What's supposed to be half cheese/half sausage and mushrooms.
Rick B.

This place used to be good, maybe 10 or 12 years ago. I moved from EHT to Absecon several months ago, having lived here previously. There are several restaurants I used to like that have let me down and Joe and John's has done it several times now. I know, if they let me down once, why go back? We'll, anyone can have a bad day, so I'm one to give a second chance. First time we ordered delivery when we moved back the food was good, but then it went downhill. Chicken parmigiana that was like rubber, in the trash. Chicken Michelangelo...like leather, in the trash. Forgot to deliver the Cannolis!!! And this evening, pizza delivered that was supposed to be half cheese, have sausage and mushrooms that looked like a lava flow. Not one slice of the pizza could've been called "plain cheese". Don't waste your money.

"Broccoli rape" lol

A small group met up after church today. We had great service from Katie and Kalee. They were friendly, kind and professional.

I got a Sicilian pie. The pizza isn't that great. The cheese is not a good quality and the sauce lacks any flavor.

Great service but poor quality luncheon meats. There was hardened fat in the meat on the Italian it was almost like cartilage.

My friends and I visited for their first Girl Dinner night where they had a book mobile called…read moreAusten's Shelf in the parking lot which was the main reason for our visit. When it was first advertised on Instagram, my friend made a reservation. However, when we arrived the staff were confused and overwhelmed by the big turnout and made no effort to assist us promptly. They sat us inside since the patio tables were already taken, and we waited 15-20 minutes for someone to take our order. The ambiance was casual and the noise level was very loud. They have a bar on the main level and the place just looks like a casual pizza joint. The patio seats looked more appealing and I found out after we left that they were doing a giveaway which we weren't included in. The girl dinner menu options were very basic with no meat or seafood options. I probably should've ordered off of the regular menu. I started out with an espresso martini which was okay, not the best and not the worst. Next I had a Caesar salad that was drowning in dressing that was too creamy and rich for me. The cheese pizza had a nice dough but the marinara and cheese were below average. I've had better pizza from a gas station, but I was starving since I'd already been there for 45 minutes. My friend only ate one slice of hers. I suppose we got what we paid for since it was only $25 per person. By the time we got our checks and were ready to go check out the book store, there were very few options left. If it weren't for the great company and the chance to check out Austen's Shelf, this night would've been very disappointing.

Something is different? We came in through the front door with the hostess station…read more What's up with the unpainted drywall? Where are the cool old pictures, thank-you letters, and awards? Anyway we were seated right away, but waited five minutes before anyone came over. The table was sticky, the server was OK but wasn't really friendly until the bill came out. And the food was OK. This time my review is meh

Wonderful happy hour into dinner The hostess greeted me , as…read moreif I was family, which is what I'm also missing as much as food when I'm hungry; I happened to sense the energy was at the bar , and was immediately seated there & served quickly; tasty selection which I devoured while cordially greeting the folks to my right & left, who were both two seats away, but very pleasant ; Meatballs , grandma's, I think , evenly, cooked & tasty as a culture & protein jolt ; the red snapper special written on the skateboard by the door was cooked & served , which I'm eating the left-overs from while writing this review, prepared coked simply, still juicy, exactly the way I asked for it ; I was happy to add sparkling water sitting at the bar, which is not my usual choice, but it turned out a fine one at Romanelli's Garden Cafe, which I see on my phone are related to another Romanelli's and Zorro's in Ventnor !

Booming Shrimp app was great. Short rib poutine was ok, but…read morepoutine needs "squeaky" cheese curds, this dish didn't have those. Main courses of fish and chips, chicken parm were good. Chicken francaise was ok, good lemon, but kinda sweet. Wait staff was attentive, but What was disappointing surprise was we were seated at 4pm, and early bird is 3 to 5. Chicken francaise was listed as an early bird choice. However we ordered 2 of those and both were charged full price at end of meal. When I asked if we ordered too late for the cheaper early bird price the waitress said "you didn't say the words 'early bird special' when you ordered" so you oay full price. Very surprised at lack of customer centric manner.. either ask the customer during order process since YOU know there are 2 prices possible, or assume if someone orders something on the early bird list, they want that price...... Net: future customers beware of that trick.... not sure I will ever go back.

I'm not sure if the man helping us was the owner or the manager, but you don't see that often. I love seeing someone in a higher position stepping in and helping out with customers. I honestly think that made the experience even better. And the food was definitely worth it! The pizza was amazing. We got a pizza, mild buffalo wings, and Bufalina coal-fired pizza, along with refillable drinks (seltzer and lemonade). The total was around $60, and I left a $20 tip. So in total $80-$90. The wings were nice and crunchy, which I really LOVE, and everything we ordered was delicious. I really enjoyed the whole experience! Btw there parking around the restaurant. It could fit about 15-20 cars and inside there is two sections to sit. If you want a little taste of NYC pizza or italy i highly recommend this place. Highly recommend if you're around the Egg Harbor or Atlantic City area!
