Background: Our family was moving from NorCal to SoCal for…read morework. This placed a limitation on our flexibility to schedule home tours and meetings. This also added additional difficulties once we began the process of closing on our eventual purchase. Connecting with John: We found John through a family referral. The initial discussion about our situation was easy and painless. We became fast friends with John and he made the interaction more like speaking with a friend rather than a pushy realtor. The Search: For about 3 weeks our search was a bit passive. We made 2 trips down to the Los Angeles area attempting to narrow down the specific neighborhood we wanted to live in. It took John only his second house until we found the exact area we knew we wanted to be. (Aka, he truly listened to the characteristics our family had as priorities). The House: We landed on 2 homes in the same neighborhood with the same floor plan. Each home has small variations that we needed to consider. John not only made sure to set up times that were convenient for us (remember we were living in NorCal at the time), he even went as far as touring the home prior to our arrival and sent us a video walk through with detailed commentary of his expert experience of things we should consider. That level of detail gave us the confidence we needed and eliminated any wasted time. In person, we could focus on the "feeling" we got in each home and the details of each property. Once we decided on which home to choose, we made our offer. John guided us through each step and was available for phone calls outside of business hours to make sure all of our questions were answered. The Close: Minutes from the acceptance of our offer, John magically had a bottle of champagne delivered to our doorstep. Again, we were in NorCal 300+ miles away!! He made the celebration feel like we were there with him in person. During the timeframe of inspections and final details, due to our distance, John acted as our stand in, along with local family, to ensure everything was done to our liking. From inspections to contractors, he was meticulous about every detail to ensure everything was perfect. Move In Day (Night): I was scheduled to be the first person in our family to make the trip to our new home. As I drove up my new drive way after a 4.5 hour trip, I unlocked my door for the first time to smell a fresh and newly deep cleaned home (thanks John! - another nice added touch). My fatigue vanished as I realized, what could have been a nightmare, was in fact a dream come true. The view from our new home was the perfect finish to a perfect experience. Why John: His approach is what realtors should be - client first! He never made us feel pressured. He treated us first class from every step. From lattes at the start of every showing, to deep cleaning our home minutes before I stepped foot in it for the first time, he made us feel like we were the most important clients he had. Even after we closed and moved into the home, he stayed in contact (even to this day) to make sure details and questions were answered. He even followed up on a small project I wanted to do with our newly acquired pool, to provide his assistance and local connections. Bottom Line: If I could give John 10 STARS, I would. He represents what a Realtor should be. Cheers John! And thank you for everything!!

Alan Glasband's the Man!…read more Alan's knowledge helped me get a house in one of the toughest markets in the U.S., SoCal. And I needed a deal (or should I say a STEAL), because I'm a teacher, and while I dig my job, it's not the most lucrative. With Alan's help, I got a deal that was nearly a steal. He earned his commission by helping me every step of the way. First, I had to get off the title of a previous property I'd purchased with a partner, so he had his office fill out everything for me and help me file a quit claim deed. Then we wrote offers: close to a dozen, to be exact. All along, we walked the houses together, and he gave invaluable insights on a property's real value by discussing layout, curb appeal and things to watch out for that really helped me understand what I was looking at. Since I needed a deal, he taught me about short sales, and we put in offers on a couple of properties in probate. Probate properties can get thorny with all the legal issues, and, sure enough, that happened to me, but Alan has access to a real estate attorney so helped me navigate through the maze. Ultimately, with Alan's advice, I decided to pass because the deal was too complicated and simply not worth the effort. At the end, I was in the enviable position of having three excellent properties to choose from, of course, because it's feast or famine. Choice overload seized me, and I simply couldn't figure it out on my own. Fortunately, Alan talked me through it, and he worked with me to break each property down as we discussed things like commute, community, layout--the things that mattered to me the most because he'd been listening to me all during the search and knew what was really important to me. That's the kind of personal touch you can expect from Alan. He's your man.
