I was incredibly fortunate to be referred to Illume and to Dr. Hurwitz specifically, and I truly cannot say enough positive things about my experience. Dr. Hurwitz is patient, incredibly kind, and one of the most knowledgeable people I've ever met. From the beginning, he was always upfront about expectations and walked us through everything clearly and honestly, which gave us so much peace of mind. I'll never forget the moments before my egg retrieval when I was really scared -- he calmly grounded me and made me feel completely safe. In one of the most vulnerable seasons of my life, he was a rock for us. Kathy, my patient nurse, was also amazing. She answered every anxious question with patience, laughed with me, supported me, and kept me hopeful throughout the process. I never once felt like just another patient. The Danbury office team is also so great. The front desk staff were always warm and welcoming, and the financial team was transparent every step of the way. Fertility treatment is deeply personal and at times overwhelming, but I felt genuinely cared for from start to finish. I am endlessly grateful to Dr. Hurwitz, Kathy, and the entire team. I really wanted to feel supported through this process, but instead I felt like I was just another number being rushed through a system. Every visit felt like being herded in and out... no warmth, no personalization. From day one, my doctor came across as cold, dismissive, and uninterested. We didn't feel a connection with him at all, but because we were desperate and wanted a clinic closer to home, we decided to move forward. That was a mistake. Your doctor matters more than you think. I only saw my doctor 2x out of the several visits I had there. There was no consistency or continuity... just a new face every time, none of whom took the time to explain my results or what they were seeing. Nearly every appointment ended with a nurse saying, "Your doctor will reach out," but never did. The worst part? My doctor guessed my ovulation date, got it wrong, and completely missed it during my IUI cycle. This is something so critical, and it felt careless. A nurse even told us that, we wouldn't be charged, but we were, and the finance team and doctor refused to refund us. For something so emotional, vulnerable, and life-changing, I expected care or at the very least, attention. Instead, it felt transactional, cold, and disorganized. I've already switched clinics and the difference is night and day. I finally feel seen and supported by a doctor who actually cares. Please don't make the mistake we did. Your doctor matters. Front desk is awful. We have had multiple issues getting a hold of someone to answer simple questions regarding our care. It is always painful. Our patient coordinator was on vacation every single week and there was never a backup to speak to. We had the same recurring issues for about 4 months before we switched services. You should not have to wait several days or weeks to get an answer on sometime as time sensitive at IVF. read more

Unfortunately I can not recommend this fertility place. Here's what I saw go wrong: - The patient care coordinator person can barely compose an email. Really poor writing skills and confusing to parse her instructions, especially for such a topic that requires intense attention to details! -Scheduling mistakes: I was scheduled for a procedure on the wrong day and it had to be repeated. -Billing mistakes: They then tried to bill me for the extra procedure, even when they told me they wouldn't. If you work with them and they do this, GET IT IN WRITING that they won't bill you for any extra service. (I don't recommend working with them though!) - The rotating doctors: you get a different doctor each time and it doesn't give you comfort about continuity of care or that they know what's going on with you or tracking you closely. This was the most important one - -Missed diagnosis: I had multiple ultrasounds and scans with them, like 5 or 6 in the course of my initial visits. Despite this, they missed a really key important diagnosis which would have prevented me from staying pregnant. When I visited another much more professional clinic, the doctor spotted this condition on the FIRST ultrasound and confirmed it (and showed it to me) on subsequent ultrasounds. If I had continued to be seen at Illume, my pregnancy would most likely not have gone well because of them missing this. It was CRAZY how different it was to go to world-class clinic after going to Illume- it made me realize that I had averted disaster by discontinuing with them. They just do not have their stuff together in the way that is needed for such an expensive, important, and sensitive process. I enjoyed working with my doctor and nursing team. I felt they were attentive and responsive to my needs. I did not appreciate working with the financial department. They were disorganized and often asked me to pay things in error or before submitting to my insurance. I had an insurance change before a procedure and despite having a letter from my new provider that the procedure would be paid for, I was asked to pay for half the cost of the procedure. I then had to call them two months later knowing that insurance had covered the procedure to beg for my money back. They stated that they weren't just going to send me back my money if I didn't ask for it. They then took more money from the reimbusement stating there were other claims that had recently been processed (still unclear what those were) but sent me a check and told me verbally that my balance was $0. 4 months later I started receiving bills again for the same procedure copays, which were already paid in full. I tried to explain this to the finance department but kept being told "don't worry it goes towards your deductible" which I had already met with the over 10k they kept out of pocket. I understand quality care is hard to find but I have never worked with a medical clinic who's financial organization and transparency are so poor. If you choose to work with them, keep very tight records of payments. read more

Full disclosure: RMACT & Dr. Leondires helped me realize my dream of being a father and worked with my surrogate to bring the ultimate gift of Cameron, who we call "Miracle of Midtown." I see some critical reviews of this fertility company and so I want to offer a counterpoint: literally *everybody* here was courteous, professional and attentive. Dr. L is extremely knowledgeable and personable, and always available for advice and help along the way. My surrogate was also *super* happy with RMACT and that made me very happy indeed. I read the couple of negative reviews on here and honestly thought "these people MUST have gone to another place and not RMACT!" My time has been AMAZING. Coming from Yale, which was a horrendous experience, RMACT has been a dream come true. My nurse is fantastic, both my husband and I love her and she is always very responsive, usually within the hour I have a reply back. The few times she has not been in and we have seen another nurse - they have all been very kind and compassionate. My husband even said recently they are almost "too friendly" which I would rather have than rude and callous. I have been truly impressed by the amount of contact and care my doctor has shown. If he calls and gets my voicemail, he will leave a message and then call back the next day to make sure I got the message and ask if I have any questions. He has always kept us well informed and explained everything to us in detail, and has been very forthright with his opinions but lets us make the final call on any options we may have. All of the doctors we have met have been very warm and caring. I really appreciate that we are always seen by a senior level physician rather than a situation like at Yale where they have rotating residents and interns that are still learning the practice. Their clinics are beautifully decorated and warm. The clinic we used before was depressing, severely run down and desperately needed an update. RMACT's offices are colorful and vibrant. On weekends they even supply breakfast treats like bagels at their Norwalk office. I would absolutely recommend RMACT to any of my friends or colleagues considering fertility treatments. read more

Im a new patient, I thought this process would take 2 months at most. Its about to be 4 months since I first had the consultation. I am a self pay patient and have paid about 14k so far and Im not entirely sure if Id recommend my family here ( I have a sister and 2 cousins ready to call Illume). I dont have infertility issues only Tibal Ligation so this should have been an easy process but, Ive had a few hiccups here and there with misinformation mainly because the nurses want to use a one size fits all protocol. Seeing their NP was a nightmare, she spent 40 min looking for my cervix and never found it! She tried to r/s for another visit as if my cervix would have moved! But Dr Murdock came in and found it after 2 mins! The medical assistants are amazing as is Dr Murdock and Dr Williams so I plan to stick through it and give them the benefit of doubt. I am however dissapointed in the timeline of things, Im now awaiting PGT results and then have to wait some more for an appt which is incredibly frustating. You wait for results and then wait again for a Dr to be available to discuss these results. In reality they should secure your FET start date while you wait. Ive called the lab and the results are scheduled to arrive Friday so why dont they proactively call and start the prep for FET? It seems they dont care about how long the whole process takes. My nurse has been changed on my request after the first nurse kept giving me misinformation abt when to start/stop birth control and eventually forgot I was even on it! She kept trying to make me wait cycle after cycle because there were no appointments available, as if im not approaching 40 and I have all the time in the world! The patient advocate initially ignored my emails and calls but is now readily available. Im sure Ill be waiting around some more until they find an appt for me and I have to remain on bc which apparently they dont care how long youre on it, but we will see how long it takes for the FET cycle to start and I will update as I go along. Ive always paid same day I received my invoices so I had hoped the turnaround time from them would be better but hopefully things work out and my family are also able to reach their family building goals with Illume pending my outcome! Dr Murdock is so amazing I could hang on just to see her! Dr Murdock and Dr Williams are worth the price tag! Will update as soon as I complete my journey! read more

I've never left a yelp review on anything in my entire life. But if writing a quick review helps one family make a decision about using RMA, then I've done my job. I had such a horrible experience with RMA that I'm switching to a new practice only 2 months in. No one at the clinic knows my name or bothers to ask. My own nurse that I was assigned and corresponded with repeatedly over phone and email has twice been in the exam room with me and never once bothered to introduce herself. I found out it was her because someone called her name down the hallway. I've had to advocate for myself from day one-- "why are you doing that", can you explain" etc. I had to request a scan after knowing something was wrong after my treatment (there was). The doctor and nurse in the room were so rude and made me feel so stupid for even asking questions. I see a different doctor each time. They are usually looking in my chart to see what I'm there for and it all seems like a scramble. As another reviewer mentioned, it feels like a cattle call and I have a number stamped on my back. Communication is poor between RMA and patient and between doctor and nurses. There was a complication with one of my procedures and the doctor I was assigned didn't bother to call and let me know. My nurse called to tell me and she didn't even have all the facts straight. It's just a mess there. read more

I've been impressed with the staff at this facility- from the person that answers the phone to the nurses and the financial people. This practice is extremely well run and I am not easily impressed. It's a big busy practice, but they don't treat you like just a number. Dr. Leondires is excellent. He is thorough, careful, intelligent and kind. I'm really happy to be working with him. In fact, every doctor Ive met through the monitoring process has been good. Smart, good doctors but also with a good bed side manner. Unlike other fertility practices I've experienced, they have lots of additional support services. Mental health, nutrition, etc. They treat the whole person, not just your malfunctioning ovaries! read more

I wanted to wait a significant amount of time to write this review. I wanted to make sure I had clarity of my situation before writing anything negative. It's been a year since i haven't worked with them and I still feel confident in telling people this is not a good place to go if you have fertility issues. I specifically dealt mostly with Norwalk and I was unimpressed. I should have left sooner than later, but you want to give these people the benefit of the doubt considering in my case, they were recommended by another Dr. I'll start with the nurses. They are rude, impatient and know nothing about a proper work ethic. That's one of the issues of being tossed around from Dr to Dr and nurse to nurse. Communication is AWFUL: Information gets left out. Follow through is horrible and they have absolutely no common sense when comes to any comprehension of how emotional this experience is for everyone who walks in that door. I want competence and understanding of the physical situation that i am dealing with but i also expect a decent bedside manner. I saw none of this. Whether it was on the phone, via email or during an ultra sound. If you are looking for the support of one Dr, this is not the place for you. I had a very difficult time with being tossed around from Dr to Dr (Dr Leondires was the ABSOLUTE exception) I did not know from the get go that the Dr we had chosen/been recommended would never be available in the office that was most convenient for us, nor did I expect that getting a hold of him would also be so difficult. In the case of RMA i wouldn't get the proper responses from the nurses so i TRULY valued my Dr's opinion. The problem is i never got it easily. I realize we could have gone elsewhere, but as anyone who is going through this understands, you choose to give it a shot bc you hope that initially, while communication may be lacking, etc...you assume these are the best Drs at what they do and so you tolerate everything else in the hope that the outcome is a success. My other concern with RMACT is that i consistently went through the same failures and nobody seemed to have any recommendations as to how to go forward. I was going through the same motions/protocol etc.. It was only in my last attempt that an additional test was performed to address concerns about there being no critical issues with my uterine cavity. that should have been immediate. The final straw was after I was given a result of being pregnant, about 6 weeks in (i believe), I wasn't feeling well. My dr told me I could continue to go into the office every few days with NO issue to get my blood work done to continue seeing that my HCG levels were increasing steadily. All i had to do was let the nurse know i was coming in. When i did that at the beginning of the week before my first ultrasound after pregnancy, the nurse told me i could not come in bc there were too many other women who needed blood-work also and it would cost extra money for me to come in, therefore i would have to wait until the end of the week, the day of the ultrasound. Needless to say, my feeling was correct and there was no heartbeat. The Drs response verbatim after giving myself and my husband the news, "You just have really crappy eggs. Sorry" forgetting the heartache of trying after all these years, for the Dr to say those words to me was beyond disgusting. Disheartened and appalled we finally decided to leave RMACT. The nurse and I had a lovely email communication before i left after i shared with her that I really didn't feel comfortable at the practice anymore and coming in was starting to make me feel like i was on a cattle call and basically i was just another women walking in the door with no name, feelings, etc... She was very upset with what i said and lashed out to me in response. i would have hoped she could have been just a little bit understanding. Apparently not. I hope you found this review helpful. I know there have been successes, otherwise they wouldn't be in business, but I hope my mistakes may help others if they are unsure, go elsewhere. your first instinct is most likely, right on target. read more

Worst experience with billing office ever in my life. The doctors, nurses and support staff I encountered through years were wonderful, caring and helpful. However, once the billing office got involved after several mistakes billing my insurance all hell broke loose and none of the nurses, doctors, desk or office staff were willing or able to help-- they make the billing office seem like it's not part of RMA. In all, I have missed days of work, spent hours and hours on the phone between insurance and billing only to be told that I need to reduce stress over this because it harms fertility. Most recently, I was told on the phone w/Blue Cross and a representative from RMA that my claims needed to be audited because they didn't process correctly. I assumed RMA would stop harassing me while the insurance company was performing this review, but just today I received a letter saying RMA was pursuing collections against me for this relatively small bill (insane compared to the amount we have paid them over the years). Unbelievable. I would not advise any women who are struggling with infertility to go to RMACT. read more

My experience here was not the best. It started off fine. The nurses and people that took my blood were very sweet, but I had a problem with the doctor and social worker. I felt extremely judged by both. The doctor wasn't as bad, still judgmental with certain things, but the social worker was another story. I felt that it was a very unwelcoming environment. I felt like I was being interrogated by a police officer and right after the interview I was going to be arrested. She gave me a weird vibe even before the interview started and while talking to her she just gave me weird looks as well as twisting my words around. There was no human emotion behind her. If you're coming here and need to speak to the social worker for whatever reason try not to get Lisa. I don't normally like to complain and I understand that these people were just trying to do their job, but it was not a welcoming, warm environment. read more

My husband and I came to RMA CT broken, nervous and scared. We were dealing with severe MFI and our only option at biological children was IVF with ICSI. After two failed attempts at our NYC clinic, we had uprooted our lives and moved to CT. We headed to RMA CT for a fresh start. From the moment we walked through the doors of the Norwalk office, we felt comforted, valued and in good care. Dr. Murdock was the first to meet with us. She walked us through our options, validated our concerns, listened to our ideas and offered us more hope than we had in months. Absolutely everyone on staff at RMA CT is there to help, from the front desk, medical assistants, financial coordinators, patient navigators, nurses, doctors, nutritionists, acupuncturists...even the woman who coordinated our transfer of our frozen specimens from New York to CT...everyone was on our team and fully dedicated to helping each and every patient transition to parents. We are so grateful that our first attempt with RMA CT was successful and that I am able to type this recommendation 16 weeks pregnant with our first scientific miracle...We can't wait to introduce you all to our precious daughter in June and we will definitely be back when it is time for a try at baby #2! read more
