Joe and his crew did a great job on all three of our properties from major tree trimming and removal to stump and major surface root grinding. His pricing was quite fair for the extent of each job. One tree on our personal property was very large and quite dead and both it's condition and position in relation to adjacent new fencing and plantings made the job quite challenging. Joe carefully considered various approaches before starting. His crew carefully removed the vulnerably placed sections of our new vinyl fence to protect it from damage and then safely and systematically took the beast down. They thoroughly cleaned up the job site and put the fence back together for us! The second property involved heavy trimming and limb removal of a large Japanese maple tree that is planted in an open ceiling enclosed courtyard. A great deal of the trees weight was resting on the roof and two of the large limbs were threatening to damage the roof. Joe and his crew carefully removed the offending limbs with no damage to the house and trimmed and thinned the canopy to a lovely graceful shape that no longer rests on the roof. Again the job site was left immaculate. In the third property Joe and his crew removed a large, partly dead tree from a small enclosed backyard, trimmed a large evergreen tree that was partly blocking the fence gate entryway, and removed several scrubby bushes that had been planted to closed to the house. The tree had an expansive nest of large surface roots which made use of the backyard treacherous for just walking and these were thoroughly removed. Update on my previous review. It took several months and an angry review on his website, but he kept his word and repaid half of the bill.

I googled "tree removal" and Joe's contact information came up. I called, left a message and within an hour he called me back. He came out in the evening to take a look at the tree(s). He gave us an estimate for one tree and the cost of three more for the future. We decided on one tree for now. He said he would come Sunday, but called this morning and said, "we'll be out in a few hours." They've come and gone, tree is gone, wood stacked and loose branches removed. I was pleased. The price was reasonable to take out an elm, but because it's expensive to have trees removed, we have to wait to do more. The other trees are bigger. Joe is friendly and easy to work with. I read the other more negative review and believe that Joe cares about his customers and if this happened, he did what was necessary to fix things. Hiring crews is always problematic, as we know from our own business doing home repairs and remodeling. I'd recommend Joe to other people. read more

Joe was very quick to come give us a quote for yard work, trimming, clean up, and if possible power washing the house. It was explained we were getting the house ready to be put on the market in 2 weeks. The quote was a little high but there was a lot of garbage around which we said we would deal with. So he went down to a more reasonable price. The work began promptly. However it is our fault we did not show Joe a picture of the kind of manicured look we wanted so the house looked nice for potential buyers first impression. I was home during the work being done and when I went outside to see I was very disappointed because the plants were butchered. Mind you they were trimmed back properly for winter and the person who lived there didn't water enough so they very much needed to be trimmed back. They'll look great in Spring. However we thought we communicated the esthetics were most important. All of that is just a matter of miscommunication. Joe was kind to take $200 off because of it. He then told us he gave us extra mulch to make up for the over trimmed plants and would replace the plants that were over cut. That was reasonable to us. Joe did do all he said he would do however he does not necessarily keep his word. I'm assuming it's due to his schedule. I found being firm with him and reminding him of what he said worked best. I would recommend him to only people who can be firm and don't let themselves be manipulated by sad stories of people trying to screw him over. The work was good enough but it's definitely not good detail work. And he makes you feel like you're ripping him off. Very unprofessional. I've been in business 20 years and it's true I'm picky about customer service. Joe has a nice personality however and I did tell him many times I was not trying to be mean but just to get what was expected and what we thought was communicated. He did get everything done in time for us to be able to paint the deck while the weather is still warm. So thank you for that Joe. It's just frustrating when you say you'll be there today and you aren't. Some people are just bothered by that more then others and I'm one of them. I know you're busy Joe. I know you work hard. Joe was quick to answer my inquiries about performing some needed sprinkler service. Joe raved about how many reviews he got online. He came out the next morning and said he would have a guy there the following Monday. That the person he would send was methodical and would do a good job. Worker showed up on time and indeed was methodical, he did a good job. However, as I was quoted $75 an hour plus parts, the gentleman did not have the parts needed in his trailer, so he had to go get them. Tubing to be exact. I feel that he should have that in his trailer. So he left and came back about an hour and a half later. Much to my surprise at invoice time I was shocked with a bill approaching $700. Joe called immediately after the job was finished (check for job was cashed immediately) and asked me to give a good review. My comment to Joe was, "I did not expect that I would be charged for travel time to get parts that should have been readily available in his workers trailer". I asked if he would consider refunding the amount for the travel time and complained that I should not have had to pay for travel time. His response was "Oh well". On a Tuesday, I had 2 missed calls from a local number with no voicemails. I then get a text saying "Hey, call me." I had to google the number to realize it was this business, who I had contacted through another site so didn't recognize the number offhand. I spoke with Joe regarding what I'd like quoted. Mid conversation, the phone cuts out so he texted me that he'd be out Friday at 6pm. That was fine, though I thought it was odd he couldn't come out until Friday. Many reviews I read on other sites indicated Joe was typically quick to get out there. I also thought 6pm on a Friday was late, especially when I know their day ends at 5pm (based on their FB page and other sites). Really, none of this is a big deal - except he didn't show up and didn't answer when I called. I'm a bit disappointed and will be going elsewhere. read more
