Our patio installation was the worst experience ever! It took 3 months longer than quoted. We waited over 5 months from the initial quote (deposit of $500 paid in cash at this time) to the installation. We called a few times requesting a refund of our deposit and were told that the money had been spent on getting the permits. During one of these conversations, Marlene said they hadn't applied for the permit yet! It was a complete run-around. I took a day off work on the day it was supposed to be done, but TJ called and said they ordered the wrong color and not enough material. So it was pushed back even further. For some background, my wife and I had deliberated for almost a year on whether to get an alumawood patio cover or a lumber-based, full construction patio cover. Based on both the significantly smaller price point and the faster construction time, we opted for the alumawood option. Doing business with JMAR Construction made us significantly happy with that choice and I'm glad that we didn't squander money on the other option! First, their customer service is second to none. While my wife handled most of the phone calls and planning, she said that Marlene was fantastic and very convenient to work with. Karl then came and did an in-home consultation. He was extremely friendly and fun to talk to. He quoted us a very competitive price and after signing on with him, he even gave my nieces and dog (who all were there at the time) some gifts! It added a personal touch that truly went a long way with us. As for the construction itself, things went quickly and efficiently. Despite the fact that there were several moving parts (digging of holes in the yard, city inspection of holes, pouring of concrete by another company, construction of patio cover, inspection of construction, and replacing of pavers), they all happened rapidly in order like a well-oiled machine! After only about 2 weeks from signing the contract, we had a fully built, beautiful patio cover with no mess left behind. I am so happy that we reached out to JMAR Construction for this job. We've spent a lot of time and money on our backyard and despite the fact that we've added a partial in-ground hot tub, a koi pond with waterfall, and many trees to the yard, I feel as if this patio cover might be the singular item that has the most impact on how our yard looks and feels. He comes to your home and does the measurements and shows you the product. I just have to say, my first impressions were wonderful! Margaret is a sweetheart and Karl is pure awesomeness. He had stories and was really personable. He was honest. He is 84 years old and active! I wish I can reach that age and be as active as him. Anyways, his prices were on point.
