The secretary insisted that as new patients we had to schedule a MEET AND GREET with the doctor or PA. I scheduled the MEET AND GREET appts. My husband went to the office and met the AP, dropped of the new patient paperwork. The AP listened to the lung sounds and that was it. He then scheduled an apt for a physical. A couple of weeks later we get a bill for $250 for that "visit." About $70 was paid by our insurance so we had to pay the rest of the balance. I called the office shocked that this was a real charge as there was no real visit and all we needed was a physical which is paid 100% by our insurance. The office confirmed that this was a real charge. We paid the charge and felt that it was a scam. I cancelled my appt for the meet and greet and will not visit this doctor again. It is truly a shame that you do not tell patients that a meet and greet means you will pay over $300 for me to come to your office and drop off paperwork and greet the doctor or AP. I could have done that when I came for a full physical. Not only you have to take time off from work but you get a nice fat bill for nothing. Had never heard of such scams but my mother in law is an AP and she confirmed that her office does not do such "meet and greet" sessions since insurance companies don't pay for them and they are absolutely a waste of time.

Waiting room has a selection of magazines that date back to 2011, may be time to switch some out. I typically have to wait at least an hour to see someone even if my appointment was early in the day. As I have been going here for many years, I can't compare this wait time to other local doctors, but it is annoying.

David Mintell has been my primary care physician for the past 25 years. He is a doctor out of the…read more"old school": warm, caring, thorough, and extremely well-informed. He's taken good care of me through thick and thin, and I truly feel that in him I have a vigorous health-care advocate. One indication of his skills and reputation is that other physicians go to Dr. Mintell as their family doctor. I only wonder how much longer he'll be practicing; he's in his early 70's now, and despite being very active and apparently in excellent health, everybody has to retire sooner or later.

I appreciated his willingness to be helpful. He told me to have an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound at another hospital, and the result was sent to his office. I called the office yesterday and asked about the result of the ultrasound. I was asking to speak with the doctor directly, but I was not able to. A receptionist over the phone stated she talked to the doctor, and the result was "indeterminate." I asked her to explain what that means. She stated, "It means we don't know what the heck is wrong with you." Then I asked what else the doctor found in the result. She stated there is nothing she can say. I was disappointed that she was not willing to help me speak with the doctor directly regarding my test results. I called the hospital today again about some concerns that I had. A receptionist became irritated, and stated "The doctor has nothing to talk to you about that." I asserted the importance of speaking with my doctor. She did not listen. She became more irritated and insisted that the doctor does not need to speak to me. She finally stated she would let the doctor know about my call. However, she was very unhelpful and unwilling to assist me. When I explained to her the importance of this matter, she simply hung up while I was still speaking. I felt mistreated and disrespected by her rude and unprofessional behavior. My hope is the doctor is informed about this inappropriate and unjust behavior of his receptionist(s) and he can take appropriate actions to rectify this. As a patient, I have a right to speak with my doctor.

He spends enough time with his patients to gain a holistic understanding of their situation and is pragmatic, smart and just very nice. The office staff and his PA are great, too.

If you are looking for an advocate for a health issue, this is not the place. Lab results took a month to complete, when I was told that they would likely take about 4 days. They were not willing to reach out to the lab. They were not willing to retest and send to a different lab. To them this is a job, not a passion. After being ill for over a month and coming in twice, with no progress (no new tests, no new medication, no ideas). The third time, I was late exactly 10 minutes because I was printing lab results that, had finally, just arrived (after approx 1 month) and I knew that they would not have them, and I thought it would be helpful to bring them. I was told that they have a late policy and could not see me. There was no one else in the office.
