We love Dr Barrett!…read more We saw her at Honolulu pet clinic and now she has her own practice just a few mins over to where she originally was. At the time we visited her for general things + acupuncture for my dog Nala. She was always calm and gentle with her which is so appreciated because she is a little spicy one (or can be) We even had her for Nala's end of life - she knew I didn't want to give up if I'm able to save her and she allowed us to come back and make my decisions after leaving VERC.

Her focus is squarely on providing a safe and relaxing atmosphere for the animals she treats. My beloved pup Bailey is 10 and I wanted to get a few things checked and have a baseline as she ages. I have so much information, test are being done and I have a several referrals to "regular" vets to support in back up care. I had such a great vet in CA that I was panicking when I moved. My vet there assured me, I could always call her. I am so grateful to have found Dr Barrett and am assured my pup will receive the best of both worlds for her health. Mahalo Dr Barrett

The staff and Vet Techs are always friendly and professional and my pups love them all. We used to live closer to this location but have sinced moved further away, but because I trust the vets and the staff here and am comfortable with them and the pups are comfortable with them, I will drive the extra 15 minutes to get to them whenever we need to visit the vet. Very frustrating experience at Vetco Pet Clinic. My appointment was scheduled for 12:30 PM, but Dr…read more Wallace was almost an hour late. She prescribed Albon 500 mg for my dog for 10 days, but the clinic gave me only 13 pills when the dosage instructions clearly required 23.5 pills. On top of that, they charged me almost $50, which is extremely overpriced. I emailed Dr. Wallace about the shortage and never got any response. Then I came back on Saturday, since I work during normal business hours, and the clinic was closed even though Google Maps and Vetco still showed they were open. Very disappointing experience overall.

After everything I went through trying to obtain an international health certificate for my dog,…read moreSpeedy, I feel very strongly about recommending Animal Clinic of Honolulu. In my experience, this was the only clinic in Hawaiʻi I found that truly knew how to handle the international health-certificate process correctly, efficiently, and quickly. They understood the requirements, communicated clearly, and helped move everything forward at a reasonable price. Before coming here, I had a very difficult experience elsewhere involving delays, mistakes, confusing communication, and charges that were not clearly explained to me. Those problems contributed to major disruption of my international travel and caused tremendous stress. I would not want another pet owner to go through what I experienced. Animal Clinic of Honolulu was completely different. The staff treated me and Speedy with patience, professionalism, kindness, and respect. They listened, explained things clearly, and made me feel that Speedy was genuinely cared for. I have also been back for other visits, and every experience has been wonderful. I am genuinely so happy that I found a veterinary clinic where I can feel confident that Speedy is in good hands. That peace of mind means everything to me. Because of the way they have treated Speedy and handled his care, I would trust this clinic not only for international travel certificates, but also for regular checkups, vaccinations, diagnostic care, dental care, procedures, surgery, and other veterinary needs. If you need an international health certificate for a pet or service dog, I highly recommend contacting Animal Clinic of Honolulu first. Save yourself unnecessary stress, delays, and expense. I truly wish I had found them from the beginning. Five stars from me and Speedy. I am very grateful to have found a veterinary clinic I can trust."

The clinic is open 6 days out of 7 (closed Sundays), is conveniently located on Koko Head Ave., not far from Kaimuki Library, has dedicated parking, is clean, and the staff friendly and efficient. We've seen three of the vets on staff: Dr. Leara, Dr. Kunimoto, and Dr. Ogasawara, and they and their vet techs have been extremely gentle, kind, and professional in caring for our cat. They're great about communicating what vaccinations and services are needed and up front about costs. When our cat was injured, Dr. Leara called up to check on how she was doing. The clinic offers boarding services. This past spring, our cat stayed there for 10 days, and the staff sent us occasional updates and pics as to how our kitty was doing: a major relief to know she was in good hands! If you use the clinic's PetDesk app, you can set up appointments, see what's needed for your pet's upcoming visits, contact the staff, and order food and meds, if you wish. Warmly recommended!

I'll always be grateful for this clinic. I was in a panic as my puppy had a severe allergy where…read moreshe woke up with her eyes swollen shut. In addition she was having diarrhea and it was driving me crazy as she had it all over her pen and in our house. I called this clinic as my original vet (Aloha Affordable in Aiea) but they couldn't take her on such short notice. I called Manoa Valley clinic and they said they could take my puppy in 30 minutes. Dr Ashley is professional, she genuinely cares about your pet. She gave my puppy an allergy shot in her back and put her on a bland diet. They tested her stool for parasites. I was sent home with prescribed science diet canned food, and probiotics. I was worried that I'd get a huge bill, but thankfully it was reasonable, a little over $300. Her eyes got better and her diarrhea subsided. I really loved the vet tech, she played with her in the room, the entire time. I cannot remember her name, but she was young, hapa and had really long hair. When my puppy had diarrhea on the floor the tech refused to let me clean it even though I firmly offered. Dr Ashley and her make a great team as they are both patient, with an empathetic bedside manner. They take their time in talking with you and answering all of your questions. You don't feel rushed out or that they just want to charge you to make money. This location is very convenient and it's easy to get an appointment. It isn't cheap but I believe it is worth the money being that Manoa is quite pricey.

Prior to Dr. Kondo, we had seen 3 other vets and none of them could provide explanations, alternatives, and reassurance that I needed as a first time dog owner. Upon seeing Dr. Kondo, he explained what was going on and gave me alternatives, which included short-term solutions. In the end we opted to do surgery on Kuri's eye and he did a great job!!! My first impression of Dr. Kondo, and it still holds true until today is that I find him to be a very compassionate and knowledgeable doctor. His staff are equally caring and open to share the knowledge they have. For anyone who is looking for an integrative medicine practice for their four legged family…read moremembers, I strongly recommend KAI Animal Institute. They were referred to us by our vet at VCA Kaneohe to treat our dog's degenerative disease that impacted her spinal cord, affecting her back legs and ability to walk. She had been going for laser therapy treatment at VCA for pain which was initially working, then her vet recommended Dr. Gregg Levine and KAI Animal Institute as an integrative and complementary mode of treatment for pain management of her spinal cord disease. We're so glad her vet recommended KAI Animal Institute. In our first communication with Dr. Levine, he went over our dog's history over the phone, and went over various modes of treatment he could offer to relieve our dog's pain. We then setup a treatment session at his healing studio for him to assess our dog's health and recommend the most appropriate course of treatment. Stepping into KAI Animal Institute's studio, we were greeted with a calming and healing oasis that was thoughtfully designed for animals where Dr. Levine used various treatments like low level light laser therapy, rehab therapy, targeted pulse electromagnetic field therapy, and acupuncture for our dog's pain. In addition, his wife, Julie, an animal behaviorist, performed harmonic therapy for our dog during the treatment which used sound healing powers to further help calm and treat our dog in addition to the acupuncture, etc. Soothing music was played in the background during the treatment session which helped even my husband and I to relax. During and after each session, we could see a change in our dog's behavior and demeanor. She would smile and be so happy, excited to go to KAI Animal Institute's healing oasis and see Dr. Levine and Julie because she knew they would help her feel better. She was able to stand for brief periods with assistance and continually kept trying to use her back legs on her own. Mahalo Nui Loa Dr. Levine and Julie for providing such kind, compassionate, and caring treatments to our dog to help her with pain management. We are so thankful, grateful and blessed to have met Dr. Levine and Julie and can't recommend them enough for complementary care for animals dealing with pain or recovering from an injury or surgery.

His holistic approach to addressing whatever issue the dog is presenting that day and using the full range of therapies to treat them instead of having to pick from an ala carte menu like other places has been amazing. From acupuncture, to cold laser therapy, and even fun physical games that get the dog to strengthen the right muscles. Even a stroll along the beach was integrated to help heal the mind and body. Being a part of the therapy myself as opposed to just waiting outside a clinic has strengthened the bond and trust between my dog and myself. She has learned new tricks, even at the age of 13, that have enriched her life and our relationship. We started with him to just address a back leg injury Keira had suffered, but have since expanded to help Keira heal and hold off the bits of aging her body has begun to show. I am beyond pleased with the results and use the therapy and training techniques Dr. Levine taught us daily to continue my dog's healing and progress. As you can see in the last photo, Keira is a very happy customer at the end of every session! I can't recommend Kai Animal Institute enough!
