The first time I got a lady who wouldn't listen to me and barely spoke English, but the haircut was okay and it was cheap enough so I thought I might go there again for a simple trim. The guy I got the second time was terrible, he listened to me for two seconds and asked how much I wanted off the ends and I said I just wanted it an inch shorter to cut off the split ends, he nodded and got cutting without even wetting my hair to make sure the cut was even, he also cut my fringe and it was terrible. He used thinning scissors to do the entire haircut and didn't even take the time to check if the haircut was even. I ended up with a fringe that was way too short and thinned out and now it looks really straggly and jagged, a chunk of my hair was way shorter than the rest and it is 5 inches shorter than I asked for. I am so unhappy and my long hair is gone, and he even had the audacity to ask if it was short enough, my hair is ruined and I can't even go to another hair salon to get it fixed until it grows back. Terrible experience!

That's when you need a bit of lift... perhaps shopping or something else that's going to make you feel good. I was having one of those days and I just went to "Just cuts" which is right below where I live in the Rockdale Plaza. I wasn't expecting much and I just waited for my turn. I met Brooke who just asked me what I wanted to do and perhaps she guessed that I didn't really know. She just did a bit of her stuff. A little snip of scissors here and there, didn't take her long maybe 8-10 minutes and there I was all done. I felt really good and she was just amazing. Very friendly and made me feel really good about myself. And all the other girls were complimenting me on how I looked. That's why I thought of writing this review as it's just an ordinary place which made me feel extra ordinary. I know I sound like a kid ..but that's how I felt.

She said there was no problem with helping me, and she put me with Maria. Maria was lovely, she really knew what she was doing, giving me a half head of foils and a free treatment at the request of the manager as I was so upset about my distaster! I was quite surprised the first time I went there when I noticed how fluently they spoke to each other in her language because the husband looked European and the wife was Asian. In any case, I thought it was adorable and that it made them an even better team. They work really well with long hair, especially when it comes to layering and fringes. To top it all off, they don't charge ridiculous prices of a salon, since it's more like a local hairdresser.

I went for a quick cut recently, Friday at about 1pm and it was relatively quiet, I was able to get my hair cut immediately. However, over the years this place has been incredibly busy all day Saturday & Sundays and throughout school holidays. There were days where a haircut set you back about $10 but I believe it has pushed up now to around the $15 mark, much like everything else in Sydney. However, they always do a great job and are always very chatty & welcoming. I always get a great hair cut with those guys and it never takes more than 10/15 minutes. Plenty of parking throughout Hurstville Shopping centre so even at the busiest of times you shouldn't be more than a 5/10 minute walk from the shop. It is located on Forest road up towards the Metro Bus Terminals, so pretty convenient location just outside the shopping centre. Very professional & friendly hairdresser that has stood the test of time in Hurstville. Even though it has changed hands, the quality service, friendly staff & value for money continues to live on - go and check it out if you are in between haircuts & are considering a new hairdresser!
