When I first saw John, I was living a pretty miserable existence. My life was full of depression, anger, and resentment. He was suggested by a social worker who couldn't help me but thought John could help. From the moment I met him, it's been a pleasure. The atmosphere of his office is very warm and welcoming. Located on private property so you do not have to worry about losing any privacy. John is an excellent listener and shows he cares about everyone who takes the time to see him. He's read everything I've asked him to read or look up. He is always prepared for the next session. I've asked him to read a few things and asked for his opinion on them and he's done so each time. He also does his research and is prepares for each session as is evident from how much material he's given me to help me on my road to recovery and self-enlightenment. He's easy to talk and that is was extremely important. I needed to just speak and know I'm not being judged. And that's exactly what I received. A judgement free zone where I can absolutely speak my mind. I've seen him about 10 times and each session is different but the road to recovery and enlightenment is self-paced and all depends on how much effort you put into it. One of the most important and best decisions of my life was to accept John Geremia as my personal therapist. When we met many years ago in his Greenbelt office, I was in the midst of a deep depression and spent most of the time during my early sessions in tears. John helped me push through all of that and subsequently opened the world to me. He encouraged me to get outside of myself by finding and focusing on an interest or hobby. And he laughed with a mixture of shock and delight when I told him what outside interest I had chosen to explore. As time went on, he continued to encourage and support me in my endeavors. John has a phenomenal sense of humor. Since I'm pretty much a sarcastic cynic with a fairly sharp tongue, we spent a lot of time laughing together during my sessions. But he always kept me focused and never stopped encouraging me and cheering for me. As a therapist, I cannot recommend John highly enough, especially to those engaged in alternative lifestyles. He is safe, sane, discreet and effective. He helped direct me down the path to my current happiness and I will never be able to thank him enough. My husband and I've been seeing John for marriage counseling for several months now. We've found John to be a very warm, patient and caring therapist. He calls things like he sees them, but always does so in a positive manner, careful not to make my husband or I feel guilty or solely responsible for the issues of our marriage. Although my husband and I've made great strides, we can't fathom giving up our weekly counseling sessions anytime soon. Our weekly sessions help keep the lines of communication open and helps us deal with issues as they arise before they become unmanageable. I've been seeing John for a little while and he has become a life coach for me. He always offers a different perspective in an honest and caring way. He's honest, light hearted, accepting, open, direct, and most importantly he knows me and works around my personality. He has an amazing memory. He remembers facts from the past and helps me incorporate them into lessons to help me live stress free. I highly recommend him without any hesitation! As far as calling him and him returning your calls- I usually get an answering machine during the day b/c he's in sessions with patients. I would expect him not to pick up the phone when he's in a session. But he's ALWAYS called me back within 2 hours and accommodated my needs. read more
