I don't know why I didn't think to review Sylvia's before now - I'm in there all the time!…read more Let's start off with Sylvia. She is one of the nicest people you will meet. Ever. She's very knowledgeable about quilting and sewing in general. The staff there is great as well. They will spend as long as it takes to find the one perfect fabric you are missing from your project. I mean AS LONG as you need them to. The other day I had found 7 of 8 fabrics I needed for a project and just couldn't come up with that perfect last one. After 20 minutes or more we found it! I say we, like I had some hand in it. It was really the 2 other ladies that were scouring the store to please me. They ROCK! :) The store is well lit with room to move around. The fabrics are grouped by type (batik, flannel, cotton, Asian,) and then by color. They have a nice selection of rulers, cutters, threads, quilting patterns, fat quarters, do-dads, and general sewing-type notions. There are sample quilts & projects hanging EVERYWHERE to inspire you. Gift cards are available! In the back of the store there are large tables for classes. Samples of all the class projects are hanging to you can get an up-close look at what you're going to make. Stop by Sylvia's, you'll love it. Even if you're only going in to pet the fabric. :)

I just have to give a huge shout-out to Candice in the Paint Department at Lowe's!…read more Home projects can feel overwhelming, especially when you're standing in front of what feels like a million paint colors, but Candice made the entire experience enjoyable. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and kind. She took the time to listen to my ideas, answer my questions, and help me find the perfect direction for my project. What really stood out was that she genuinely cared. I never felt rushed or like I was "just another customer." She went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed and felt confident moving forward. Her positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to help turned what could have been a stressful errand into a great experience. In today's world, exceptional customer service deserves to be recognized, and Candice absolutely deserves it. Lowe's is lucky to have her on their team. Thank you, Candice, for your kindness, patience, and for going the extra mile. You made this Alaska gal's day, and I am truly grateful!

Sometimes, not often, I'll find something of interest at some point in the store. I got a phone charger here once... Recently we came in here to get a tape measure, a chalk line, and duct tape. It was a quick go to the products, go through checkout, and we're on our way. It's not often that the items that we're here for are difficult to find. If help is needed finding product, there's usually someone around to help out. It bothers me a little that they're super choosey about what's allowed on the military discount, but I guess it's typical for most hardware stores. They are a bit more expensive than Home Depot or Lowes, but they're convenient. All around they're organized, clean, well stocked, and usually pretty knowledgable. I was just not impressed with the customer service... Not quite stellar, but passed the test.

There is everything from lotions, to Alaska clothing, to puzzles and toys. There are fuzzy and comfy looking socks. They have lip balm and magnets, soaps and all sorts of coffee cups. There are cute signs, snarky signs, and everything in between. I even saw a mini zen garden. (I may go back for that soon, so I'm not telling you it's cozy location). It dawned upon me today that this is where I need to go when I need a gift, but I'm not sure what to get. It doesn't seem to matter the age of the person. There is something for everyone. The space is bigger than the humble entrance leads you to believe. It is clean, organized and well put together.
