Dr. Ebesugawa is an excellent physician. He was recommended by my OB on Oahu, especially with my c-section history. I felt comfortable with him and his care.
However, the front office staff was incredibly unprofessional and insensitive. I started seeing Dr. Ebesugawa at 5 weeks pregnant and he immediately referred me to a perinatologist. However the office staff "could not find it in my chart" and could not confirm it with the dr. For 6 weeks it went on like this. I would call to follow up, they would promise to confirm with the dr and call back, but I never got any calls from them. Then I got a call from the perinatologist confirming my appointment in 2 days on a different island. An appointment I was not aware of and which cost me $350 to fly to because it was last minute. This was a complete mess up on the front office staff's behalf, but I got no apology just excuses blaming it on paperwork.
Then when I asked for my chart to switch doctors, I was promised a copy of my chart in a week's time. They said they would call when it was ready. Of course I got no call. When I arrived at the office I was informed they hadn't gotten around to copying them and asked if I could wait.
This on top of waiting up to 2 hours at each appointment and being sent away from 1 appointment because the doctor was running behind and couldn't get to me.
Dr. Ebesugawa is good at what he does and I feel like the office staff takes advantage of that fact (and that there are limited good OBs on the island) and treats patients as if they are expendable.
Overall, unless you've got a lot of time and patience and don't need a c-section, I'd choose a different practice. read more
