I was not given any help for my arthritis in both my knees. Was told to lose weight and when I said I was going to try semigludties he said you going die from kidney failure; I am an active 50 year old and was told he refuses to do a knee replacement because I messed up my knees and will only continue to do so to his replacements. I will never return to such horrible treatment. He wouldn't even give me cortisol or any kind of referral for help. read more

We were referred to Dr. Peter Matsuura's Orthopedic practice by our PCP. Naturally, my wife was nervous about having surgery on her shoulder. From start to finish, Dr. Matsuura showed patience in explaining the procedure as well as what possible outcomes we could expect. The surgery went better than expected as Dr. Matsuura was able to reattach what was a severely torn rotator cuff. After the surgery Dr. Peter set up several visits to gauge the healing process and to suggest different therapy stretches. Dr. Matsuura and his staff are not only friendly but compassionate and skilled at what they do. Despite the severity of the proceedure, it was a pleasant experience. I had the best experience with Dr. Matsuura and his staff. Seema, the X-ray technician was extremely kind and friendly, as was Kerry, the physician's assistant. I felt like everyone listened to me, answered my questions, and most importantly treated me like an intelligent human being with a sense of humor! I was very nervous about my visit, not only because I just moved to the island two months ago and found Dr. Matsuura on Google (you never can tell if the reviews are accurate or not!), but because I was certain I needed knee surgery again. Fortunately, Dr. Matsuura assured me I didn't need surgery, but anti-inflammatories and PT! What kind of surgeon doesn't want to perform surgery!? The best kind. I went in with severe pain In my left knee!! The staff was very caring and professional, from reception to x-ray. Dr Matsuura was nothing short of amazing!! He evaluated my history and X-rays and gave me a cortisone shot. I am not a good patient when it comes to shots, but he was fast and I didn't even know when he was finished. So my wife went here for her knee injury from the military and she told him she got injured early on her military career and he basically told her she didn't do anything and ask how she got hurt if she didn't do anything. That was so insulting. He didn't help at all. Showed leg raises and how to stretch ham strings and walked out the room. SO RUDE read more

Dr. Matsuura and his staff are very professional and knowledgeable of all aspects of Orthopaedics. My knee problem was bothering me enough to slow down my daily exercise. He took an X-ray and immediately diagnosed the problem. Gave me a shot of cortisone and that hurt like hell but I am the type of person of no pain, no gain!!! Ha Ha! Shot hurt into the night but he did prescribe some pain medication. Next day I was in top shape and getting better everyday!! Thanks Doc and Staff for a job well done!!! Dr. Matsuura basically scolded my wife for being a wimp and told her to get off the crutches and start stretching her leg. He failed to read the CT correctly and flat out told us an MRI is a waste of money. Turns out she suffered a complete posterior hamstring tendon avulsion. Surgery was performed on the mainland. Our experience with Dr. Matsuura was terrible. read more

I don't know how this man keeps his license. I was referred to him for a significant hamstring injury. Not only did he fail to give me a proper physical exam, he seriously couldn't read the CT scan. He keep scrolling the computer screen saying, "what are they talking about? I don't see any inflammation." He then proceeded to show me the stretches I should be doing (turns out to be the worst thing to do with this injury before repair). It concerns me that this man treats people everyday. I wonder how many misdiagnosed patients suffer from his incompetence? read more
