Somehow, that turned into a root canal, a crown, and a dental journey I never signed up for! After my experience with the first dentist, I knew one thing for certain: I was NEVER going back there again! Not for a root canal, not for a crown, not even for a free toothbrush! Thankfully, the VA Community Care team referred me to Apex Endodontics in Colorado Springs, where I received my root canal. After that, I was referred to Twin Aspen Dental Center for my crown. From my very first visit, the experience was wonderful. The receptionists were friendly, offered me water, and had me seated and called back within about five minutes. Safarmoh greeted me, listened to my story, took my X-rays, and made me feel comfortable. She even taught me something new about my own mouth--I apparently have extra bone in there! Who knew?! Then I met Dr. Lindsey Dortch, who examined me, explained the procedure, and submitted everything needed for my crown. Fast-forward to today: CROWN DAY! And let me tell you... NIGHT AND DAY compared to my previous experience. ZERO PAIN! Not even the numbing injection hurt! Dr. Dortch was gentle, professional, and made the entire procedure comfortable. While my crown was being made, I got a break, and Safarmoh came in to check on me. Somehow, we ended up having our own little comedy show! It's wonderful when healthcare professionals can make you laugh, especially after you've had such a difficult experience elsewhere. Dr. Dortch returned, made sure my crown fit properly, and I was on my way! The entire team treated me with kindness, patience, and professionalism. I never felt rushed, dismissed, or uncomfortable. In December, my appointment was rescheduled due to staffing issues. I showed up for the rescheduled appointment in January, only to be informed that it had been canceled--again, because they were short-staffed. To make matters worse, I never received a notification about the cancellation. When I pointed out to the front desk that this was the second time my appointment had been canceled without notice, I was met with indifference. I later called and spoke to the manager, who seemed more concerned with figuring out whether they attempted to contact me (she confirmed they didn't) than addressing the issues. To their credit, they did offer to bump someone else to get me in...but passing the headache and heartache on to someone else didn't sit right with me (maybe that's how my appointments got canceled).
