An immense public park filled with the colossal sculptures and monumental gates by Gustav Vigeland…read more I had wanted to see this and luckily our tour brought us here. Our guide described the history of the sculpture garden and gave interpretations of many of the sculptures. Well worth a visit.
Well that sure was interesting - a whole park of over 500 sculptures by the same artist. The park…read moreitself is beautiful, free, huge and it's open all the time. No fences! It is a big tourist attraction so in peak season it can be busy but rarely crowded except at a few popular sculptures like the angry boy. For me the sculptures were OK and felt a bit repetive in style though they are certainly all different. We took the tram here since it is a bit out from central Oslo. One of the best deals in Norway!

My relatives and parents wanted to take a stroll in a small public park. My cousin mentioned that…read moresvartdalsparken is very scenic and beautiful. We went through a small path that lead us to the entrance. There were picnic tables and lots of kids/families in the area. Once we went through the front, starts a small trail which is scenic. You might want to wear tennis shoes-you are entering a hiking trail that is not paved. There are small ponds you will pass. I believe at 1.5 miles you cross this bridge with a beautiful waterfall and an old abandoned building, which is worth the hike. These woods/hike is not strenuous, but I suggest you wear the proper footwear.
