My man comes here to get a haircut and beard maintenance every time we come down to SoCal. We have heard so many good things about this place, and even celebrities have come here multiple times to get haircuts as well. The barbers are incredibly friendly in a very laid back environment. Location is decent, located in a shopping center next to Albertsons and other stores and food joints. Prices are reasonable, more worth it and cheaper than getting one at Great Clips next door. It's about $15, but don't forget about the tips! This is my man's favorite barber shop in both Nevada and California. They do a complimentary hot cream neck shave after every haircut! Went in for a simple side fade on Saturday. The other guy, not Carlos, took me. He was in such a rush he snagged my earring. I told him it was freshly pierced and to be careful. He continued to rush and snagged it again. When I got home my piercing was red and inflamed and bleeding. Hair was whatever, simple stuff. But if I tell you to be careful of a piercing how are you going to snag it multiple times.... I've gone here multiple times. Carlos is great. This other guy, is not. read more

So I normally don't leave reviews but this time I just had to. Been coming to this shop for a while now. It's good when you stick with the barbers who actually know how to cut hair. The female barber (not the new one) cannot cut hair for the life of her. She's screwed up simple cuts so many times. The guy barbers are all pretty good. My real issue has been the way they conduct business recently. Cuts used to be $16. Cool. Every time I'm there I've seen everyone (including myself) pull out a $20 bill to pay. $4 tip to a barber is solid. Now cuts are $18. Total bs to the employees. People are still going to come in to pay with a $20 bill which now means the barbers will only get a $2 tip but the owner will make more. Nice way to treat your employees. Most people already dont carry cash (its cash only) and it's not like you can pull out $22 from the atms next door. What a tool move. Also, I called to make sure they were open and some apathetic rude kid answered. Apparently it's the owners kid, shocker, who sat around and did nothing while I was there for my cut (about 45 minutes with the wait) even though he was supposed to be cleaning and sanitizing everything between customers. My family and I will be taking our business elsewhere from now on. read more

I called and said that it was not busy. I went for a haircut. She didn't give me what I wanted and even showed a picture of how I wanted it done. I even asked for a hot shave as I was going to a funeral the next day. She said no. It's a service that is offered. There was no one else in the shop and her next appointment was not for another hour. I will not be going back to there again. read more

Do not get your hair cut by the Asian guy here! Was getting a haircut for an important dinner the next night, knew a couple people who had been there and got decent hair cuts so I trusted that I would too. Got the quickest haircut I've ever gotten, pretty sure he used an old used razor to shave my neck. Handed me the mirror to inspect it and it was horrible, crooked edge up, random long hairs, and a fade with no fade. Asked him if he could try to blend it more, didn't trust him to fix the edge up in fear that my hairline would end up giving me a five head. After he "fixed" it I ended up going home and shaving my head. It seems that there are some good barbers in this shop so I feel bad leaving a poor review, but why would you allow such a horrible barber work in your shop? read more

I needed a haircut and this place was nearby and open. I get there, walk in. The nice lady tells me to have a seat. I ask if she can do military cuts - I need a medium fade. She says yes. Some time later and some nice conversation out of the way, she's done. It's amazing No seriously. It's amazing. I looked amazing. She took her time and was precise with the cuts. It was like watching someone paint...except I wasn't wearing my glasses so I couldn't see. Regardless, if I'm ever in that area and need a haircut, THIS is where I will go. read more

I wish I had the same experience that these other reviewers did. I went here for a shave and to true up my goatee and waited forever to get a chair. There was a few people before me and they all were waiting for one particular guy and I took the first available. The guy that gave me a shave talked way too much and wasn't concentrating on what he was doing. Everything was going well until he pulled out the straight razor for the shave and cut my face. I felt when it happened and said "You just cut me". He said he didn't and then once then blood started flowing said "oops, guess I did". He started cleaning the blood and then worked on trying to get it to stop bleeding. when he finished up the shave he didn't charge me ( probably since I gave so much blood). I'm on the fence if I will give them a second chance or not. I hate getting cut and paying to bleed just doesn't sit well with me either. read more

I have learned to take whoever is available because otherwise you can end up being here a very very long time. I have only had one bad haircut in probably 15 years. Went to this place for this first time and was impressed! I'm really picky about haircuts for obvious reasons so there's certain risk in going to a barber for the first time. I went to John Jacobs on a Saturday afternoon and got seated for a haircut within 10 minutes. I had my hair cut by Anthony and he was awesome! Told him what I wanted, .5" fade to a 2" on the sides, scissor cut on top, hard-line part, rounded in the back and comb-over style. He meticulously executed this haircut perfectly! I showed him a picture of what I wanted in the beginning and at the end the cut he gave me looked just like the picture! Awesome! I will be coming back to this place for sure. Fast and friendly place. Haircut is only $15 and it comes with a free hot lather neck shave. I like this place more than the rest of the barber shops in my area because they don't charge for every little thing. It's one flat price for any haircut besides a beard shave/trim is extra. As Simon Y. stated in one of the previous reviews in 2016-2017 , one of the barbers makes racist and bigoted comments on numerous occasions. His name is Carlos, he works in the first chair on the right side of the shop. He will discreetly make racist and stereotypical comments toward Africans and middle Easterns (like myself) and it becomes a very uncomfortable experience. Most people do not seem to mind this as they come for a quick cut and leave, but I had Carlos cut my hair once and the comments he makes are just absolutely unacceptable. One on occasion, he refused to give me a haircut after waiting almost an hour and took another person who just walked in. It's 2018 and we still have people like Carlos having their mentality in the 1900s with racist comments. I am surprised that no one has confronted him about this matter, especially the owner of the shop who is letting such a person rent out a booth in his place. This used to be my spot as I would come almost every Monday for a haircut. But I would never come here again. If you still insist on coming here for a cut, I would recommend Herman. He is on the left side, first chair. He cuts perfectly and is always very respectful. But because of Carlos and his actions I have to give this place 1 star. read more

It's too bad when a single person can ruin an otherwise pleasant experience. I have been coming to this place for the past 6 years and have enjoyed many quality haircuts, however on several occasions I have been singled out by one barber as he makes racists comments. The comments are not directed at me but he seems to think that I agree with his views. First of all you don't know me. It's very uncomfortable for me to hear disparaging remarks about another human being based on the color of their skin. To ask me if I agree with you? My answer was "No". Done. The barber cutting my hair even seemed to be uncomfortable. Needless to say I will be finding another shop to frequent. read more

I've been coming to this Barber shop around five years. And I was just browsing this establishment and reading all the comments that were left. And read the one in regards to a upset customer didn't really care for the barber (s) comments. I believe everyone has a right to freedom of speech in public or private. And it was express on his comment. If the patron 'customer had a problem you should of voice your own opinion to that barber. But if not then you should go to a hair salon were the talk is more to your pace. Barber shops are for Men to express thereselve. Don't be so sensitive. I got my haircut there for many years - a buzz cut - they were fine. They did a good job, they few clean and professional. Recently, I decided to let my hair grow and to get a "regular" cut. I have been twice - the first time was not a good cut, but I let it grow out and went back to give them another try. The last one was literally the worst haircut of my life. Both my sons have been going to John Jacobs since it opened, back in 1999, when we lived in Orangecrest. Now that they are adult men they make the drive to get their hair cuts.
