After a disastrous experience with Moscone Tile (see their review) I discovered Gem Stones around…read morethe corner from them. They had a limited display of granite on-site (the store was very tiny and they are more fabricators), they gave me the names and addresses of a few granite providers for me to source the stone, colours, etc. I drove to one on Highway 7 near Highway 27 and found the perfect granite. Because of the size of my kitchen (I was doing the countertops, backsplash and a fairly large island) I required 3 slabs of granite, all in succession. It was explained that the slabs must be in succession so that any veins, patterns, etc remain consistent. I selected the 3 slabs and went back to Gem Stones. I also ordered an under the counter sink and selected a ledge for the border of the granite. A day later I was called for a site measure to be done the following day. The person who came out was efficient, courteous and a pleasure to deal with. I was told that fabrication would be done within the week and that I would be called with an installation date. Later that week I received a call advising me that installation could be done the following week. Date and time were set. The installation went perfectly as planned....tops went down first, then backsplash. The company did an excellent job matching veins during the install, so that they "flow" from one piece to another. All in all, it was an great experience dealing with a professional company who have their act together. I have since recommended this company to a friend who also had them do her kitchen countertops, and she was as thrilled as we were with the results.

There was one person manning the store and he was busy with someone. I patiently waited my turn, I figured he would get to me once he completed the sale. Shortly before he had finished the sale another man walked in that seemed to know the sales associate. They said hello and the sales associate asked him how his project was going. At this point I was slightly annoyed, I had not even gotten a "hello, I will be with you in a moment" from the sales associate. I still waited. I needed the supplies. After the sale was complete I was all ready with my questions and requests. The guy walked right by me, not even an acknowledgment and helped his friend. Horrible customer service. I will never go back again and I suggest anyone else try a different location.

Speers Flooring offers several different flooring options. It's actually overwhelming! Luckily, I…read morewas briefly educated on the basics before coming here and had narrowed down what I wanted. The staff at Speers were very friendly and helpful. They confirmed the pros and cons of each type of flooring and came up with solutions to my transition issues (floor to tile). I was able to borrow several samples (for free!) to help me decide what colour would work best in my space. At Pottery Barn, they charge you something crazy like $25 per tiny sample of wood. (Note: Apparently, PB refunds the $ if you return the samples in 30 days.) I had some very specific installation questions, some flooring-related and some non-flooring related. Speers Flooring was able to provide contact information for just about any job. While their prices are a little higher than others, I believe you are paying for their quality service and expertise. The sales people were very honest with me, and never pushy.

We went to Factory Tile Depot to look at tiles for a bathroom reno. I found the layout of the store…read morea little difficult to browse as the sheets are quite heavy. They have a huge amount of stock and the staff are very friendly and willing to help. I think they had some really great tiles but they can be quite hidden. The pricing was difficult to locate and didn't appear to be per square foot like other stores. That can make it difficult to compare pricing. Otherwise I look forward to working with the staff on our future projects.

Bought tiles for bathroom reno in November. Tracy was helping me. I was debating using large tiles…read morefor the shower floors vs the typical small tiles. My contractor said that he would be ok doing that only if I also ordered the Schluter Kerdi shower base system. When I asked Tracy how much more (besides the tiles) this would cost me, she only quoted me 2 of the 3 pieces required. The base (talked to my contractor to ask what size was needed) and the linear drain Cover but made no mention of the actual drain also required. Cost: $656+ tax. So, I decided to go for it. Couple of weeks ago my contractor went to pick up the piece to start the job...no drain. Had to rush order it and the Cost: $417. When I talked to Tracy today she told me the contractor would not know what exact drain to order until he broke up the floor and it was up to me and him to ensure we ordered what we needed etc. When I mentioned that she never once mentioned this to me, she said that it was back in November and she could not recall the conversations regarding this order. When I explained that had I known that the Whole shower base system was going to run me nearly 1200$ I Would have used the smaller tiles. She was unsympathetic and Refused to acknowledge that it was her quoting error and refused to cover the additional cost or even charge me for her cost of the product ie waiving profit. Not impressed at all. When I make an error, I don't make others pay for it.
