    Small piece of Homemade cake
    Mark A.

Super easy 5 stars. This places staff is on another level. The sweet lady at the counter that took my order you can tell she loves her job. I ordered the Burger combo $10 for a cheese burger and tots and a drink who can beat that deal. The burger bun is perfectly grill. The tots are crispy. Then to top it off they have this walnut cake homemade from "Debbie" WOW moist beautiful flavor and the picture was a "small" piece. Joe's is a must eat in Jourdanton. I had the hot dog and Tots and a drink today. Add the queso to everything it is amazing.

They have some really fun food options, we tried a goat cheese PB & j burger and it was super good, but I believe they change up their menu every so often, another hit was the Macaroni, and the jalapeno bacon jammin' burger and the fried pickles if you love fried pickles like we do then you won't be disappointed ordering them here! We tried some of their brews they had on tap and they were good! (I'm not a beer drinker but I brought two beer lovers with me to try!) They also have a large selection of other beer favorites for you to choose from! Also, we loved how friendly and kind the staff were with our kids! Friendly staff is always a bonus! Overall we enjoyed our time and will be back to try more of their beer & food! Tip: they have a kids menu but you have to ask them for it as it's not on their menu which is digital.

The crust was doughy and the toppings tasted off. It didn't have much cheese. We asked if they still made them from scratch and our server said nothing had changed. It just wasn't great. The wings were meh--just ok. Our server was super nice and friendly. She recommended a couple beers for us to try and we ended up ordering a second round. Very pleased with the service. They have several TVs so it was nice to watch the games playing. It wasn't too loud. I like the atmosphere. A mix of high top tables, standard tables and bar seating. I think next time we'll try something different on the menu.

There was a musician singing and playing guitar, and he was really good, which made the atmosphere even better. The drinks were great and the food was even better. There's a small play area just off the outside deck, and several kids were down there playing, which was nice to see. The highchairs can be a little hard to spot, but they do have them inside near the restrooms. Overall, it was a great experience and we'll definitely be coming back!

Both the kimchi fries and dumplings offered a unique taste that sit differently than most other places. It was a pleasant different though. The fries were great and the dumplings complimented the drinks! My partner had a Moscato and I chose a beer flight. Overall the vibe was good. A perfect day to eat outside , the six of us sat at an outdoor table. Our server was friendly and the menu had something for each one of us. We ordered fried mushrooms for the table and it came out pretty fast. The mushroom texture was kinda rubbery and others said the beer cheese dipping sauce had no flavor. We then put our drinks and lunch orders in. I really enjoyed the peach fruit geyser-beer. Thereafter, service went downhill. We noticed all customers that came and ordered after us were getting their food before we did. We were starving ! We had to flag down our server to find out was going on. After a long wait, our plates slowly started coming out. The turkey avocado BLT was pretty good- thick cut seasoned turkey, delicious thick cut bacon, I don't remember tasting much of the avocado, and I enjoyed the sourdough bread and fresh salad. Hubby had the chicken and waffles- he said it was ok- they were chicken tenders as opposed to fried chicken and the waffle was very dry. Food was just ok and service was very slow. Not sure we'll be back...

Service was friendly enough, so that's where the star came from. 3) When we opened our meals at home the quality of the food was horrible. He got a brisket grilled cheese, the bread was faced cheese side out and brisket was dry . I ordered the pig pie and it was served in two tiny containers, both containing only mash potatoes and soupy shredded pieces of pork that looked like cat food soup. Neither container had any roasted corn or cheddar cheese. The mash/pork soup was very salty and tasted old and smelled bad We were extremely disappointed. It's like there was no effort or pride in the service or the food. We used to love going there, and I am now not sure we will be returning.

The place was located in a small plaza off the side of some main roads, and we gathered for a class team building event. By that I mean beer and burgers. The entrance beckons you to come on in, what with its neon sign and all. The walk up feels rustic, and the door makes it official: you're entering an awesome place. There's plenty of seating and every night has something else to offer. I enjoyed the breakfast burger which was delicious. I liked the quality of the bread and the contrast of a well-seasoned patty. The fried egg was prepared beautifully, and the yolk covered the fries waiting below on the tray. The place is military friendly in terms of the bill and our sever, Rebecca, was not only fast and friendly but very welcoming and knowledgeable. Some folks decided to try their hand at Karaoke and had the stage to themselves. I liked that the TVs also had the lyrics up so that you could sing along without having to turn to face the stage. All in all it was a great place to grab a bite and build rapport with colleagues.

We arrived at 12:45, and by 3:00 p.m. only about half of our group had received their food. While the servers themselves were polite and professional, this issue falls squarely on management and whoever approved the reservation knowing they could not reasonably accommodate it. To make matters worse, the food was overpriced and similar to food court food. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I cannot recommend this restaurant. If I were the manager I would've comped the whole party. This is not a way to run a business!

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

Service was prompt, and the ambiance is a funky cross between a bakery and a diner. Parking is easy in their private lot. I first tried their 'Texas Style' pastrami Reuben sandwich. This is smoked pastrami brisket, served with on their house-made marbled rye and topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli. Quite a bit different than a NYC-style sandwich. The aioli instead of dressing, thicker slices, etc etc. But wow, did it taste good. It's as if a pastrami Reuben and a sliced smoked brisket sandwich had a love child who inherited the best from each parent. I also tried their salmon gravlax on an 'everything' bagel. This bagel was baked in-house, topped with the cured salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, and a sprig of dill. Rustic, beautiful, and delicious. Definite recommend! My main reason for trying out wild barley was because they have sour beers, it wasnt the best sour beer i have ever had, but i have noticed in Texas the sour beers have a strange taste to them that i cant quite put my finger on.
