Big Nightmare!!!!!!!Worst experience we have ever had with a custom auto shop. BUYERS BEWARE!…read more We brought our brand-new truck to JRod Auto Body and Resto for custom work in November. One of the first red flags was being required to pay more than half upfront for parts, paint, and tires before the work was completed. We initially received some parts, but in December we were asked to pay the remaining balance even though other parts had still not arrived. We were repeatedly told that the wrong parts were being shipped and sent back. The response we consistently heard was, "I don't make the parts." After approximately six months of delays and ongoing issues, we requested a refund and were told their vendor would not refund them, leaving us with no resolution despite having already paid in advance. One of the most serious issues involved a tire swap. We brought the truck in with brand-new tires, but after the swap the truck began shaking violently. I immediately took it to the dealership where the truck was purchased, and I was informed the tires installed on the vehicle were dry-rotted and heavily patched. For safety reasons, I had to replace all four tires at my own expense. When I requested reimbursement, it was refused. We also began noticing paint peeling on the body, wheels, hood, and rear of the truck shortly after bringing it home. Another reputable auto body shop inspected the vehicle and informed us that an excessively thick clear coat had been applied, causing orange peel texture, bubbling, and peeling throughout the vehicle. In addition, several original parts from our truck are now missing. We had to go to the dealership ourselves to obtain estimates for replacement parts and labor to correct the issues. Attempting to resolve this situation directly was extremely frustrating and unproductive. We never got a refund or even an apology for all that we have been through. Once they have your money, they will not pick up your phone calls and if you go to the shop they will be very rude and upset and give you the same answer about the famous quote from Milly, " I don't make the parts"! Overall, we are deeply disappointed with the workmanship, communication, and professionalism we experienced. If you choose to use this shop, be cautious about paying large amounts upfront before work is completed and documented. We regret ever bringing our truck there. See photos below! I brought my daughter's vehicle in after a rear-end accident. When I returned for the first pickup on November 12th, I discovered new damage on the car that was not present at drop-off, which I documented with timestamped photos. When I pointed this out, the manager (Tim) initially denied it until the photos were shown. During that same first pickup, I identified multiple paint defects on the bumper. Instead of addressing them, Tim became combative and stated that I was the one who had damaged the bumper--something that was not true and did not match the condition of the car shown in my photos from drop-off. This was extremely concerning and added to the growing trust issues I was experiencing. I later withdrew repair authorization due to the new damage and the accusation, but the shop continued working on the vehicle anyway. During the second pickup attempt, the situation escalated. My daughter and wife were inspecting the car when additional issues were found, including paint defects, misalignment, and a missing underbody cover plate that had not been reinstalled. Despite these issues, we were told to take the car as-is. A staff member then made a false accusation that my minor daughter had chipped paint from the bumper--something disproven by timestamped photos and video taken before the vehicle was touched. The interaction also included hostile comments, which were captured on video. The next day, we took the vehicle to Maurice's Auto Body, who documented and confirmed every defect, including the missing underbody panel and the new damage created at Douglas. They completed the repairs properly, and Douglas ultimately paid them for part of the corrective work. My experience reflected: * new damage created during the repair process, * refusal to correct visible defects, * an accusation that I damaged the bumper during the first pickup, * unauthorized continuation of repairs after I withdrew approval, * false accusations toward both me and my daughter, * and unprofessional, hostile conduct. Based on what we documented and what an independent shop confirmed, I cannot recommend Douglas Collision Center.
