When we met…read moreKaren Stensrude at an open house and found out she had also recently moved from Seattle, we decided to sit down with her and see what kinds of help she could give us as a potential realtor. Karen is a bulldog on behalf of her clients. Buying a home is probably always a stressful and confusing affair, and buying our first house definitely was, but Karen made this probably as smooth and coordinated as it could be. She went out of her way to find us properties that she knew we would love, meeting with us at weird hours of the night when all of our schedules aligned. And, most importantly, she never made us once feel bad about it (although we still feel bad about that late night trip to Mattapan -- our bad!). What really made Karen stand out (and made me actually sit down to write a review) was her absolute dedication to her clients, a dedication that goes way beyond her responsibilities as a realtor. We closed on our house three weeks ago, and she continued to follow-up with us and pursue additional discounts that she may have found from the paperwork. But when she also found out about a really humiliating and discriminatory experience with a contractor who came into our home and made a number of homophobic and misogynist statements (we're a gay couple), Karen went way above and beyond, not because she saw it as her duty as a realtor but as a human being. Without prompting, Karen reached out to the corporate offices of the company who sent this contractor, pushing them to make this right and even helped to spread the word to other potential clients not to work with this company. She is, frankly, amazing, and we're really glad we managed to get the chance to work with her. I highly recommend her for anyone looking to buy a house or find an apartment.

While talking with a contractor outside my Condo building one evening, David came stumbling out of…read morethe building. He was carrying what appeared to be paint supplies. He walked over to me and interrupted my conversation. I didn't recognize him until I heard the mumbling of incoherent talk. He was babbling insults and kept dropping his supplies and stumbling around. One comment he made very clear as he was walking away was "write another post". Here it is. About 3 weeks after this event my wife and I saw David at an auto dealer in the mid- late afternoon. He was lucid and when he spoke he was clear of mind and I could understand exactly what he said. David asked me in the showroom in front of the sales person if I wanted to "mix it up". David's resolution to our differences is to go to the school yard like a couple of 12 year olds. David is obviously angry about my post. If he had a good business plan, he wouldn't resort to anger and fisticuffs. But I think his issues are deeper. Years ago when we argued over the cause of damage to my apartment, I told him he was no expert and his explanation made no sense. It didn't. He was embarrassed by his obvious lack of knowledge on this matter. Later, he called me and said he was sending a person to my unit who was an expert to find the problem. When I asked who, he didn't reply with a name, company or credentials. He said he is an Irish guy. Like that mattered, right. Only to David. It is my opinion David is so challenged that he thinks that would make a difference. Sorry David, we all can see right through that. Only ignorant people think that way. If you had any kind of business sense, you would know how to deal with your customers, yet you continue to fail. You have many issues and I suggest all readers to go elsewhere for work. David has failed us many times, he has an anger issue, he has no business sense or value and apparently a host of other issues. This guy is trouble.

We had gone through 3 different property management in the past. They were either not responsive…read moreenough, would have a high turnover of people in charge (so you would know know who to communicate with), never followed with the list of preventative maintenance requests, would do nothing on optimizing rental income, or would be way too expensive (sometimes, all of the above). Hiring Longview Properties lowered by stress, and increased my confidence in being a landlord. They own their own properties, so they understand what's important to both, the landlord, as well as a tenants. They are easy to communicate with, and they know the tenants by name (they are not just another unit number). Most impressive though is that they put themselves in your shoes, and do what you would want to have done - one example, when driving by the property on a weekend, of a fall afternoon, I saw Mike (the owner of Longview Properties) blowing leaves - when I asked him what he was doing, his response was that he would not spend $600 for 30 minutes of landscaping work, regardless of it was his property on mine. It's that level of customer service that it's extremely rare to find anywhere else.
