is clean and new. Location is convenient because the diagnostic lab is right next door if you need to do lab work. Also, Sherry Louise at the front desk is the nicest person you'll meet!

Yes, sometimes he is late.....but maybe that was the time my sister had an emergency and needed him to save her life!!!
