Since the departure of professional theatre in Spokane, there is little doubt that "The Civic"…read morerules the roost. Most community theatre productions I have seen are geared towards family and friends of the performers with a mix of talented thespians and enthusiastic, if weaker, performers doing what they love. The Civic does not fall into this mold. Without a doubt, this is community theatre of the highest quality. Boasting two stages: a large traditional "main stage" and a "black box" theatre downstairs, Spokane Civic Theatre produces a mix of traditional productions such as "Hello Dolly" or "White Christmas" to offbeat shows such as "Rocky Horror Show" or "Putnam County." Bottom line: Don't miss the chance to see top notch theatre in Downtown Spokane!

The theatre itself is beautiful and the modest size creates a very intimate atmosphere with each production. Ticket prices are very reasonable. You seriously can't beat the view from the audience the ticket cost and the superb skills of the actors. I just saw the current production of Les Miserables and let me just say....it is PHENOMENAL. I've seen the show on Broadway and in San Fransisco and I think this production rivals those. Kudos to the board for bringing on a great director and music director for this musical and to the men and women of Spokane (and surrounding areas) for sharing their gifted voices with us.
