We began our fertility journey in November 2025, and throughout every step of the process, Dr. Barsky has been incredibly supportive, compassionate, and reassuring. We started with one round of IUI before moving forward with IVF, and today, May 2026 we are pregnant with two healthy twins. IVF is an emotionally and physically demanding journey, which makes it so important to trust and feel confident in the team caring for you. Every single person at the clinic made us feel supported and cared for -- from the kind women at the front desk, to the phlebotomists, the nurses who assisted during egg retrieval, the embryologist and every single doctor that was involved, and of course Dr. Barsky and her entire team. Beyond being an exceptionally qualified doctor, Dr. Barsky is also a genuinely wonderful person. She listens patiently to every concern and always takes the time to address questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Although everyone we worked with was amazing, I especially want to thank Nurse Diana and Elizabeth. Diana made every blood draw unbelievably smooth, and Elizabeth was always so responsive, helpful, and reassuring whenever we had questions or needed guidance. I am beyond grateful for the care we received and so pleased with our experience. These women made such a meaningful impact on our lives, and I truly cannot wait to introduce our babies to them one day.

It was Friday, September 27, 2024, that my life changed overnight. I went from being completely…read morehealthy--perfect bloodwork, no medications, a clean organic diet, slim and fit--to being crippled overnight. I am a Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale University, and a full-time private practitioner. I love my work and my patients. But now, I am the patient. After having two infected molars extracted--remnants of childhood root canals--I suffered a stroke just a day and a half later, paralyzing the right side of my body. My neurologist at Yale's Stroke Clinic believes bacteria entered my bloodstream from the procedure. I was prescribed antibiotics only on the day of extraction, not before. I had always been fiercely independent. Suddenly, I was helpless. Lying in bed, unable to move, I was consumed by an anxiety I had never known. The fear was paralyzing. Nights were sheer terror--I felt trapped in darkness, convinced morning would never come. My body wouldn't move, my mind raced, and the isolation of night made it unbearable. Sleep, crucial for brain repair after a stroke, was impossible. Desperate for relief, I reached out to Xilin Feng Jordan, the owner of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She had successfully treated me for a shoulder issue a decade earlier, and I knew I needed her expertise again. The universe works in mysterious ways--without Xilin, I don't know where I'd be. She is my miracle, my healer--physically, emotionally, and spiritually. With experience treating stroke patients in a Chinese hospital, she makes magic happen. Now, five months post-stroke, while I continue traditional rehab, it is Xilin's acupuncture--four to five times a week--that drives my recovery. I arrive struggling to move, and by the end of each session, I have more mobility than before. Walking, lifting my arm, moving my fingers--all remain challenges, but every day, I grow stronger. Her son, Libai, currently getting his degree in acupuncture, adds to her brilliance, offering insightful and effective recommendations. How wonderful it is to get two brilliant minds. Xilin is more than a practitioner; she is a spiritual healer. The energy she and Libai radiate is infectious. She lives what she teaches, recommending transformative books like The Magic of Surrender by Kute Blackson, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, Believe in Yourself by Joseph Murphy, The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer, and You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. At her suggestion, I now use a Biomat--an FDA-licensed infrared heating pad infused with amethyst and tourmaline, combining far-infrared light and negative ion technology. Every night, I lay on it for an hour while listening to audiobooks. This simple practice has been invaluable to my healing. In addition to acupuncture, Xilin prescribed two powerful herbal formulas. One calmed my crippling nighttime anxiety, allowing me to sleep--something I feared I had lost forever. That intervention was life-changing. Sleep is essential for stroke recovery; it's when the brain repairs itself. Without it, healing stalls. Xilin's medicine gave me back my nights, which in turn, gave me back my recovery. Recovery demands full commitment--physically, mentally, and emotionally. The mind holds immense power. If you believe you won't recover, you won't. Even with the best care, a negative mindset will sabotage progress. We are the product of our beliefs. Xilin has reshaped my perspective. I've let go of anger at the dentist who didn't prescribe antibiotics earlier. Instead, I focus entirely on the present--on healing. My journey is built on Xilin's extraordinary acupuncture, Chinese herbs, healthy eating, quality sleep, physical therapy, rehab, and the wisdom found in the books she recommended. Most importantly, she believes in me, and that belief helps me believe in myself. Her confidence in making a full recovery gives me the strength to keep going. That trust, that unwavering faith in my ability to heal, is just as crucial as any treatment. It is the foundation of my progress, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.

I went twice to my regular doctor who didn't help me much other than request a bunch of exams and saying to take "over the counter medicines" which were not helping at all. Very frustrated I decided to search for a good Chinese acupuncturist and after reading the reviews for Xilin Feng Jordan, I decided to make an appointment. Xilin does the first appointment via video, online. The appointment lasted around 45 minutes when Xilin asked me a lot of questions about my problem and my health. I was surprised with the connections she made with other health problems and with her true interest in knowing more about me. Xilin is not only an experience acupuncturist (I checked online all the designations she carries (Lac, DAc, Dipl. Ac, MSTOM) which tells me that she is always studying, and she mentioned to me that she recently got a certificate from the Back Center in United Kingdom for Bach Flower Therapy. She said that she can use this amazing tool to address patients emotional stress in-depth and to help people enhance their life qualities and prevent emotional induced physical pain. Xilin also specializes in herbs. I believe that the herbs she prescribed to me, in the first week, played a major role in my healing. The leftovers of those miracle/powerful herbs (it is a mixing of various herbs) would stick in my mug and I can imagine what it did inside; no surprise even the night secretion that was coming to my mouth during those 2 months simply disappeared. I went 3 times for acupuncture and from now on Xilin will be my to go person for acupuncture/herbs. Xilin never asked me to do a review, I am doing it because I am so grateful that she gave my life back and I hope I can help other people with the same problem to heal themselves. I feel totally fine, no more bloating of reflux.

Now we have a bill for over $200 when the dr. assured us that we 'wouldn't be charged' when he told us he couldn't help us in person. They are giving us the run around after multiple communications with both the dr. office and insurance. As a non binary person, the nurses wouldn't allow me to come in to some portions of the appointment with my partner of 7 years. Then the social worker had apparently never met someone like me before and asked all kinds of odd and damaging questions about my gender identity that have nothing to do with why we want to try and start a family. When I emailed the clinic about the above issues and specifically about the gender stuff, even the administrative staff used the wrong pronouns for me as if they had taken nothing in from my long email. Never go here if you are LGBTQ+ or really anyone. Also, your building looks like trash.

The statement about being a number is completely true. It very much reminded me of a cattle call situation. Yale is a teaching university so you are often approached with residents and fellows who are just beginning to learn the field and are painfully inexperienced. Doctors are constantly moving on from the clinic and in the year I was there my doctor changed 3 times. I completely sympathized and understood the comment about the med protocols. It's a complicated process and I missed one cycle b/c I had been taking my meds wrong due to the lack of sufficient instruction. I work in the medical field myself and still couldn't follow what I was supposed to be doing and ended up googling a lot of the information. After trying for so long, my husband and I realized we were pregnant only to be told in an email after a week of monitoring that it was "not good" and I would miscarry soon. No follow up, no compassion, no idea of what to expect. We now go to another clinic and the difference is UNBELIEVABLE!! THIS is how fertility treatments are supposed to be! We have a nurse we see every time and with whom we've established a close relationship. You are only seen by senior level faculty. Not to mention the offices are bright and cheerful, whereas Yale was an absolutely depressing and run down looking building. I'm just sorry we waited so long to switch to another clinic. We know two other couples who have used Yale and both also were very unhappy with their experience.

Dr. Hurwitz is patient, incredibly kind, and one of the most knowledgeable people I've ever met. From the beginning, he was always upfront about expectations and walked us through everything clearly and honestly, which gave us so much peace of mind. I'll never forget the moments before my egg retrieval when I was really scared -- he calmly grounded me and made me feel completely safe. In one of the most vulnerable seasons of my life, he was a rock for us. Kathy, my patient nurse, was also amazing. She answered every anxious question with patience, laughed with me, supported me, and kept me hopeful throughout the process. I never once felt like just another patient. The Danbury office team is also so great. The front desk staff were always warm and welcoming, and the financial team was transparent every step of the way. Fertility treatment is deeply personal and at times overwhelming, but I felt genuinely cared for from start to finish. I am endlessly grateful to Dr. Hurwitz, Kathy, and the entire team. Would never go elsewhere.

Every visit felt like being herded in and out... no warmth, no personalization. From day one, my doctor came across as cold, dismissive, and uninterested. We didn't feel a connection with him at all, but because we were desperate and wanted a clinic closer to home, we decided to move forward. That was a mistake. Your doctor matters more than you think. I only saw my doctor 2x out of the several visits I had there. There was no consistency or continuity... just a new face every time, none of whom took the time to explain my results or what they were seeing. Nearly every appointment ended with a nurse saying, "Your doctor will reach out," but never did. The worst part? My doctor guessed my ovulation date, got it wrong, and completely missed it during my IUI cycle. This is something so critical, and it felt careless. A nurse even told us that, we wouldn't be charged, but we were, and the finance team and doctor refused to refund us. For something so emotional, vulnerable, and life-changing, I expected care or at the very least, attention. Instead, it felt transactional, cold, and disorganized. I've already switched clinics and the difference is night and day. I finally feel seen and supported by a doctor who actually cares. Please don't make the mistake we did. Your doctor matters. Feeling heard and cared for matters.
