I had put off finding a new dentist for quite some time. I met with an office member that couldn't have been nicer. As it can be embarrassing explaining this, she was companionate and stated there were a couple of hygienists who would be great for me. The day of my appointment I was nervous going to a new place and it had been so long but was okay because of the talk with the office staff. I went back with the hygienist who was friendly but it took a short amount of time for me to realize she knew nothing; she didn't know I hadn't been to the dentist in years, didn't know about childhood trauma, she had no idea I was nervous...... She was again friendly (smiling) but not a good fit for someone in my situation. She didn't explain things; yes a lot has changed over the years; I honestly sat confused how this appointment could have gone so wrong after being reassured when I made the appointment; a mistake had to have been made. I finally spoke up a couple of times asking questions especially when I was being taken to another room for an X-ray after having X-rays in the first room. I was clueless at what was going on and she wasn't explaining. When I got up from my chair I was sweating so bad you could see the outline of my body in the chair. I kept thinking when was it going to be over. Then another thing done I had never had done and didn't know what it was; I finally stopped her and asked her what this was. As she smiled, she would I'm sure be good for someone who goes to the dentist every 6 mo and knows the routine and doesn't need anything explained but in my situation, not a perfect fit. At that point I was thinking with the hygienist, I was never stepping foot in there again. But then I met Dr Hana; absolutely calming and compassionate. It was obvious he knew my situation. When I left, I left now torn about going back. I thought if I could just get a different hygienist I would be okay. Time lapsed past my 6 month appointment, I received emails, text messages and post cards to make an appointment. One day when I received a text message, I texted back about my experience. Stated I didn't know if I wanted to come back because of the hygienist but was thinking about coming back because the dentist was excellent. Attached is the response I received; then ghosted. I repeated that I didn't want to speak ill of the hygienist but not a good fit for anyone in my situation. I know for a fact as the employees are good, every employee excels in different areas. I was hoping since my initial office staff encounter was excellent and encounter with the doctor was excellent, a different hygienist would be a good resolution. I thought a mistake had been made. Instead it is stated they would reflect on what could have been done better? Not an attempt for a resolution? Not an offer of a different hygienist? Not I'm sorry, maybe she was unaware of my situation? Not, maybe there was a mixup with appointments and I received the wrong hygienist? I finally gave honest feedback hoping there would be an easy solution; a different hygienist. This puts more shame towards people that don't feel comfortable at a dentist. SO disappointed.....

He sat and discussed all the options to take care of my problems and made me feel confident with my decisions. He backs his work 100%. My teeth are in his hands, literally! I went there to the referral appointment . Called back to Oakridge to make my appointment and she said they no longer take my insurance all of a sudden. She was very sarcastic with no apology. The office staff never really made me feel welcome there . Why dental offices do this to people is absolutely ridiculous to make someone feel less than because of insurance. It was our first time at this practice. Mitchell Solverson reviewed x-rays for my 9 1/2 year old and determined that she had four cavities between baby molar teeth. Typically, I would trust such medical advice but Mitchell Solverson wasn't acting as a trusted professional. He came off very pushy and urgent to get these "cavities" filled asap, even though my daughter was in no pain. He was also insistent that my 11 year old get an already loose baby tooth removed for no apparent reason--no crowding or issues with the tooth. As he was discussing this he came off like a used car salesman. It was obvious that he was looking for ways to increase his billable work. I decided to get a second opinion. I had the x-rays sent to another dental practice. Upon review they found ZERO cavities. The dentist said even if there were cavities the permanent molars will be arriving in months based on the x-rays. There is no sense in filling cavities in baby teeth that are about to fall out. I am glad that Mitchell Solverson gave off such alarming red flags so I could remove my children from his care but am sickened that he was trying to push unnecessary procedures.

Dr. Boltwood on the other hand is absolutely fantastic. She's gentle, compassionate, meticulous and detailed - something I very much appreciate as someone who's experienced exactly the opposite with so many other area dental offices. But aside from doing really solid work, I've found her to be a very down to earth, genuinely nice person who's easy to talk to and who takes a sincere interest in her patients. Even though I (like most people) never LIKE going to the Dentist, I'm a lot more comfortable going to Dr. Boltwood than I've ever been going anywhere else - because I know she'll do a consistently great job, take very good care of me while I'm there, and will frequently follow-up afterward to make sure I'm still doing OK. Others in the office including her assistant Dawn, office manager Kathy, hygienists Annie, Beth and Dee Dee are all great as well and it's just an all-around good group of people. This practice is professionally managed, has excellent dentists, hygienists, and administrative staff. They listen, are attentive and my son is NOT afraid to go to the dentist, thank goodness. With that said, it DOES take 6 months to get your initial cleaning appointment, so they are not a last minute, broke my tooth on the weekend dentist unless you are an established patient. If you make an initial appointment, keep it. You won't get a cancellation or another appointment for 6 months. When you have a cleaning, schedule your next one before leaving the appointment or you won't get one until 6 months after you call to schedule your next appointment. They aren't open every day of the week, either. If you can handle all of this - schedule with them, they are worth it.
