Great fades and friendly service ! I don't think ive ever had to wait more than 15 minutes for my turn either !

No posted prices. Doesn't understand English much. Lame performance. Doesn't listen or do as she says. Etc. read more

I've been going to Joanne's for a long time, back when she had hired a second barber. Joanne is always super friendly and gives a great cut. I love the location, easy in and out. She's right next to my favorite Chinese food in town. Looks like a new dentist office is popping up across the street and a new pasta place around the corner, but through all the change in Carmichael Joanne has been consistent for me. Thank you for the Great Haircuts, big smiles every time I walk in and our conversations. You always ask about my daughter, a big plus for me! read more

Joanne takes the time to do things right. No frills spot and not winning style points for decor. But the quality of the old school workmanship without the hype speaks for itself. Walked out of the shop feeling good about myself and my hair. read more

After reading all the great reviews, I went there for the first time a few days ago. It was a weekday and I arrived around 6:05. I had only paid attention to the hours listed on Yelp (closing at 6:30PM). I first walked in and there was only one customer on the chair. I thought to myself "ok, I'll be next..." They both saw me come in and sit briefly. The lady even said hi to me. I went out and stood outside the door. She could clearly see me. Around 6:15, the customer comes out and as I am about to go in, she literally closes the door on my face!! The guy who was coming out felt bad I guess and he said she closes at 6PM (not at 6:30 as listed on Yelp). It's only then that I realized the hours listed on the door! Needless to say, it wasn't a good first impression for me. I drove 15 min. to get there through the back roads - mainly because of the good reviews and thinking I'd have found a long term barber. Why could she not have told me when I went in at 6:05 that they were closed?!! Why could she not express any regret for not being able to take me in when closing the door after the last customer?!!! While she might be deserving of the great reviews for her hair cutting, there's def. room for improvement in mannerisms and courtesy! read more

I love places like this barbershop where you really get the one on one care about your hair with the old school experience that is not trying to put their signature on it like the new/younger stylists. I travel a lot and almost never use the same barber each cut. I showed her a favorite picture from a very costly place and she matched it! I couldn't let her charge me as little as she did for her excellent work, indeed a large tip doesn't show my entire gratitude for such a great job!!! Don't let shop appearances fool you, there is much pride in their product!!! read more

Joanne is great, her price is very low and she deserves a very good tip! Her Barber Shop survived Covid and it wasn't easy. I missed being able to go to her for her great hair cuts. I highly recommend Joanne's Barber Shop! read more

The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is b/c Joanne doesn't do "fast" cuts. She took nearly 15-20 mins on mine and I get a #5 on top and # 1/2 on the sides!!! Even though they are asian barbers, they cut hair just like mexican barbers. She used 3 diff clips in order to give me my fade. She really did a good job, I am impressed. She is the best barber I ever had in my life. What was even more cool was that she has a great sense of humor. She will talk shit so you better not be sensitive about your feelings. The other woman, the "bosslady" seems like she does a good job cutting hair too. They even cut black people's hair - just thought I'd throw that out there. I finally found a barber somewhat near where I live that I will be going to for a lifetime. And yes, they charge $9 instead of $8, but that's really cheap. read more

Joanne’s Barber Shop - Joanne's Barber in Carmichael. I took this with my cell phone. The haircuts are actually $9, not $8 as of 9/18/09 - Barbers Near Me - Carmichael, California

So I feel conflicted about giving a review on my go to haircut place because I want to keep her to myself lol Joanne is amazing. No frills gets to the point and THE best 10$ haircut you will ever get. She makes sure to take her time and listen to what you would like. She takes cash only so do not waste her time! And be patient, from what I can see its just her. Enjoy! read more

Believe the hype!! A great cut at a ridiculous price ($7). I was in town for the weekend from Seattle and needed a quick trim. This place was half the price of my normal haircut back home and they hook it up with a nice massage at the end. Thanks Joanne! read more

Hi Joanne, Thank you for the very nice haircut this week. You are an excellent barber and count me as a new customer. Located on Fair Oaks in Carmichel this very reasonably priced barber is open long hours and takes walk-ins. $10 for a men's haircut is unheard of these days. Comfortable waiting area and plenty of parking. So happy to have another barber between my office and my home. Thank you Joanne. See you in a couple weeks. :) read more

I've been going to Joanne for all of my haircuts for the last year or so and I've never had a bad experience. This is in contrast to a nearby barber whose electric razor scratched my neck up. But Joanne's always given me a good haircut, and no scratches here, so give stars! Only issue is that since it's a single-person shop, it's kind of hit or miss whether or not there will be a line. Fortunately I'm a five minute walk away so I can always go home and come back. read more

Best haircut ever. I'll never go anywhere else. Her prices are very humble. Tippage is 100%. I've spent more and not been happy with the results. Joanne does a great job and should charge more. read more

I used to travel 25 miles out of my way to get my hair cut. Finally, I just checked out Yelp and found this place after reading all the kudos. They were right. But let me clarify: This is a very simple no frills place that just gives you the best cut for the price anywhere. If you are looking for: 1) Big screen TV 2) Sports talk (or ANY talk!) 3) Soft Background Music 4) Fancy cologne, etc. 5) New Yorker magazine, Wall Street Journal or even the Police Gazette on a fancy coffee table. .... THIS AIN'T THE PLACE!!! But if you want a pretty damn good haircut for about 8 Bucks - This is the place. Even with a generous tip, it is cheaper than what I used to pay! I'll give her Five Stars when she puts in a tv.... lol Thank you Joanne and her associate. read more

Been to a few similar barbers in the area at times at the expense of my hair. This was not one of those occasions. When I arrived I expected a wait because of the good Yelp reviews. There was a hand-written sign "Back in 5 minute" and the door was locked. So I went next door and used the restroom at the McDonald's... Came back and the door was open. I sat down patiently and there was nobody else there except an older Asian gal eating in the back. She washed her hands and told me to have a seat in one of the barber chairs. She commented that whoever did my fade before did it too high. This was true (sidebar: avoid the barber in the shopping center at Watt & Whitney). She proceeded to give me a good fade and it was just as long and high as I told her. Communication is critical. Best $8 plus tip haircut so far read more

My three year old needed a haircut and I was tired of going to the "specialty" kid shops that charge and arm and a leg. Driving by doing errands, I saw this place and on a whim I decided to drop in. The big sign outside said "$6 For Haircuts," so I thought why not. There were three people waiting and two in the chairs. I waited for close to thirty minutes and let me tell you, when you have an antsy toddler, that is a lifetime. But I figured we were there, just buck it up and wait. Joanne did a fabulous job. She took her time getting the cut right, much to my sons dismay. She was very patient with him and loaded him up with candy bars at the end for a nice reward. I'll be sending her the dentist bill! Haha! She charges $7, but I left her with ten. Fabulous cut, cheap, and most important to me, no tears from the both of us. Be prepared to wait. This place is busy and has people waiting. Worth the wait in my opinion! read more

Thank you for the haircut today. It is so much better. Will be back before it gets so bad.

Joanne is the real deal, $7 Hair cut. She took a great deal of care and time on mine even though it was a simple cut. read more

This place deserves 5 stars for a cheap, good, cut. I usually go another well known barbershop downtown if there's going to be a special occasion but truth be told, I've gotten way more compliments on my hair when I've had it done here. They know how to fade and they use quite a few clippers and sizes to get it done. I make sure to atleast give them a 3$ tip they deserve it when the cut is good. read more

Just went here tonight with my son. He needed a hair cut after his baseball practice and after seeing the reviews on here, I figured why not try it out? We got there about 5 mins before the posted closing time, so as we walked in I asked if it was too late for a cut. We were greeted with smiles and told it was no problem. Both ladies were working on hair cuts for other guys but we still had barely any wait time, maybe 7 mins tops. While we waited, another gentleman came in and they took him also, even though by then it was after closing. My son just wanted a slightly-more-than-buzzed clipper cut but they didn't rush it. Three or four different blades were used and it looks great! My son has a funky "3 swirls" thing going on with how his hair grows on the top of his head near the back and usually it ends up sticking in every direction after he gets it cut short - BUT not this time!!! She kept it just a tiny bit longer at each swirly point and it lays down smooth and looks perfectly blended with the rest of his hair!!! I was highly impressed by this place. It wasn't super fancy or swanky, but I liked that. It was comfortable and they really know what they are doing. The cost was amazing too - only 7$! Definitely will be going back! Thanks so much!!! read more

When it's the end of the month and I know I better start saving my pennies for my mortgage and my bills....I need to put my "usual" on the back burner because I know for a fact that I can't afford a $150 cut/color. What I can afford is some simple layers and a nice bang trim and for $8, you can't beat the price!!! Seriously, check this place out....it's simple...it's quick....it's cheap.....but come on! I'd rather splurge my money on some good food and wine so I think it's a fair trade off. =) read more

Great haircuts and very friendly. She gives my son candy every time! Also her prices are very cheap 10-11$ for a haircut.

Great haircut! I cant believe its only 8 bucks! No frills barbershop. No big t.v. no radio blasting, no attitude. Only a nice hard working lady cutting hair to perfection. Cash only. read more

My boyfriend was in need of a haircut so after checking reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were beyond impressed with the results and her attention to detail. She spent a good 30-45 minutes on him and really took her time to ensure she was thorough. The haircut was so cheap that he left a 100% tip. read more

Joanne is a trip. She doesn't rush, so your haircut will not be a 5 minute buzz. But she does a great cut, and only charges about $7. With tip, I figured $10 was still the best haircut I could have had at the price. read more

Update: still coming here after a few years. Joanne knows me by name now and I don't have to tell her what I want anymore. I come in, I sit down, she tells me some jokes, I sometimes fix the settings on her cell phone because she can never get them right, but the one thing she always gets right.... the haircut. In my many years coming here I don't ever think I've ever caught any of the workers on a bad day.....luck? No, skill. Still crummy parking but eh....pick your battles. read more

Great ladies and amazing price. If you are running late, just give them a call and they'll work with you. They did an awesome job on his hair last time, taking extra time to ensure everything was even and clean. Even after one visit they remembered what we talked about and they include me too! They do women's also, but I haven't tried them for myself. However, for men's this is definitely the place to go! We are so happy to have found a good barber and will continue coming here read more

Best hair cut in Carmichael. No need go anywhere else.

Great haircut! Perfect blending between the beard and the top of the head. If you live in Carmichael or nearby area this is the place to go.

New to the area and my son need a haircut. Joanne was really friendly and did a great job. We will definitely be back!

I'm a cosmetologist and i have always cut my husband and son's hair. I am very picky with fades for my husband and even more picky with my son's Mohawk. It takes alot of trust and confidence to have another person cut their hair. But these ladies are so nice, warm, and talented. They're the only ones I would trust and the only barber shop we as a family would ever go to. Great job ladies! read more

I'm fairly new to the Carmichael area and this is my first haircut experience. I found Joanne's place on Yelp and it had many positive reviews so I thought what the heck I will give it a try. I went today around noon and Mary was available to cut my hair. I showed her how I wore my hair and that I normally go 4 weeks between cuts but that it had been 5 1/2 weeks so I was overdue. She listened to what I wanted and did an excellent job cutting my hair and gave me a brief lower scalp/neck massage. Mary has 20 years experience and was very nice to talk to. The price was outstanding at $8 and even with the tip was $12 which is half what I paid previously in the Bay Area. I will be getting my hair cut here from now on. Thanks Mary a very satisfied customer!! read more

Joanne has been cutting my boys head for the last 4 or 5 months and has been doing a great job. We just love her. She does a great job.

If you're looking for a place in town that can give you a trendy haircut (undercut, flattop, shaved part), these ladies are great. Had a wonderful first experience. Joanne cut my hair. Made sure she was doing what I wanted and had a great sense of humor. Cheap too. Base cut is 7 bucks I think. read more

First time I had a haircut here. She did an Excellent job on my Flattop and High & Tight. Yes I will be back in one week!!

I read the reviews and decided to give it a try and am very happy that I did. Saw that they cut women's hair too but most of the reviews were for men. I was looking to get a very short cut so figured this would be a good place to go. I brought in pictures of what I wanted. I think Annie was at first a bit surprised and when I asked her if she could do it, Joanne looked at the pictures and said something to her and she relaxed. I had a bob style with short back and went to very short all over pixie. She did a terrific job. I only wish I could have tipped more. I will next time. read more
