Asked for my medicinal records to be sent to me. They literally sent it to me on a CD... they could've just sent a floppy disk it would've been just as helpful. Why were all of my other doctors able to send via login portal or via print out mail. Also, they were the ONLY office to charge me, and $25. I don't even know where to take a CD to get the data off of it, my laptop nor my bfs even has a CD port anymore. One would think that if your doctor saw a mass in one of your scans, they would tell you (you know, just do the bare minimum). This was not the case with Dr. Dermody. He neglected to inform my step dad over a YEAR AGO that he had a mass. And now it turns out it's cancer. So we can put this in the EPIC fail column. Why on earth would you (1.) not say something, (2.) figure out what it is, or better yet, (3.) refer the patient to someone who can help if you have no interest in doing so? I went in as a new patient. Had a horrible meeting with PA Bell and never met the doctor. He was dismissive and made snap judgments about me that were not fair. I left feeling bullied. I thought about it and wrote a letter to both the doctor and Bell explaining why I was leaving and hoped they could learn from the experience. I did end up finding a fine doctor in Sonoma. I later got a call to make an appointment. I told them I had left and had written a letter explaining why. "Oh, we don't really use letters." WTF? Now, over a month later I get another call for me to make an appointment. I explained what had happened and asked to speak to the doctor directly. I was told he wouldn't do that and I could make an appointment. Fat chance! I just asked them to take my number and the Dermody could call me if he wants. This is a very small town and now I have a very big mouth. I was trying to be tactful and say that we're not a good fit but I think there is something basically wrong with this office. read more

This place, the receptionist and their policy is an absolute joke. I wait at least 15- 20 minutes every time I come here. Today I had a 5 pm appt with Eric Bell to review my new meds for hypertension and blood pressure that he prescribed. I called at 455 sharp to let them know I was going to be a little late like 3 minutes. The receptionist said that I would have to reschedule. Really? Reschedule for being a few minutes late when I wait for them all the time. On top of it, he never called to see how I was doing with the new meds. Then, it gets better- I have been trying to get my annual mammogram. Queen of the valley has called them 5 times and they have not sent it. I Finally had to email the request to Queen of the Valley directly. Apparently the Dad was a good MD back in the day- now it's his son Patrick, an NP Eric Bell and a full staff of administrative assistants that do absolutely nothing to help. I GIVE UP! The Office staff is rude & uncaring. They could care less about their patients. It was pulling teeth to get an appointment & I had to have the insurance call them to tell them they had the wrong information. The basically told me I was a liar when I asked to email past health records. Who makes a appointment for 10 years of health records. Are they aware that would take hours to go through? Why can't things be emailed so the doctor can review? It's all about money . Plus, I tried to tell them that my dad can't walk nor remember anything due to his dementia. They hung up on me . No they don't care ! It's NOT about customer or patient care . They need to fire the office staff & get caring people on there !! read more

The office is horrible and I would never recommend anyone going there. I didn't have yelp on my phone, only added it to post this review. I've had two bad experiences there, but this last one has me incredibly upset. I was seen on the 9th of January for a rash on my face. I said I only needed a referral to a dermatologist, but was told I had to go in and be seen. The doctor looked at my face for 1 second and said he had no idea what it was and would give me a referral. I realize this is just for them to get the co-pay, but I played along. I kept waiting for my insurance to send me the letter saying I could book with a dermatologist and nothing came. I finally called and they said they had not received anything. I called Dermodys office on January 18th. They said they would look into it and call me back. No phone call back. I called again on Tuesday January 22nd and they told me it was sent the week before. My insurance that day again assured me nothing was sent. Finally on January 24th I called the office again. The receptionist admitted that it was never sent in. So who ever I spoke with on that Tuesday flat out lied to me. The receptionist put me on a long hold and NEVER once even apologized. The rash has spread to half my face and they could have cared less. I will never go back. I have told EVERYONE I know and as mentioned the rash is all over so a lot of people have asked me what's going on. This office is a joke and a perfect example of the system taking advantage and how some doctors only care about one thing.........the money. Nightmare at my expense and DO NOT go to this office. This office is unreasonably picky about prescriptions and will needlessly make you arrange office visits over and over again. Physicians of course have to be vigilant against over-prescribing pain pills, antidepressants, and other addictive drugs. But this office forces you to schedule a face to face for anything and everything. If you have been using a non-addictive medication for 5, 10, 20 years and you need a re-fill in a pinch, (ran out on vacation, forgot to re-up), don't expect Dermody to cooperate. A phone call is not going to work. Moreover, I've been in this office with 2 or 3 minor issues (e.g. ear wax, weird pain in my thumb), and this office will spread the minor issues out over 2 or 3 separate office visits. I'm not saying they are milking the insurance company, but what else could it be? Once a doctor gets to know you and you have a good relationship (we do), there has to be some trust at some point. It can't hurt calling in a prescription once in a while, unless. . . Anyway, 5 years with this office and I'm not coming back. Just know what you are getting into. read more

Omg where to begin?! If you decide to go, make sure you know the website and phone number of CMS!! Zero follow through - so you might as well just go to the Queen...which is where You will end up- and WHEN you call to tell them you are on the way there---THEN they might answer the 60 calls you have made to their office!!!! Then they try to lie to you about the fact that "we don't know what time the RX's are sent out by our system" (after they were told that their patient was on the way to hospital due to lack of response by their doctor.... They NEVER send out timely statements for patient contributions- basically told me "ya, you have to call to figure out what you owe and pay it". Essentially- they lack much of the required processes and protocols needed in their field. I currently have a few cases with CMS in development as they saw my whole family. I could go on....I cannot tell if the doctors are any good- but their staff and front ARE part of their overall treatment to patients- they get an F- from this patient and family. read more

I can't recommend this doctors office. They don't think an appointment is necessary when you faint and have to get stitches but won't refill your birth control without an appointment. Even though you've been waiting a week for them to do and they can't even give you a month refill while you wait for an appointment to be available. I am so disappointed that after over twenty years as a patient of Dr. Dermodys office, without notice, I have been told that my partnership insurance will no longer be accepted.Being 70 years old and on SSI, this leaves me without a doctor and told that when I went in because of bronchitis, I was then told I would owe for my appt. This is my primary physician and I called to try to make an appointment and based on that call, got a red flag to never go there. Their receptionist sounded very un caring , no flexibility. My insurance provided one of their doctors as PP, when I called they said not taking new patients but other doctor in the same office was. Interesting because with my daughters pediatrician, one of the doctors name is on the card but doesn't necessarily gets seen by that doctor every time. Anyways, changing the doctor won't go until effect until the 1st of the month, and I have an asthma condition going on where I can't breathe so I said to the receptionist, can you prescribe something over the phone, said no, then I said what am I suppose to do if you can't see me in the meantime, not breathe? To be fair there is a really nice lady there too and if you are lucky enough to talk to her you are golden, but the other lady was so short and nasty, I got a new doctor referral while I was sitting in the waiting room. Need to see the Doctor for a sinus infection. Called office and was told that since it has been 2 years I had to re apply as a new patient and the soonest I could be seen was at least a week. I asked if maybe the doctor could call me since i had been a patient there since the early nineties, and had a history of sinus issues. I was told that they would ask him to call. They never did. This is the second time I have had an issue with this office, and was the reason I hadn't seen him within the last 2 years. What a rude and unprofessional organization. I love John Dermody, but this has to be said. Are you female and on birth control? Find a different office, because only one person here will prescribe your birth control and they are NEVER IN THE OFFICE. Your prescription will go un-filled and un-renewed despite multiple calls by both patient and pharmacy. I appreciate different religious backgrounds to be sure, but when this is not shared with patients and becomes an issue with healthcare quality, it makes me extremely angry. read more

My husband and I have been patients of Dr Dermody's for the past 20 years. We have never been thrilled with the front office staff but it was worth staying with the practice because we really loved Dr Dermody. I seldomly need to be seen as I have been very healthy (knock on wood). I was having abdominal pain and saw Merry, the nurse practitioner who wasn't sure what was going on so she sent me in for a CT scan. The scan results were in the next day. I had to call the office back for the results. I was told by the receptionist "we have the report and it says that there is a large mass and we will be sending you to Dr. XXXX for a biopsy." This completely took me by surprise and I hung up in shock. I would think that such news would be coming from a medical professional with an explanation. I called Dr Dermody's office to see if they would fax the report to my internist in San Francisco since he had done a prior surgery on me. I was told by the receptionist "we don't have the CT images so you will need to call over to the hospital for that". Again I was shocked that Dr Dermody had not seen the images. I called the hospital and they were prompt in getting that report and CD to my internist. I later called my internist and told him the story and his main suggestion was to NOT have a local surgeon do the biopsy and that a specialist should be seen. I again called Dr Dermody's office to ask them if I could speak with Dr Dermody about what the internist had said and the receptionist took notes and said "I will give this to Dr Dermody and see what he wants to do". I waited and no call. I called the office again the next day to ask why the Dr had not called me to discuss my concerns and was told "Dr Dermody approved the referral so we will be faxing that over to the specialist today after he signs it". So I guess a phone call to a patient was not important! I called the office back at the end of the day to follow up and they had not yet faxed my referral but they said "we are sending it over now" I called the specialist the following morning and they said they had just received it that day"! This is now 8 days after the CT scan. I was waiting to get an appointment for a biopsy with the specialist and just found out that Dr Dermody's office sent the specialist an incomplete report and the diagnosis was completely wrong and didn't even mention a "mass in the abdomen". It's been 3 weeks tomorrow since by initial CT scan and I am still waiting for a biopsy date because of the incompetence of Dr Dermody's office. This has been completely frustrating and scary for me and I feel abandoned by Dr. Dermody. I will be looking for a new PCP that has the time to spend with me as a patient and who has office staff that can do their job effectively. I'm so disappointed!!! read more

Dr Dermody has been my mothers primary physician for numerous years. Her name is Betty Lou Dulle. She was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer April 2017. In Feb 2018 she became bedridden with many complications. She and family members set up the humane euthanisa so she could die with dignity. Dr Dermody was at the family home and stated he thought she had less than two weeks and talked her out of humane euthanisa. Well now, almost three months and she is slowly dying of starvation and dehydration, defecating in a diaper. She begged my dad of 64 years of marriage to shoot her. The entire family is extremely upset and stressed. This is torture for my mother and I am angry that Dr. Dermody had the audacity to talk my mom out of her choice. We put our beloved pets to sleep humanely yet our loved humans have to suffer. Shame on you Dr. Dermody!!!!! read more
