She was very patient and really quite funny during the waxing treatment and assured me of her qualifications as a beautician and the fact that she found it annoying that other people got away without having them. They have separate rooms at the back which are clean and comfortable. Going to her was about ten dollars cheaper than what I usually pay at another place when I happen to be at Hurstville - and she did a much better job in my opinion. Apart from being counterproductive, I really do want to say that the prices here are much cheaper than some of the other local parlours I've been to and that Lyn (I think her name is) and her business have been there for many, many years - so she has the experience to back her up...and all the customers she needs, thank you. In all honesty, Lyn cares about her business, and so she cares about keeping her clients happy. However, it's always best to book in an appointment as it is quite a small business (usually there are no more than two women working at a time), and it is difficult to pinpoint when the parlour is at its busiest. It's a comfortable little place, and one I and a few of my friends keep returning to. It's not a business that parades itself for being the best of the best, and for me, this is what I look for when I go to make myself pretty again. But more importantly, that's exactly how you feel when you leave.

They have a special half priced waxing on every Tuesday, which is a major attraction for me other than the hygiene. Another plus point about it is that its open until 7pm unlike other parlours which shut down at 5pm. Thus, it is also very convenient for ladies who are working and cannot take out time during the day. Other than the regular services they provide body massages and body piercing at a fair price. There are quite a lot of beauty salons in Hurstville Westfield that Carmen's has to compete with, but it is only one I go to inside the Hurstville arcade (which is pretty handy if you don't have a booking and just want to walk in). Comparatively, the prices are a little cheaper than inside the shopping centre (but not by much!) and they cover a whole range of treatments including microdermabrasion, semi-permanent eyelashes, spray tanning, laser and the usual waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures and spa therapy. All in all, it's a decent all-rounder.

It's also taken me a year to grow my brows back from patchy straight lines. I was drawn in by the lower prices but so wasn't worth it for rushed, lack of knowledge service and ruined eyebrows/nails. I was so excited to get my first pair of eyelash extensions for a holiday only to be roped in to getting a lash lift because my eyelashes were too flat then only to find out later you should never attach eyelash extension to a lift as when your lash being to drop the extension pulls away from the lash, though I never found out about that first hand because my extensions fell out after two days! Devasted. I also visited the salon to get my SNS soaked off only to be tortured with the pain of getting them individually ripped off with nail clippers. Well I could of done that, another 5 months of growing back healthy nails. Don't go here unless you want to be ripped off with unnecessary treatments by an unqualified beautician, pretty sure the owner is the only one qualified and she then trains the other girls.
