Don't Buy a Car here!! The only mechanic here I can speak on is Mike Johnson. He is very good and…read moreI've worked with him for years. However, they sold me an absolute lemon. I wish id just bought a new car instead. I paid $4000 for a 2002 VW Jetta. They told me it was in great shape and everything had been replaced, fixed etc... Maybe, but I've had it less than a year and its had multiple transmission leaks, windshield wiper motor blew and needed to be replaced, starter needed to be replaced, lower control rods need to be replaced, the turn signal electronics needed to be replaced. I cant help but think Tim and Co. took us for a ride here. I've had to put over 2000$ of work into the car in less than a year and now it needs 1300$ worth of more work done. I'm going to drive it into the ground and scrap it. Mike Johnson has always done very solid work for me BUT be very wary buying a vehicle here. Heed this warning, they will sell you a lemon and act like they're doing you a favor. 1 Star.

DO NOT BRING YOU VEHICLE HERE. (Even if you're desperate.)…read more Brought my vehicle in for a coolant leak, the diagnosis alone was $255, for a new radiator and hoses the estimated me $1600. $700 of that was just for a radiator which is just ridiculous. When I called and questioned the price Bob reassured me that they would be the best quality parts etc. etc. I agreed for the work to be done because I was desperate to get back on the road asap, I know now that was a bad decision. When I picked up the vehicle I looked under the hood and it looked almost like they didn't replace anything at all. I'm not a mechanic of course so I moved on and drove to work. Less then a 20 min drive there immediately as I parked the vehicle starts smoking and I step out to see the coolant has leaked again. I call the shop and Bob gives me an indifferent apology and had the vehicle picked towed back to the shop. The owner Joe was also not reasonable and said "well you agreed to the price" no where does it even say there labor rate. When everything was said and done my experience was horrible only the tow guy knows what they're doing. (Mercedes w204)

Best place in the Capital Region for auto care and repair. We have been going to Ernie's for many…read moreyears and the quality and care and service we get is always exceptional. Now my adult children all bring their vehicles to Ernie's as well; when you find a great mechanic you stick with him! All you have to do is watch how many regulars and return customers he has and that speaks volumes about how his service builds customer trust and loyalty. The prices are reasonable, the service is prompt, sometimes while you wait; always in the same morning or same day service. Most importantly, in every vehicle Ernie's take care of for our family, he takes the time to explain what is needed and when it is needed, and on the vehicles we own with dealership warranties, he always advises whether we really need the service or we do not, and he always looks for the best option for the customer, not just what is best for the dealership or the bottom line to the business, how are you going to beat that? You can't! In addition, if you need service he doesn't provide (body work, painting, etc.) he always knows someone who can do the work that he trusts and knows well enough to recommend with full confidence. Can't beat that! This shop is a place you can trust and depend on 100% - what a concept! Thanks to Ernie and his team for making our entire family happy, 100% satisfied, and very well cared for customers for at least the last 15 years! Trust me on this recommendation - you will be very glad you did!
