I was just informed by the office person that my business was no longer wanted at Foleys Garage. This after going to them off and on for over 10 years. It all stemmed from a previous phone call when I tried to make an appointment only to find that they were booked out for several weeks. I mentioned in passing that I had happened to drive by the shop that day and they didn't look that busy. The office person took this to mean that I was calling her a liar, which I wasn't. I was just musing about the situation. Anyway when I called today she recognized me and said that I had given her a "hard time" the last time we spoke and that I should find someone else to work on my car. I tried to apologize for the misunderstanding and she was having none of it. I feel that since the passing of the elder Mr. Foley things have gone downhill in the office. I know Mr. Foley senior would never have tolerated this behavior from his office person. He always treated everyone with courtesy and respect. It's too bad that this person thinks that she can afford to lord it over the customers. I suspect that she will run the business into the ground before long. read more

I've lived in Altamont for 10 years and these guys have spoiled me. A good mechanic is hard to find, and to find a good mechanic that is trustworthy, detail oriented (clean), and priced competitively ... these guys are gold. Both John (Dad) and Sean (Son) are the nicest guys you'll meet in the industry... and their crew is top notch as well. Not a whole lot of turnover in the last ten years too ... that says a bunch. If you are within 25mi of these guys, and you have any hesitation about your mechanic - do yourself a favor and give these guys a shot. read more

You have completely lost me as a customer and will let others know of my experience and will not recommend to anyone. First off, customer service for starters, I get you make an appt but you should be able to wait in the reception area, for however long, even if it is all day for the work to be completed.It is completely ridicious to say you have to drop it and cant wait for your car at a scheduled appt. Told it throws their schedule off , how if I am making an appt you should be working on my carr. It's my car for god sake. I am the customer that keeps you in business. I will not be coming back ever and lost me a good customer. I use to come there for decades. It is your father who made that business. John, always treated his customers with respect. He took the time to make small talk even. Customers are what make a business and if you act like your doing your customers a favor, it is time for the customers to go to a business where we are valued and appreciated. So disappointed and not happy with the treatment I recieved. I have found 2 places who treat me as a valued customer. Got right in an appt and can wait for my car. read more

John Foley and his son Sean are class acts! If you are looking for an honest and reasonable repair station, look no further! I have had many repairs made here over the years and have total faith in their abilities in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicles. About my only concern with them is the length of time it takes for repairs to be complete. I contemplated knocking off a star because of the length of time it takes but decided that their honesty, integrity and reasonable repair fees outweigh the slowness. This shop is nearly always very very busy! All those customers can't be wrong! read more

Mr. Foley and his son Shawn run a great business... My family has been using them for repairs for almost 20 years now... Honest & Hard Working their shop lot is constantly full... They might have to tell you to wait a week... But they will do the work and charge a fair price... read more

Chuck K After moving to Meadowdale Road in 1979, I was referred to Foley's Garage. After 38 years John and Sean and his mechanics have cared for a wide variety of used cars Maryanne and I have had over the years. I've often remarked that Foley's Garage is the "most dependable thing in my life". Their prices are very reasonable and they have always done repairs in a timely manner. When one of our cars was a Volvo,they sent us to Rich Frolich in Voorheeseville. When one of our cars was a Saab they sent us to (Carl) and Howard who used to have the nearby Saab dealership. When a friend's car was damaged by a fallen branch they sent her to Warren's Autobody Shop on Route 20 on the way to Duanesburg to bring her car back from "totaled" to "like new". When in the area, I try to find an excuse to stop for some quality time with Sean and Tracy and the mechanics. If Yelp permitted I'd give Foley's Garage 10 Stars!!!! read more

I had a mechanic in Guilderland for a few years but he started to go a little postal on me so I started a search for a new mechanic. I asked several local folks here in Altamont and they all recommended Foley's Garage. The locals were right. Foley's is just Great! Tracy (the wonderful lady who does the scheduling and billing) is very, very nice always so pleasant, friendly and professional. Sean is the main mechanic and owner and he is also very friendly and professional. I took two of my vehicles to them for inspections and other issues and they handled everything perfectly. I recommend them very highly! I can't imagine going anyplace else! read more
