I have had beautiful extensions and color for the last 9 years from my fabulous stylist in Seatlle, Kelly Wisniewski. Look up her profile and reviews on yelp and you will see the incredible versatile stylist I am use to. Since we recently moved to Lawrence I have tried two salons to color my roots under my extensions.
I found "Ashley" at Joda & Friends and was told that she is an "extension specialist". I explained to Ashley that I had also tried the Aveda Salon on Wakarusa to have my hair colored but that the stylist did not color my dark roots.
I need to insert that at least when I called back to the Aveda Salon, they were very kind and immediately asked if they could recolor my hair for me. I did go back and again, she did not get my roots colored. I did not want to hurt her feelings and since she tried, I just walked away and tried another salon.
The way I was treated at Joda & Friends cannot compare to any experience that I have ever been through within the service industry.. I called back a week later and literally left 4 messages before speaking with Ashley again, who is one of the new owners of Joda & Friends. I was always polite and kind, and extremely patient after leaving messages saying that I would like to have my hair recolored because my roots were still dark.
When I spoke with Ashley I told her that I hoped she would not be offended if I asked her to talk with my stylist in Seattle to see if she could get any information about how Kelly colored my roots with my extensions in. Kelly did talk to Ashley and told her that it will not hurt my bonds or extensions if a little bleach got on them, she has been doing my hair for 9 years so I thought Ashley would take her advice and if she was afraid then would have me sign a waiver.
Ashley told me that she would NOT recolor my hair and that she was not comfortable because my extensions are a "different brand" than the ones that she was trained on. Why didn't she say any of this before she charged me $70 and did not complete the service? She did not offer me a waiver, if liability was her worry, she just flat out refused to redo the work that she told me she could do.
I said to her,"so what you are telling me is that if someone comes to you for a new set of extensions, that you cannot also color their hair? That is what you are saying?" Ashley replied, "Yes".
I was so upset that I simply said thank you and goodbye without mentioning my refund. The next day, I phoned the salon and asked the receptionist how late they would be open so that I could come in and get my $70 refund. She called back and said that she talked to Ashley and that Ashley will NOT refund my money.
I cannot understand why someone who just bought this salon with her parents would risk her salons reputation over $70. My stylist in Seattle had so many people referred to her because of my gorgeous hair, strangers would literally stop me in the street to ask who does my hair.
I have never left a poor review for anyone, as I am a positive person. At this point, I am POSITIVE that I do not want anyone else to lose their money or be treated like I was. What happened to customer service and treating people like you would like to be treated? read more
