Thin pizza with mushrooms and sausage was great. Tasty, good size sausage and medium was generous. Back tonight for Caruso's salad.

First time here. Ordered my standard - beef, sweet & hot, side of gravy and fries. Beef was good, tender and nicely sliced. Sweet peppers were cooked perfect - not raw but not mushy. Giard - not my fav style but decent. Plus they had peppers hidden under the beef as well. Gravy was very good - just the right amount of pepper and oregano. I really liked the fries - right out of the fryer, crispy but just the right amount of grease. $13 with a fountain drink.

Stopped in today for the first time. I had a 14" sausage pizza, delicious! Mario it was a pleasure meeting you and your nephew today, thank you for the great pizza!

Here is the NAIL that was in my pizza! DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE!

Joeys pizza is awful and the service was terrible. We ordered a pizza and it came with a NAIL in the food! I almost ate this and it cut my mouth. We called to complain and got no refund or replacement food. DO NOT EAT HERE. This nail could've really injured me!

Upon my arrival to Chicago I was starving for any Midwest food. My homie and I found a place that was open then ordered the menu. Lol...6 Wings & fries, a small cheese & sausage pizza & one Italian Beef sandwich. Everything was amazing, genuine customer service and the slots were a nice bonus. My Italian Beef hoagie could've been dipped once more, but it was still delicious.

Those are the best hand cut french fries I've had in a long time. I had the homemade classic Italian beef w spicy peppers which was good compared to these amazing fries. The prices are right and they have beer and video poker + slots. If I have a craving for fries I know the place I'm heading. Bunch of nice "goodfellas" looking guys hanging out in there. You can tell it's a family/local joint. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Would give them a 3.5/5 for certain

    Slice of Sausage!

Wow! I just grabbed a slice of pizza from here and I'm pissed right now for 2 reasons: The owner told me that I was going to eat that slice of pizza and it's gon be so good, I'd be mad that I didn't buy a second slice (he was right) and 2, I was so hungry that I slammed that slice of pizza and clean forgot to take a pic! A slice of pizza that good deserved a pic! Stopped in here for lunch because I work 5 minutes away and didn't have a taste for my norm pack of tuna. Grabbed a slice of sausage. I'm STILL thinking about that slice! Let's start with the crust as many never get this right! It was perfectly soft! It didn't feel like I had pizza on top of edible cardboard. The crust was so soft, it felt like I was eating a thin freshly baked roll. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and the cheese had a nice gooeyness (likely not a real word). The good amount of sausage made for a perfect slice and a new loyal customer! Looking forward to my return trip. Promise to take a pic next time!

They are not messing around with the monster slices! I was fully prepared to go nuts for lunch and get two, following the advice of another reviewer, but changed my mind when I decided I wanted to have room for breakfast tomorrow. Crust is a little tough and crispy for my liking, but well salted. Tastes a lot like a giant, triangular grissini. You get a LOT for less than $5.

Posto 31 is located in Lagrange Park which is just slightly outside and west of the city. Their restaurant week deal is $45 per person for dinner and every adult in the party is required to participate. We tried the following: 1) Pork belly with a brown butter sweet potato mash and apple slaw - This was a delicious and refreshing appetizer. The fat isn't excessive and there is a good sear with the pork belly. I think it was different in a sense that it didn't exactly go with the Italian theme. 2) Arancini with chicken, parmesan, mozzarella, and marinara. This is the standard fare and you can't go wrong with this selection. 3) Faroe Island salmon with squash puree and Brussel sprout slaw. The salmon was well executed and I loved how it was paired with the slaw. 4) Arrabbiata with squid ink linguini and jumbo shrimp. This was the star of the night and what drew our attention when we first reviewed the restaurant week menu. It is rare to find squid ink linguini in the city and neighboring suburbs. The portion was huge and the flavors were absolutely delicious. We are already planning a return to order this again. 5) Tiramisu was the standard fare and once again, the portion was huge. We demolished it though. 6) Cookie skillet had a square of chocolate chip cookie topped with candied pretzels, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. We did not get to try it because our girls just took it to town. So needless to say, it was thoroughly enjoyed. We also ordered the kids' an eight inch pepperoni pizza. It was more than enough for our two girls to share.

Mattone has a pretty standard menu of Italian food like spaghetti. A lot of the familiar. The flavors may not be as good as they used to be so just know that and it will seem like better quality. Certainly the happy hour is the best time to come. It's expensive already so save a few bucks and it makes things quite an improvement. There's a lot of what to expect on the menu. Cocktails and pasta of course. They took forever taking everyone's order and then there was even more waiting. It's about $12 for the cheapest cocktails. They have a few bucks off martinis at the happy hour thankfully. A serious lack of vegetarian choices. There's even salads covered in bacon and pancetta. Has a few weekly specials to check out. It's $20 for the classics specials on Thursdays. Among the options are lasagna and spaghetti. This also comes with a choice of soup so you get lots with this. Actually a pretty filling meal. They can make the spaghetti without meatballs and stuff. Got to say it gets busy. It's only open in evenings. There's limited options for vegetarians.

For the main, I couldn't look past the Carne, filetto alla Rossini. 8 oz Black Angus filet, ordered medium. When it came out, it was charred on the outside, super juicy and tender. The flavors were insane. Beef, mushrooms, sauce, all working together. The edges had this crispy texture, and every bite had a smoky note. Straight up heaven. The space is beautiful, though the tables are... let's just say neighborly. Great if you enjoy bonding with strangers, less great if you like a little elbow room. The menu is interesting and inviting. We started with the parmesan artichokes. Crunchy and satisfying, with nice pieces throughout, but a bit shy on flavor. It felt like it almost got to the party but stopped just outside the door. For mains, everyone genuinely enjoyed their dishes. I had the gnocchi della casa with porcini ragù. The gnocchi were soft, light, and pillowy, though just a touch dense and missing that subtle potato flavor that makes you close your eyes for a second. Not quite at the level of my mom's or grandma's (but let's be honest, nothing ever is). The mushroom sauce was tasty, though it leaned slightly vinegary. The pistachio-crusted whitefish was a standout. Perfectly crisp on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. Definitely a win. The risotto of the day was creamy and comforting, but it felt like it was missing that little spark, that "something" that takes it from good to memorable. Drinks were a highlight. The Sicilian Negroni and Fields of Tuscany were both well-crafted and delicious. No notes there. For the price, it's a solid spot and worth experiencing at least once.
